Subject: UK Sellers Disgusted by Ebay's Tactics As Well

eBay's policy changes aren't only being enacted in the US - they are World Wide -- affecting millions upon millions of people, their families, and their communities all around the world. In the U.K. (United Kingdom, or Britain, in other words), eBay is REQUIRING that Sellers take Paypal (an eBay owned electronic payment site) and NOTHING ELSE for use in electronic payments. And, of course, eBay not only gets a cut from a Seller when they LIST and auction, and another cut from the Seller (8.75% PLUS a flat fee) when the item SELLS, but ANOTHER cut from the Seller when the Buyer pays the Seller using eBay!
Cut and cut and cut and cut -- eBay steadily cuts DEEPLY into the Seller's profits nowadays -- and FORBIDS the Sellers from passing ON these costs to the Buyer either as an "eBay Sales Tax" OR through increased 'handling' costs on the shipping charges -- so there is NO WAY a Seller can show a profit on eBay anymore -- though EBAY certainly profits from the deal -- from BEGINNING to END -- and it's THIS type of behavior which is going to be the END of eBay as their "store's shelves" are emptied by the very SELLERS who stocked those shelves to begin with!
Imagine a HUGE online Walmart -- but its shelves are EMPTY and the Buyers can find nothing they want to buy.
That's going to be the "eBay of the Future"!
Anyway, enough of my 'rant' -- here's what the UK eBay Seller had to say:
Ebay's attitude towards all sellers will certainly cost them market share. I haven't used Ebay in almost 2 months and have not really missed them!
I moved my listings to eCrater and have had numerous sales. Ebay postures as if they are the only game in town....when they are NOT. Now, they ARE most expensive to use...bar none! ...with high listing fees on unsuccessful auctions(which average out at about 60%-70% sitewide).
The UK's main alternative seems to be Ebid, with a fairly nice growing volume.
Since my business is considered as unwanted on Ebay(even with a 1500 feedback...all positive with 4.9 stars across the board)...I will post to other sites that appreciate my business.
Especially after reading on Ebay's forum about a buyer who stated he was PAID a bonus for leaving negative feedback on an Ebay seller! I guess Ebay is banking on keeping the alleged "discount for sellers with high feedback marks" as unattainable.
Typical Ebay tripe.
