Do You Believe?

Whats so great about being a Christian?

Why do you believe in God?

Do you really think Jesus died for your sins?  Wasn't he just a man who did some nice things?

How do you answer these questions?  Are you even willing to answer these questions if someone posed them to you?  I have often heard, "I am not going to get into a religious debate with you."  or "I never discuss politics or religion."

Well, my question to you is, why not?  We, as Christians, are entirely capable of having a prepared defense... as long as we do not get defensive.  We, as Christians, should have a prepared defense.  We should have total faith and confidence in what we believe.

One simple way to respond to naysayers is through your testimony.  A personal testimony catches the attention of the person you are speaking to and holds their interest.

What should your testimony consist of?

-It should describe your life before receiving Christ

-How you realized your need for Christ

-What steps you took to become a Christian

-How Christ helps you make a difference in your daily life

-Any unique ways Christ has dealt with you in drawing you to Himself

(This is just a suggested guideline)

Do you have a prepared testimony?  Would you be willing to share it if the opportunity ever presented itself?

Preparing a thoughtful and logical defense of the faith enables you to present Scripture in a persuasive manner, and allows you to answer with clear and precise hope as to why you believe in Christ.

1Pe 3:15
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

If I allow Him to have His will... He makes all the choices in my life. Peace beyond understanding is the best way I know how to explain it.

Because He has worked miricles in my life, answered prayers, and He does every day.

Yes Jesus died for my sins.  And it is written in history. Many have tried to prove He was not the son of God.. and ended up believing.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend Amanda. Hope you and the children are getting well. In my prayers, Janie

    my answer to those questions:

    1.  I get to have a relationship with the one true and only God and by accepting his son as my Savior I get to spend eternity with him and not worry about where I'm going when I die
    2.  He's my only hope, he is the only one that keeps his promises and although life is hard and I've been through some rough things, he's always been with me and he has never let me down and I've tried to do it by myself and I fail miserably without him directing my life
    3.  Yes, no, he was the one and only son of God

I think we have to be prepared to give our testimony, which they usually recommend is just a couple minutes long, but at the same time we have to respect other people's beliefs while we are talking to them; so many people are afraid to get into discussions with Christians because they think we will shove our beliefs down their throat and not respect their right to have their own opinions, make sense?

great thoughts, Amanda, have a great day
