Phils Sticking Tough

(Lieber captures his 1st win)

After losing a tough series to the Pirates, the Phils came right back and took a very much needed division series from the Marlins. Florida's bats let them down as usual and Philadelphia was able to jump all over them. Last night' game was their clincher with a 7-5 victory after trailing late.

Florida held a 1-0 lead in the 7th but that was soon to change. Outfielder Aaron Rowand stepped up to the plate and quickly fell into the hole with a 1-2 count. To his luck, the very next pitch was in the middle of his wheelhouse and Rowand drove it deep to the wall for a 3-run triple.

As everyone knows, the Marlins are struggling to produce runs this season since Miguel Cabrera proves to be the majority of their power. So, the struggled like a fish(or Marlin) out of water to make a comeback but it was too late. They were able to tack on 4 more runs but that was easily matched by the Phils squad who also put up 4.

The Phillies now kick off a series with division rival, Atlanta. Both Philadelphia and Atlanta have identical records of 12-14 which puts them 5.0 games back of the Mets. New York lost a tough one to Washington last night, 6-2, and now the Mets are in a series with Pittsburgh. Let's go Pirates!

Phils Record: 12-14
