The CHRISTMAS-IS-CANCELED Coffee Post

There's just no way we'll be able to take Pop down to Deb's for the holiday.  For one thing, dinner is at noon and we'll never make it.  Second, he's been continually growing worse as the days are passing.  His comprehension is near the zero point.  He makes no sense.  He's extremely agitated, even at this early time of the day.  Football is not calming him but he's dozing now so I'm taking this opportunity to let my fingers run over the keyboard and give a report.

We're waiting for Bath Lady.  But to tell you the truth, she's not going to be able to get him in the tub.

He just had to poop and it was quite a feat to get him balanced in a standing position so I could wipe his butt.  Luckily I managed and had his pants up before his legs gave out and he went down.  I already had my arms around him so I pulled my weight against his so that he would go down easily and not get hurt.  Getting him up off the floor by myself was a much bigger challenge.  For one thing, Rob was at the store and I didn't want to scare Ma.  So it was just me.  But he only weighs 120ish right now so it could be worse.

Of course, Ma doesn't know how to sit still so she did come out and did find me on the floor with him and did  freakout.   But by then I was in the process of getting him back in the chair and it was only about 10 seconds before I accomplished that.  I stayed as cool as a cucumber with both of them, as if it was no big deal.  So it all worked out fine.

But Ma's made the call on Christmas day.  We're not going.  And, to be honest, I'm rather relieved.

It's so hard to be with him.  But it's much harder to be without him.

I look forward to the day when I don't have to hear anyone say my name ever again.

Goodness.  I'm sorry Christmas is cancelled.  That's no fun in some ways and lots of fun in other ways.  Will anyone come visit?  Do your parents have any grandkids?  Just a curious one over here!
