2 out of 3 ain't bad
Going into the series the Mets held a 5 game lead on both the Phillies and the Braves, coming out of the series they hold a 6 game advantage. Coming in as a Met fan you had to be worried, the Braves had just been swept and the Mets were playing subpar baseball but the Mets just can not win at Tuner Field as they now possess an all time record of 22-52 there, need I say more. But after Tom Glavine pitched a gem, that was closed out by Aaron Heilman and Billy Wagner the Mets clinched their first series win at Turner Field since August of 2003, could this be a sign of things to come? David Wright who has been struggling after a blazing hot start came up big in the series Opener as he hit two home runs allowing Pedro to earn his 5th victory of the early season, becoming the first Met pitcher to start off 5-0 since our buddy Doc did it in '88. In the second game Lo Duca hit his first home run as a Met proving to be the only offense needed to ensure Glavine a win. For the third game, things like this are obviously going to happen over the course of the season you just can only hope they happen earlier rather than later. Trachsel had his worst outing in the Randolph era lasting just 3 and 2 thirds but there are many positives to come out of it as well. For one thing Jose Reyes walked 3 times to put that into perspective, Reyes walked 27 times last year in 161 games, wow. Carlos Beltran started the past two games and hit a home run today along with tracking down a deep fly ball to center in the 5th inning really exerting pressure on his hamstring. Jorge Julio finally has shown some prowess as he has had great control over his slider and fastball. When in the zone his slider is up there as one of the toughest pitches to hit as it has great bite to compliment its speed. Julio let a fastball get too much of the plate for the now red hot Jeff Francouer for his only mistake of the game. All in all April was a successful month for the men in blue and orange as they hold a 6 game lead on both the Braves and Phillies. If the past is any indication of what the future brings the Mets are in good shape as this season closely models those of the late 80's for the Mets. Each season in franchise history in which the Mets have held a lead of 7 games or more they have made the playoffs, lets keep the streak alive, This season is 20 years in the making...Ya Gotta Believe!
Record: 16-8

This is our time!
