Feeling Happy
Hearing Adult Alternative (Rock)

Joe, Bo and Poe!

OK, folks.  Remember those three "feral" kittens that I opened this blog with?

Well, here they are now!

They no longer hiss, flatten their ears or prepare to "strike."

Instead, they are curious, playful and fast learning that being picked up and held by one of those "big, bad humans" ain't quite so bad!

I have named these little cuties, "Jo, Bo and Poe."  The little orange guys are of course, boys (about 80% of orange cats are males - a genetic thing, you know).  The little tabby is a girl.  Poe, (the girl) was the toughest of the group when I first got them.  But, now she as settled in and just looks a little befuddled when I hold her.

It is always important to cage or otherwise confine to a small space, "feral" kittens when first rescued (otherwise, they will hide and one will never get hands on them!).  If rescued before 10-weeks of age, it is extremely easy to "socialize" them.  After ten weeks, it is a little harder and takes more time, but still comparatively easy.

One does not, however, want to leave "stray" kittens outside too long, as it becomes more difficult to socialize, the older they get.   Always important to rescue as soon as possible.  Ideally, as soon as they are eating solid food.

I don't know what happened to the mother of these kittens.  The babies were apparently brought into the Brooklyn AC&C without a mother.

A shame that she couldn't have been rescued too, and either spayed and put back (if feral) or eventually adopted out, if tame.

As for these guys:  I will soon be looking for loving, responsible homes for them. Hoping to adopt two out together and the third to a home that already has a young cat.

Wouldn't it be great if the three could be adopted out together?

Well, I can wish, can't I?  ;)
