My trip to Italy has been an adventure from the start. The airport experience was new to me being it was an international flight. It was my first time with a passport & having to go through security. I do not promote drugs but I was nervous & Xanax was a big help. ; )
I have learned that when you do go on a trip, your first day & last day is spent at the airport & basically shot. Also the hours difference from one location to the next, makes it all that much harder to recuperate after the plane ride. If it's a 6 hour difference it will take about 6 days to adjust to your normal sleeping pattern.
The first 4 days we had rain, with one day of sunshine in between, which was perfect for Capri. The rainy days were spent in Naples. Naples was dirty & very much like the Bronx with graffiti everywhere. The architecture anywhere in Italy was just beautiful. We had to watch for pickpocketers. Apparently that's a big problem in Naples, but then, that's anywhere. ; (
In between our few days of rain, we ventured to the Isle of Capri. This was one of my favorite days, because the weather was perfect & because it was a magnificent place to visit. All along the shores of Capri the waters were beautiful shades of blue, with cliffs of weathered stone carvings of anything your imagination can visualize.
We saw an elephant, a turtle & even the Blessed Mother. Yes, everywhere in Italy the Blessed Mother appeared, whether it was in statue form, in little alters tucked in small walls, buildings along the narrow roads .....or natural weathered carvings in the stone cliffs, She was with us throughout our tour.

Capri.
We stayed in Sorrento a lovely town on the Amalfi Peninsula. We traveled along the coast & visited Amalfi, Ravello, Paestum, Salerno, Capri, Pompeii, Ercolano & Positano....all towns along the Naples & Amalfi Coast.

Pompeii
We toured the southern part of Italy, Campania, with a large tour group. It was filled with so many places to see, it was difficult to capture the photos that I had originally planned. I made sure I purchased 19 GBs of storage space & came back with less than 6 GBs of RAW images.
With the rain in the beginning, it had permanently damaged my Olympus camera that was in my backpack. So I was down to my 20D Canon, my main camera.

Paestum
We saw 3 places with ruins; Pompeii, Ercolano & Paestum, which had 3 standing Greek Temples. This was one of my favorite places we visited. The Amalfi Coast & Capri were the most outstanding scenic sites that I have ever seen. My photos do not do it justice. You really need to view the coastline in person to understand. Ü
