The 23rd Annual Educational Conference

Next Wednesday, or a week from tomorrow, is the 23rd Annual Educational Conference, which is being held at the Radisson Hotel at the Airport in Indianapolis, Indiana.  If you can come to this, you must contact the brain injury association immediately because the time to sign up to attend is quickly passing.

Hope to see you there.       -Mark

Birthday 2005

Hi,

I am going to be some 43 years old in a few more days.  Sunday, the 28th, is my Birthday.  I was just sitting in my kitchen a moment ago and it struck me how much time had gone by, not only by me as an individual, but it has gone by me as a brain injured person too.  I haven't been just sitting here doing nothing, but all at once I am looking at time differently.  I was but 18 when my brain injury occurred, 36 when I had been alive with a brain injury as long as I had been without one, and now I am 7 more years down the road from that point.  I don't feel all that much different, but I know that I am . . .

Please remember to save your cans for our Brain Injury Group.  This is how we are able to have such nice parties and such a nice Newsletter and now even have this on-line Newsletter too.  Recycling is very important to both our group and to the environment.

Determining if you have had a mild traumatic brain injury

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Diagnostic Protocol

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Committee of the Head Injury Interdisciplinary Special Interest Group of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (1993). Definition of mild traumatic brain injury. Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, 8(3), 86-87.

Just a general shout out

Hello everyone,

I am just sitting around tonight doing nothing.  I have been writing on the Newsletter, but it is not coming freely and I am not going to force a story to come out.  Maybe later.

I took my neighbor out for some ice cream a bit earlier, but she left and I was back to doing nothing.

My Birthday is right around the corner too, had you noticed?  August 28.  I am getting old.  But you don't think about it, you just awaken each day and go about your plans; it is only on or near a Birthday that it becomes a problem that doesn't go away.

Just sitting around and listening

Hello again, I am just hanging around my place today.  It is nearly noon and I have yet to get ready for the day.  Lazy you ask, why yes I am today. . .

It is a very somber, overcast day today.  I am not driven to do anything today either, so I am just sitting around, thinking of everything that I have done wrong with my life.  From past girl-friends and how they have treated me to how I have treated people within my circle of friends and aquaintences.  It is very scary when you think of everything that your life effects throughout your tenure here on Earth.

I have also found that I am beseiged with junk mail once again.  Just sitting here typing this article in, I can watch the mail kind of settle around me just like leaves from a tree in the Fall.  Nothing together or on the same subject, but amassed the mail is becoming just a scattering of mindlessness.

More on the grill

I took the time today to affix the new shelves, that I had to remake from scratch, to the barbeque grill.  It is all clean now, and I also repainted it as well.  It is looking so good.
