Bonds Gets Plunked...
I know you all have been getting sick on this roller coaster ride that we call Barry Bonds' life and I feel your pain. But a little humor just may brighten your day.
One hour after stating that the home run record was Hank Aaron's and that is how he would always see it, Barry Bonds was hit in the head at batting practice. The Giants are in Milwaukee for a series and the juiced slugger may have more to fear than the opposing team. You may not find it too funny that Bonds got plunked but he deserves something for bluntley cheating the game of baseball. So, Barry, you may what to just stick to playing the game and stop talking about approaching 715 home runs.
I would much prefer you to never pass Ruth's record but that will never happen unless some "freak" accident accurs. I, as well as many other baseball fans do not want to look at a list of baseball's biggest sluggers and see Barry Bonds in front of Babe Ruth in the home run column. Thank the lord that MLB officials feel the same way. Reports are that Bonds' 714th and 715th home runs will not be authenticated because they have not broken a record.
Back when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were threatening Roger Marris' single season home run record, each home run ball was authenticated. The lucky fans to catch the home run balls were reached and their baseballs were numbered and branded with a holographic sticker so they could not be assumed fake. The same thing will not be done for Bonds' home run balls. As already heard, the MLB recognizes the breaking of records and not the achievement of reaching second place. I love it, so competitive. I think you'll agree with me once again when I say noone likes Barry Bonds, even his children are on the fence with it.
