Rowe's Grocery Store

Yall know that I live in Orange Park, Florida.  We no longer have Albertson's.  It is now Rowe's.  You would not believe how much better the store is now.  It seems so mucn bigger and brighter.  Mr. Rowe doesn't have all the displays all over the place.  I was in there on Tues. Oct 4 and it was getting all cluttered up again with tables and racks on the front line.  I just happen to run into Mr. Rowe and you won't believe this but the man actually listened to me and talked to me.  I told him how much better the store looked until he started putting the clutter back.  Well, low and behold I was back in there on Wed, Oct 5, and the clutter on the front line was GONE.

I was at the meat department on Wed and due to the clutter on the back line now it was almost impossible to get to the meat cooler.  You just can't move back there still.  That's the way it was before he took over and back then no one cared.  He has a rice display at the front door, a rice display at the meat counter a aisle with shelves with rice on it.  I guess he just doesn't want anyone to forget their rice.  By the way, that rice, Blue Ribbon, is not worth spending yall's money on.  It won't cook up right.  Part of it will get done and the other part stays just like when you poured it from the bag.

Back to the meat department.  I was having a problem with finding a certain kind of stew meat and durn if one of the meat employees didn't come right over and help me.  Not only that she went right back in the meat cutting room and had me some beef short ribs cut.  That never happened before.  I was totally amazed and pleased with the service I got from them.  They even had smiles on their faces and didn't act like I was a bother to them even tho I was calling the short ribs by a name they never heard of, they knew what I was looking for.  I just loved it.

Now one more suggestion, Mr. Rowe.  Don't spend money on the mail outs and all those other places that want your money.  You can continue to keep your prices low by saving that money for yourself and improvements.  But most important you can continue to save us, the customers money.  It is so nice to be able to afford to buy one or two extras that we haven't been able to buy due to the high prices.  Some of us are on a very limited, small amount of money each month and can only afford to get the items that we just have to  have and some of them we couldn't get before cause of the high prices.  There are a lot of people on these kinds of budget and can only get the food we have to have but we even like to have a few items that aren't just necessary to keep us alive.  I just love to see the hand made signs taped to the windows and walls.  It reminds me of the ole timey stores.

I had to stop shopping at the deli.  There was this little girl that told you want you wanted to eat and buy and would always cut my deli meat from the tail end of the meat.  I haven't tried it since Mr. Rowe has taken over so I don't know if that has improved.

Then there is my cashiers.  I call them mine cause I only go to these three when they are working, a lady I don't know her name, but she always has a smile on her face and always has the time to talk and be friendly with the shoppers, Tameka, sorry if I misspelled your name, and lets not forget Curley.  These three always makes us feel that we are so special to them and are so glad we came in.  I have been known to wait in line for these girls and I have watched and listened and they treat everyone with the same respect and joy of seeing them and cashing them out.   Then there is only one bag man or whatever they are called this day and time.  He always makes you feel like he just can't wait to help you with your groceries.  He even knows not to mash your bread, as these three cashiers knows how to back your food.  They don't break your eggs, mash your bread and bags meat with meat and frozen items with frozen items.  You don't get home and find your paper products or can good all wet from the frozen foods and sticky from the meat dripping on them.

I really think Mr. Rowe understands one very important fact: word of mouth can be your BEST or WORSE form of advertizement.  And I have a big mouth.  Also, he is very much aware as are my three cashiers, that without us, there wouldn't be a store or job.  Now wouldn't that be a shame?

If you haven't shopped in there yet you really need to.  I just know you will love the store and most of the employees.  It will be really nicer when the back line gets cleaned up but it is still a great place to shop and get to know the employees.  You won't believe how good the store smells and how clean it is includingthe shelves.  You are really in for a treat.

So come on in  for a wonderful shopping experience.
