Feeling Frustrated
Any Help for an Abused Chow? (Reply)
Jo Writes: Would that people take the time to think about the future and not act so impulsively in adopting only to dump them later on.. or to backyard breed. It is a nightmare. These cats did not ask for this kind of life!! Animals are sentient beings.. why don't people get this? So frustrating and so terribly sad.

Reply: Thanks, Jo for taking the time to share the alert about the Abbys with others. Hopefully, something can come of these efforts.
While you're at it, would you mind sharing the below "alert," as well? We all know about the breeding, abuse and dumping of Pitbulls. But, sometimes I think Chows are THE most maltreated and misunderstood dogs of all. The woman who rescued this Chow (Thank God!) can be contacted via the email address provided. -- Thanks. -PCA

Subject: Looking for Chow rescue in upstate NY

Rescued a chow yesterday and need to know if there is a rescue nearby
to take it. It's about 20lbs. underweight, is allergic to fleas and
has hair missing. Was taken from a house where it was chained to a
doorknob on only enough chain to lay down. Has swollen back legs. It
was kept like this for three months. They never took it for a walk or
let it out. It's very friendly and I am taking it to a vet this
afternoon. But we rescue cats and have nowhere for this poor dog. Can
anyone help?
Thanks
Paulette
