Note: (This is a reprint of a journal entry made in 2005, but still just as valid)

Illegal crossings over the Mexico-U.S. border can be ended by building a 5 mile wide 'economic zone' along the entire 1,500 mile stretch of territory from Texas through New Mexico and Arizona to California, and inviting Mexican workers to work in that zone only and issuing a work permit for entry.
These 'workers permits' would grant them permission to enter only the economic zone for work and residence. Crossing the Mexico-U.S. border could be done with the worker permit, but it would not allow a border worker to leave the economic zone on the American side.
The border workers would be fully registered on tax rolls paying taxes as would American citizens. The entire tax amount would be deducted from the workers pay check each time one is given to the worker, avoiding a yearly report or payment by the border worker.
The border workers could have insurance deductions taken from their salary also, allowing them permission to use American medical facilities, as would any American citizen, but only in the economic zone.

HOW IS THE ECONOMIC ZONE DEVELOPED?
The U.S. AND Mexican governments wold contribute financially to the development of businesses of all kinds. Private industry would invest in the economic zone receiving generous incentives from government grants and loans.
A master plan of industrial and agricultural development would be made by a planning commission formed by the federal government with border-state representatives on the planning board. Long term plans would be laid out to develop the economic zone evenly and equitably.
The border line of the economic zone on the American side would be patroled and protected and made impervious. Crossing that line would be absolutely prohibited, except by strict immigration laws. American citizenship could be gained in normal legal methods by border workers; then, they could enter the U.S. in a legal way, and become citizens legitimately.
The positive results of this major free enterprise project would be: (1) open the border states to vast economic growth, (2) eliminate illegal border crossing, (3) draw tax money (now missed) from border workers, (4) solidify a cooperative effort between Mexico and the U.S., (5) improve the 'oil rich' economy of Mexico, (6) calm ever-growing tension within the American citizenry about illegal immigration.

Whatever else happens in the two campaigns for election as president of the United States, already racial bias has been exposed in the church members of the Obama's Trinity United Church of Christ. And it seems obvious from other comments about the incidents of Mr. Wright and Mr. Pfleger in the pulpit of that church, that others - who knows how many - of black church members in many other (?) churches support the rhetoric of those two men.

I for one am concerned that there will be 'empowered' black people who rise in violent rebellion against the U.S. government. As much concern to me is that there will be white groups who retaliate or even preempt such rebellion, and focus a newly enflamed hatred of people of color and cause acts of violence themselves.

This country has too much vitriol in all we do these days that can incite anger and hate, violence and killing. This anger starts in little league and carries all the way up to professional sports, not to mention the politics and now even religious revolt against authority.

I hope both our candidates can put that horrible genie back in the bottle and turn the passion away from attack and toward civility.

John McCain should say these things....

1. "YOU KNOW YOU AND YOUR MONEY WILL BE SAFE WITH ME ON ANY ISSUE - TAXES, IMMIGRATION, TERROR, PATRIOTISM, EXPERIENCE. THAT CANNOT BE SAID OF MY SEEDLING OPPONENT."

2. "WE WILL DEPART IRAQ WITH HONOR IN MY PRESIDENCY..NOT WITH OUR TAILS TUCKED BETWEEN OUR LEGS, as would be the case with my YOUNG and INEXPERIENCED opponent."

3. "VISUALIZE THIS PICTURE - WE NEED A HEAVY WEIGHT IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHEN THE U.S. HAS BIG PROBLEMS, NOT A LIGHT WEIGHT. IS IT NOT OBVIOUS IN THIS RACE THAT I AM THE SEASONED HEAVY WEIGHT, AND THAT MY OPPONENT IS THE NAIVE LIGHT WEIGHT?"

4. "WE CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE THE CHANCE WITH ANY YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED MAN, NO MATTER HOW SUAVELY HE SPEAKS, OR HANDSOME HE MIGHT BE".

Since my last entry almost 2 years ago, many things have happened, no doubt to all of us. Some of my own diversionary happenings have been: the complete writing of the book on our work in Lahore, Pakistan, and Tehran, Iran. I am calling it "Rising Heat in Tehran." It will be published when I can do it right.

I have given many speeches in many places. I have been heavily involved in a study of church decline in America....an extremely serious turn in the 3rd millennium. The intense study was conducted by some 60 conservative Christians digging to find why membership has declined and what to do to turn that trend around. I have been involved in some serious spiritual music-writing for congregational worship.

