Hi you all. This is my second attempt at
making an entry, so this one will be much shorter

John and I are back from the hospital. He
has bronchitis and Influenza B. They ran a lot of tests on him, and yes, they
can test for the flu nowadays. That surprised me, I didn't know they could test
for a viral infection. So he has a bacterial infection (bronchitis) and a viral
infection (the flu).

He was given Tamaflu (for the
flu) and Levaquin (for bronchitis). I was surprised, once again, that there was
a medication that could help one get over the flu. The doctor said it speeds
you through the recovery process. Wow, imagine that.

So John just woke up after a few hours of
sleep in his own bed. His temperature is 102.1 degrees right now. Drat. I
thought it would go down, but I guess not. Maybe it will go up for awhile. At
least he doesn't have "gram negative bacteria", which could be deadly.
Actually, he probably doesn't have anything extremely serious, but he
could. I just read on John's discharge sheet a few minutes ago that there were
some additional cultures that were done last night, and they take 24 hours to
grow, and if the doctor finds anything in a day or two when the results of
the cultures come back, he will notify us.

One more thing. John's immunities are
very low. They did a test at the hospital. But his immune system
is not compromised enough to keep him in the hospital. So they released him
into my care at home.

They told me John would have to stay in
bed 10 days.

So, like, I am going to be plenty tired,
as my fibro is acting up and my shoulder/arm is trying to heal. And I am going
to have to do everything myself, as well as take care of John. Oh well. I am
just so tired, because we have had a lot going on lately. I need to take it one
day at a time, one thing at a time, so I don't get overwhelmed.

Okay, let me get this posted before it
gets eaten or I delete it, LOL. I need to get back to John also. And go to the
drug store and get him some medication.

I will have to take the bus, as my
narcolepsy will not allow me to drive yet. Ugh, there is a transfer and it will
take hours before I get home, between getting the script filled and waiting in
line between transfers, LOL. There is, like, a half hour to an hour wait for a
switch over to the next bus when I transfer!

Thank you all for your support and
prayers. I am sorry if I scared you with that last entry, saying John was so
sick. He could be a lot worse. Poor guy feels miserable though.

Okay, off to get some things
done.

Love you all, Krissy

John and I are off to the Emergency
Room right now. He has a fever of 101, which is not high for the average
person, but too high for a post bone marrow transplant patient.

He is going to get his wbc and anc checked
first (to see how his immune system is doing), then he will be cultured. The
cultures will see if he has a serious bacterial infection, such as "gram
negative". That is what he had when he was in the hospital this past
Thanksgiving with a 104.5 temperature and almost didn't make it.

So I don't know if he will be hospitalized
or sent home. We will see. Could you all pray? Thanks.

Krissy

Click on the entry above. It says it all. John is finally doing fantastically. We got some lab results back and found out how spectacular he was doing. Thing about it is, I forgot to mention the most important thing of all. John is in remission from two cancers. In the past ten years he has had Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and also bone marrow cancer (MDS) that was going into AML (leukemia). Now he has neither cancer. Glory be to God, now and forever. Go read the entry if you haven't yet!

I'm a little scared. John has a fever of 102.6. And he has almost no immune system. His ANC is 0.4. That is just about 0. Which means, well, he needs antibiotics before he, uhm, like, dies. So I am only on here to ask you to pray. We are heading to the hospital right now. We're going local, and if the treatment there isn't enough for him, then he'll be transferred to Hershey Medical Center. If it is enough locally, then he will be treated and released to home. We will see what happens.

So please pray. I will come back as soon as I can to update.

Love you all,

Krissy

It's Tammy. Everyone can now write in this journal. You don't have to send it to me anymore! So please drop in and give her your thoughts and prayers. You may put in graphics or whatever you want. So, let's give them what we did before when John was sick. Ourselves. Thanks friends!

Hi, it's Krissy here! I'm trying the new feature on AOL journals. It's called Shared Journals. This journal has now become a Shared Journal (because Tammy made it that way!). If Tammy has invited you, you can now write entries in this Gazette! You don't have to email your entries to her anymore and have her post them. Just simply click on the add entry button yourself, just like you would do in your own journal, and write and post an entry! Remember, you can post what you want in the Gazette - words of encouragement, poems, graphics, songs, entries, anything. John and I have ALWAYS appreciated anything you have said to us. And now we can more easily communicate with YOU.

I wanted to say that I love you all SO much. Through the whole ordeal that we went through, you all have been here for us. I want to share something with you quickly. I am in a group and was asked the question today of What was the nicest thing someone has ever done for you online? I wrote in the email that the nicest thing anyone had ever done for me was not, an anyone, but a whole group of people. Jlanders. I said that they had done three things: Number one: sent things to John and me before we went to Hershey, and continued while we were there. Number two: set up and continued The Gazette, and Number three: hosted blood drives and gave blood in droves in the name of John. The group that I told this to was dumbfounded at you all's kindness. As I think about all you have done, and continue to do, I am in tears.

Finally, I want to tell you how John is doing. He is doing a lot better. He has been neutropenic for a month though (almost no immune system). For some reason he has not caught anything (I think it is the Lord). He is just not getting real sick. He does wear his mask everywhere. And he gets tired. But he is doing okay. The other thing is his kidney dysfunction problems. He has 25 - 30 % kidney function. If it drops to 20% he will probably have to have dialysis and/or a kidney transplant. Dialysis in the past made him very sick.

Other than that he is doing great. He is still in remission from the two cancers. It's unbelievable. We rejoice daily. We have as much fun as we can every day! We are looking forward to the holidays and having lots of fun. We are going to have friends over on Thanksgiving, which should be a blast!

Okay, gotta run.

We love you all,

Krissy :)
