Iraq's elections
There are but a few days in world history that have such an impact as a day like Sunday - a day that will be repeated over and over in the annals of human history. Such was the case with the end of World War 2, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and such will be the case in Iraq. It will be interesting what spin the liberals will put on this day twenty years from now.13 million Iraquis turned out to vote, 60% of the population. Iraquis were seen dancing in the streets. This is what it is about. What an ingenious idea! - to use indelible ink on one's forefinger to prevent voter fraud, because not only did it prevent voter fraud, but it was a badge of courage - a sign of freedom that said no to the insurgents and yes to a free Iraq
This election process delegitmized the so-called Iraqui insurgency. Now for Iran and Syria to follow suit. The Democrats are running out of steam with nowhere to hide. It can only hurt their party.
Bush will go down as one of the great presidents in history for his vision in making a free Iraq just as Reagan did with the end of the cold war. I can't wait til the libs come and post comments to say it was a myth Reagan was responsible for the end of the cold war. Twenty years from now, they will say the same about Bush.

Three observations:
1. Even liberals are hoping the election is a turning point for the people of Iraq
2. It is too early to tell yet (Mission Accomplished banners are premature)
3. It is not clear that Bush will get much credit if things turn out okay in the end; after all the beginning and middle of this story are pretty bad. Even a drunk driver makes it home alive sometimes...
Peace,
