Did We Just Happen or Did God Create Us?

Did We Just Happen to Stumble into Existence or Did God Really Create Us?

A person of faith will most always look for God in creation. Others may not. Some believers accept as 'scientific' the theory of organic evolution to explain the way we got here, but with no real way to explain it. The great 'bridge' between having insufficient evidence for evolution and having to reject it outright is to simply mask it with the phrase "over the billions of years of time changes occurred."

The evolutionists cannot escape the reality that the original elements of matter had to come from somewhere, life itself had to originate from something, knowledge had to have a start with some kind of origin. The "original origin" throws the most learned and passionate scientific minds. That is the initial unscalable hurdle; but the effort drives on to cause us, all mankind, to accept the theory of evolution.

The following entry is made more from the intellectual, logical perspective than from the emotional or spiritual point of view. It is based on a background of a science education and a comprehensive study of the bible.

My science education consists of 70 class hours of college science (chemistry, physics, and biology) and 40 class hours of college mathematics to support the science courses. My work history consists of 40 years in science, including 20 in research.

My religious education and activities include a life time of regular bible study, and countless workshops and teaching of bible scholars. I worked almost five years in the mission fields of Lahore, Pakistan, and Tehran, Iran, among the intensity of both Sunni and Shiite Muslims. My serving as a deacon was five years and as an elder, ten years. For over 20 years I directed a missions and culture training program for small children through high school.

A keen interest and passion since my first year of college has been comparing, in harmony and in contrast, the truest science and the purest scripture I could determine. The reading has included 40 to 50 books and articles and papers comparing the understanding of science by man and the inspiration of scripture by God, reliable science books, and the writings of bible apologists and scholars.

Without hesitation, without defense, without argument, I write these key conclusions I have drawn from over 50 years of study seeking honestly for the truth in the scientific disciplines and in the biblicalinterpretations and commentaries and doctrines. It has always been my intent to determine the truth, whichever side of science it came down on. And admittedly, most of my study was done calling on God, in whom I believe, to guide my study, research, and search.

Here, then, are my individual and independent conclusions:

1...Man is far older than the traditionally-accepted biblical age of 12,000 years.

2...Prehistoric dinosaurs did exist, as evidenced by the skeletal remains and fossils preserved in ice, dirt/rock, and amber.

3...The bible allows for epochal periods of time in the first chapter of Genesis.

4...Species were created at widely-varied points of time, even eons apart.

5...There are virtually (if not absolutely) no transition fossils or 'genuine' skeletal remains of "between-the-species" life forms, making evolution spurious in general concept.

6...Divine creation, with "intelligent design", of course, over a great period of time is the most logical conclusion from the true scientific evidence accurately documented, honestly recorded, and truthfully reported.

7...The bible as the inspired word of God upholds the true facts and laws of science, even elucidates some baffling questions of science.

God, the Author of the words of the bible; the Establisher of the laws of science; the Creator of all the cycles of nature; the Maker of the body, mind, soul of man; and the Designer of the plan of man's salvation, stands sovereign and supreme compared to the greatest minds of science, philosophy, and human genius.

You either believe the bible or you don't.   Science changes.  The word of God doesn't.  Have Faith.  The only thing to understand is that some things we aren't meant to understand.   Faith in God...........you either have it, or you don't.

With regards to the Genisis account and the age of the Earth, I have a couple of observations.  The question boils down to whether or not the 'days' are literal 24 hour days in the creation account.  Could the account be poetic?  Is there any room for the 'days' to be anything other than literal 24 hours?  Could God have given us a 7 day account of the creation because He wanted us to rest every seven days?  Why did God have to rest anyway?  Why did it take 7 whole days?

Consider Psalm 19:6, which says "(the sun's) rising is from the end of the heavens, and it's circuit to the end of them;"  Several hundred years ago, we thought the sun went around the earth.  Then a scientist came along, invented the telescope and said that the earth went around the sun.  The church put him under house arrest because 'scripture trumps science'.  Better science came along, and we found out that the earth really does go around the sun.  Do we then throw out scripture, or refine our interpretation of it?

Our best science puts the age of the earth at 4 1/2 billion years.  Do we throw the science out?  Do we throw the scriptures out?  Or do we take a look at our interpretation of the scriptures?  After all, God brought Jesus to us 'in the fulness of time'  He spent thousands of years preparing man for Christ's coming.  Why not spend billions preparing the earth for man?

By the way, when Jesus comes again, will he really come from the east as Matt 24:27 indicates?  Does God really own only the cattle on a thousand hills?  (Psalm 50:10).  Are the streets in Heaven literal gold?  Are there really streets?  Why?  Is Jesus really bread? A door?  A lamb?  Can't a 'day' in Genesis be anything other that a literal 24 hour period?  Of course it can.

If the Bible and science disagree, then either the science is bad,
