Feeling Loopy

Magical Massage

I have discovered the wonderful world of medical massage.  When my physical therapist recommended it, I thought "Yeah sure. Another bizarre Zen-like Ithaca experience and a complete waste of time and money." How wrong could I be?  Oh, so very wrong indeed.

I only agreed to it because it was a medical recommendation that was supposed to work in concert with my physical therapy.  I walked into the room and the lights were dimmed, candles were lit and Andreas Vollenweider was quietly playing in the background.  My first thought was "Please! Not some Eastern mystical nonsense."  Then I started to relax, just standing there and thought "Actually, this isn't too bad.  This is sort of nice"  I then proceeded to shed clothing ( being left alone for modesty sake)  The message itself concentrated on my lower back and legs, ending up with a brief foot massage.  It was the most incredibly wonderful experience.  After 30 minutes, I was so relaxed, I could hardly walk.  I felt, literally, drugged.  I was beginning to wonder if I would be able to drive home.

I eventually made it home and proceeded to walk around the rest of the day with a stupid grin on my face.  Back pain?  Pshaw!  Stress and anxiety?  What's that?  I know I will eventually come down from this high, but who cares?  I get to go back next week :)

So does your medical insurance cover the message?  Even in part?

I received a massage as a gift once from my stepmother.  Her massage therapist came to the house, with table, and I was able to go pretty much straight from the message table to bed.  I wonder if your therapist would travel?  Sounds like bliss, though, either way.

I love that loose, floaty feeling.  I sometimes get it after a good water aerobics session, like the one we had tonight.  It's so comfy to fall asleep when I feel like that...  mmmmm.