It was a privilege of mine to give some stand up comedy routines during the past several months. One at Texas Stadium in Dallas (Irving) Texas. This talk was for a convention of hispanic contractors, who heard me talk about my career and work as snack food consultant in a piece I call "I Put Bubbles in Tortilla Chips."

My wife and I made an 8 day cruise to Alaska from Seattle aboard the Princess Lines ship named the Dawn Princess. Do That!! That cruise was a gift to my wife and me for our golden wedding anniversary from our four children, three of whom reside in Texas, near Dallas, while the fourth daughter with her family live in Coronado, California . Do That!! If you make any pleasure cruise, do the Alaska trip. You will see why only if you do it....Do That!!

Our travels have taken us to the South of France - Lyon, Marseille, Aix en Provence, to Singapore, El Salvador, and many states west from Texas and East from Texas, to the midwest, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Alabama, for a talk to a group of some 87 missionaries, and to San Diego, to Winona, Mississippi to offer counsel and input on the establishment of a School of World Evangelism.

We have visited grandaughters in college in Abilene, TX, in San Marcos, TX, and the one in Aix en Provence. With ten grandchildren there is promise we will see other campuses before long. We will see Nutcracker again this year as one grandaughter performs in Irving; this will be our 14th or 16th or 18th Christmas season to see at least one grand child perform in the Nutcracker.

On top of all the travel and recreation we have done, I have tried to run my company helping snack food manufacturers improve their snackfoods. We have done that in 23 countries and in over 110 companies.

I now hope to make more journal entries in the Citizens Line blog, as the writing of the book on Tehran and much required travel is finished. I am not attempting to make an entry each week, but only when I have something I want to write about. You feel free to add an entry whenever you choose.

Thanks for rejoining the readers of the Citizen's Line. Signed, ManWalking50.

at the bottom of the article: "Add Your Own"

Thank you for reading my Blog, A CITIZEN'S LINE over the past six months. I am changing the entry schedule from 'every Sunday' to 'when I have an idea'...not any fixed entry schedule. Here's why....for the next several months I will be actively writing a book on our personal experiences in Lahore, Pakistan, and Tehran, Iran.

We had some rather harrowing times in both countries, and I want to write them in a book of about 300 pages. The book will expose some of the character of the muslim mentality, and discuss how really HOT Tehran got during the time we were there, and how that relates to the events going on in that part of the world today.

I will write our observations of the good of the muslim people we saw, the bad of the sunni muslims of Pakistan and the shiite muslims of Iran, and the ugliness of the way people are treated in many, many cases. For example, the conversion of one young muslim girl resulted in her husband putting her to death after she told him she had been baptized and was a christian. It gave me much pause, as I was the one who baptized her.

The first 45 pages are written, and I am working early in the morning before I have to go to work. I write from about 5:30 am until about 8:30 am or later. It is tedious work, but I want to relate the minds and hearts of the people then with the effect that the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini had on Osama bin Laden, and even on the current Iranian President Ahmadinejan, who said, "Israel should be pushed into the sea", and that there "...was no Holocaust of the Jews".

How did Khomeini gain a victory over the United States, which he called "The Great Satan"?

How did he influence Bin Laden?

What impact did he have on the entire muslim world?

These things I am addressing in the new book.

Thanks again for reading this Blog...I hope to renew it later on this summer.

ManWalking50.

My career has been one as a research scientist. My education lends itself to that vocation, and my mind is very much stimulated by science, practical study and application as well as theoretical. But some areas of "exploration into things" step over the lines of "going where no man has gone before". Some places where man CAN go may be places where it is better that he does NOT go.

The extremely controversial discipline of cloning is, of course, intriguing, and lends itself to intense questions, and I have these observations. For instance, I wonder if clones (animals) will ever have the longevity of originals? Will they ever be able to reproduce?

What would be the result of a horse race where ten entries cloned from one champion race horse run against each other?

Would ten cloned beef cattle be the same weight and yield the same 'steak' flavor and tenderness?

Could a complete herd of cattle be cloned from the absolute best animal and always turn out good meat? And could this be repeated over and over to guarantee the 'best cut in town' every time we ate a steak?

Regarding human cloning, I am very interested in hearing about this issue and seeing the direction our nation's government (and world leaders) take us. I believe I could not ever condone any aspect of human cloning for fear of what it might do to the individual or multi-individual or plural-individual or whatever he may become.

Would a single soul reside in more than one body? Would separate souls live in each body?

