My Computer-update

Ok, doesn't look like I will be upgrading my computer. I talked to a MAC technician today & discussed what my options were...... I can remove the SCSI card which might be the problem with the upgrading..... But
Even if I did & was able to upgrade my system, I would also have to add more memory, I need to the double my memory.

When I told him I needed the upgrade for CS3, he made this sound....like, forget it...
My processor is too slow now, so once I do all that, it will be worse. Sooooooooo, looks like an iMAC or MAC mini will be next....but I am leaning towards an iMAC with BIG SCREEN...Ü

I gave up on my computer. I think I will stop by a MAC repair shop tomorrow & get an estimate on how to correct my problem with my MAC. It's not broken, it just not taking the upgrade.

Well, I have my upgrade version of MAC 10.4 & my Photoshop CS3, so I plan on upgrading tomorrow. I am sure this will be an all day thing if everything goes fine....if not, my computer did not survive the upgrade...;( & I will be on thru Windows PC, I will NOT be a happy camper if that is the case.

We will see tomorrow. So this is a warning.

UPDATE: I decided to start after I posted this entry. It did not go well. It seems that my computer won't take the upgraded version. I think it might be b/c of a scsi addition on the back of my computer which I had APPLE install for my zip drive when I purchased this computer on 2001 or 2002. I have tried to remove all plugs.
I also tried restarting with the DVD disk.

21st annual 4th of July Fireworks in Southampton

Photo was a combo of a few shots. All taken with my Canon 20D w/70-300 zoom
lens, a tripod, using bulb setting, f-stop14 & manual focusing.(ISO 100) I held
down the shutter using a hand remote.

The Grucci Fireworks display was a benefit for the Southampton Fresh Air Home

AOL Community Challenge-The Magic Hour- FUN

FUN Category

The Magic hour, or Golden hour is the first & last hour of sunlight.
It's the 1/2 hour before the sun rises, & 1/2 after the sun rises. It's also the 1/2 hour before sunset & 1/2 hour after.
So with this challenge you will need a tripod & a timer or a remote.
You will also have a month to work on this. You can use a file photo, but I think it would be good if we can all try to get out & do this challenge with new photos.
I plan on taking a number of photos during the magic hour to see how the colors change. This is a personal challenge for me & I welcome all to this challenge.
This challenge starts Today May 23 & will end June 26(updated). It will be our last JUDGED category until the fall.

My intention was to capture different colors during the last half hour after
sundown. These were taken of Shinnecock Bay within the last half hour
of daylight. I believe it was 2 days of images. I wanted to do it over
again, but was unable to get out there this past weekend.

Below is the same shot as above but a wider view, which meant different colors. This is where the sun set.

Here(below) was a different angle, looking away from where the sun set.

Both images below were facing in the direction where the sun had set.

I was going to go out & find some flags, but I wanted to photograph non-flag-pole FLAGS. With the gas prices, I decided not to drive around.

So here is mine...one flying high on a flag pole...Ü

Jeannette posted some photos of a Palace she visited & it reminded me of a Palace in Italy. Royal Palace of Caserta had 1200 rooms & was the largest palace in all of Italy.

1200 rooms is a lot of rooms to clean...Ü

Some words of advice.... Do not upgrade unless you really can afford it.(even though you get a great price)
I purchased a new camera, got a great price & will be selling my old camera to help pay for the new one.
Well, not knowing that when you buy an upgraded item they also upgrade files. A RAW image taken with one(new) camera is different from a RAW image from another(older) camera.
So now I need to get Photoshop CS3 (about $600) so I can open my new RAW images. In order to do that I need to upgrade my computer system($163) to use this new software. So now, this new camera is going to have an additional expense of $763.
Now, it does come with software to open up RAW images, but it's not the same & I think Camera RAW
is an excellent program. ALSO, I went to try to use the DPP software & could not open the userguide pdf file, because my PDF Acrobat Reader program is outdated.....
SHEEEEESH, By Sunday night, I lost patience....needed to walk away from the whole thing. It's been a week since I ordered the camera (got it the next day)
I have come to terms with it & now will have to upgrade my computer, then I will work on the CS3 next.
