They complain that people are now comparing ebay to Nordstrums? I don't think so, I've only heard them compared to wal-mart and the dollar store.
This story (below) has the "noise" quote, although he doesn't call the sellers "noise" directly, he says something like 'some people won't like the changes but we can't listen to the average noise.'
It looks like a lot changed when they hired the IT guy from wal-mart. He thinks because AFTER he got the job he sold his dining table on ebay that he knows what ebay is about. What a joke. If they hadn't paid and then threatened to neg him if he filed a non paying bidder then he might know what ebay can be like.
The fact that they began to "focus on the buyer" is telling. It is unclear who is ebay's "buyer." The truth is that the sellers are the buyers of ebay services and that the merchandise buyers are OUR customers. They are skipping over us and our needs and value to the site to go to the end user. This is where their mistake was made. Wal-mart sells directly to the buyer and they are acting like they do too, but they don't and those buyers aren't their customers, they are ours and we can take them with us.
Somebody mis-read the situation, but then what can you expect from people who have never done the seller's job and don't understand it?