Would the clones resulting from one original have a common psyche, like identical twins sometime display? Would this psyche be stronger than the original and be more nearly like the original than even the twins mind-link? Would a combined psyche made up of multiple clones be extremely enhanced in mind and power...or diluted, watered down?

As a scientist I have an inquiring mind; but as a christian moral agent, I do not want to ever see the work of any scientist or team of medical men put an individual human into such a potentially wracked state of existence.

The questions hang there? In my opinion, the questions should forever hang there. ManWalking50.

Additional Thought: Your ideas and opinions would be interesting on this subject, and you are welcome to add them by clicking the link below "Add Your Own" and writing them for others to read.

MIDWEEK ENTRY...

It is significant that King Abdullah of Jordan has made the following call:

"AMMAN, Jordan - Jordan's King Abdullah II urged his new prime minister Thursday to launch an all-out war against Islamic militancy in the wake of the triple hotel bombings earlier this month that killed 63 people.

In a letter to newly appointed Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit, Abdullah said the Nov. 9 bombings "increase our determination to stick to our reform and democratization process, which is irreversible".

This quote is directly off the website of Fox News today where they entered the story from AP.

Again, I refer you to my journal entry on this Blog site, A CITIZENS LINE, a few weeks ago (10/2/05) New Impact of Homocide-Suicide Bombings

These are the kinds of things that are happening BECAUSE AMERICA IS STAYING THE COURSE IN IRAQ. Our president and the U.S. military have committed to completing the war in Iraq with victory, not cowardly surrender and defeat. We will win the war against terrorism when, and only when, the mainline Islamic people with their national leaders and their religious leaders turn their attention to stopping the terrorists.

More things like this will be apparent in the near future, because America has not "cut and run" from Iraq. Other Arabs will in time follow the stand of King Abdullah. ManWalking50.

Some Things I'd Like to See

1...On capitol case trials. Supplement the 12 peer jury with a 3 professional and trained full time jurists with legal training and judicial experience, test qualified. Both "panels" agree on guilt or no guilt before a sentence is imposed. This kind of "judgement" could prevent fiascos like that of the O.J. Simpson trial and hundreds of other lower profile trials. It could prevent the execution of those who are later found to be innocent.

2...On forest fire fighting. Instead of flying one plane or one helicoptor carrying a "thimble" full of water, send in waves of water-bearing planes to really put out the fires. Use a "shock and awe" mentality to fight the fires.

3...On 4 way stop signs. Replace most of the stop signs with only 2 yield signs.

4...On post office efficiency. I'd like to see the post office windows as efficient all day long as they are between 4:30 and 5:00 pm, as closing time approaches.

5...On leaf blowing. I'd like to see extremely stiff fines imposed for people blowing leaves out of their yards into the streets. Collection bags are availalbe to gather the leaves and dispose of them through the city trash removal.

6...On taxation. I'd like to see a universal FLAT TAX of 20% on all income regardless of salary size or any income level. If a person makes $500 per week, he pays $100 per week income tax. If one makes $2000 per week, he pays $400 per week. Each pay period the employer gives 80% to the employee and immediately sends 20% to the government. Employer keeps all records, and employee has no April 15 crisis, as he fills out no form and makes no payment. He never has his hands on the 20%, and can keep all of his 80%. This removes a lot of the red tape and payroll of the IRS department.

LOOKING BACK: I remind you to go back to previous entries on this CITIZENS LINE blog and read comments made by readers, sometimes days or weeks after the initial entry was made.

LOOKING AHEAD: In upcoming entries on this blog I will write of interrogation and torture of our terrorist captors to prevent them killing more Americans.

LOOKING TO THE SIDE: Notice the two other journals to the left of this entry and click on them to read some other incisive comments.

Those Who Would Appease Our Enemies

There are those Americans who are actually hoping we fail in Iraq. A fairly significant minority of Americans believe we should not have gone to war in Iraq. These Americans believe in some unrealistic doctrine of appeasement, thinking muslim fanatical terrorists can be dissuaded from their conquest of the world in a global 'jihad', by a stated position of "equality of nations". Thus, because they oppose the war (actually any way) they are put in the contradictory position of jumping on and pointing out every mistake, every setback, every difficulty, of our effort in Iraq. Does this make them appear anit-American, even treasonous?

This philosophy of appeasement overlooks the real world fact that most of the muslim world resents us, hates us to our core, and greatly desires to destroy us entirely. The growing socialism throughout Europe is adding to the anti-American feeling there, and those people, too would delight in seeing us fail, not only in Iraq, but in anything we attempt. They even in December released prisoners they held for years that are known enemies of our country with designs to attack us again.

