The Tip of the Iceberg
When we got off the plane, I felt like a typical
traveler: travel clothes, travel bag, and the aches and pains of
flying on a plane. But, then the atypical started to
happen. I approached someone holding a Milken sign with my name on
it, and he whisked me and my guest off to baggage claim. As I got my
bag, he promptly took it for me. "Nice," I
thought. He said something about how they had a car waiting for us,
and yes, it definitely was a car: a Lincoln Town Car, to be
precise! I definitely felt underdressed among the leather interior,
but very nice indeed. As I was driving—well, being driven—down the
road, I thought, This is such a nice way to be treated, especially since
teachers don't often get to do these things.
I can't wait to see how the rest of the Conference goes. Everyone I've talked to has said that this is still just the tip of the iceberg... How exciting to be a part of this grand adventure!