Most of the antiwar, appeasement-driven people claim we as a country should not go to war as a national, political philosophy. Some few feel that it is anti-Christian to wage war. It seems that mostly the antiwar people are liberal-minded politically, preferring not to "kill" the enemy, but to "befriend" them and "talk" to them to prevent their harming us.

This seems to fly in the face of the nature of the people of God in His dealing with them. He gave the 10 commandments including, "Thou shalt not kill"; yet He commanded His own people to conquer other peoples and occupy their land, bringing "nothing' back alive. It would seem to be the nature of God to eliminate evil; yet the appeasing, antiwar doctrine would forgive Saddam for killing 100s of thousands of "innocent" people, and then berate and condemn our own government for removing the tyrant and attempting to neutralize Al Qaeda.

The liberal wing of our country is causing the enemy to, not only FEEL they have allies within our country, but to KNOW they have them and to USE these "friends" to their advantage. They know the words spoken publicly by our democratic leaders undermine our war effort makes it more likely they can recruit more homicide/suicide bombers and delay America's complete success in Iraq. They delight in the fact that more American soldiers die as a result of the antiwar sentiment weakening us and delaying our reaching our objectives.

How long will it be until we redefine treason to include those who cause more of our soldiers to die and endanger our homeland by their outcry and opposition to American policy in our fight against terrorism?

ManWalking50

NOTE: There are two other blogs by Christian writers who are supporters of our war effort and yet their highest priority is God...you will enjoy their writing if you will click on their sites seen at the left of this entry.

Looking Ahead: In the coming days the entry will be made titled, "Some Things I'd Like to See". It covers a range of interesting things from major changes I think we need to minor changes, but I think it will be things that touch all our lives.

Looking Back: In this journal entry I wrote about anitwar, appeasers. You may feel that way, and I mean no offense by pointing it out. In fact, some of you may want to look back to a comment made this week by one appeaser and antiwar proponent, who is very anti-Bush and anti-conservative republican (and, as you will see, anti-ManWalking50). You may see his comments under the entry of December 12, 2005, "What Are Some Positive Results of an American Victory in Iraq"?

There is so much debate about our war on terror and withdrawing from Iraq, I thought I would list some of the "good things" that will come out of the war we are fighting, when we are done in Iraq. They are many...and they are world-changingly significant. Twelve that are obvious in this office are as follows:

1...Iraq becomes a free and prosperous democracy, with no more mass killings and no one killing people for the way they grow a beard or curl their hair.

2...The remainder of the Arab (muslim) knows America will react to terror in a forceful and decisive way.

3...Other muslim nations will believe America will assist them to become a democracy, making them prosperous and more prone to observing human rights, valuing human life, practicing the free enterprise system, and participating in global trade.

4...America will have Iraq as an ally and friend in an extremely strategic part of the world.

5...Israel and Iraq will be much more inclined, even driven, to strike meaningful peace agreements.

6...The Middle East will be more stable and easier to deal with by the rest of the world.

7...Iraq will be another oil trading partner with the U.S. and other nations, as well as a trader in other goods.

8...A great tourist nation will be opened, and other nations will be privileged to see sites in old Babylonia and Baghdad, improving even there the economy of Iraq.

9...The size of Al Qaeda and other insurgent terror groups will be greatly reduced; their leadership will be more nearly neutralized and their effectiveness as terrorists diminished.

10..The temptation of other Arab-Muslim-Middle Eastern leaders will be less inclined to become dictators and ruthless rulers.

11..The American military branches all gained invaluable learning, training, and experience; great advances in modern, battle-proven weapons, equipment, and strategy will be gained by the U.S. defense department.

12..American character, with it's ethics and morals will have been showcased to the world to demonstrate how a western, christian, republic operates in general and operates in a time of war.

These things can be a part of the future if we don't turn tail and run prematurely from Iraq.

It is then a hope of this writer and office that the split of the politicians and the rhetoric of the Left Wing of America will quiet their tone and withhold public comments and confine their debate to closed and secured chambers, without reporting everything to the media, until the time is right and our enemies do not gain from the outcry for "retreat and surrender". (Dec. 5, 2005)

ManWalking50

Looking Ahead:
In the coming days the entries will include "Did We Just Happen or Did God Create Us?" and "Visualizing World Peace".
