From the will of Sampson Lee: "I give & bequeathe unto my son in law Eden Dudley one note of hand given to me by sd Dudley the 6th of April 1814 for Sixty Seven dollars & fifty cent, also one dollar in Cash, to him & his heirs forever...." I give & bequeathe unto my Grand Daughter Nancy Daniel & her children the daughter of Eden Dudley, one Negro girl named Candie & her increase, to her & her children forever...." Since Susan Lee, the wife of Eden Dudley and the mother of Nancy Lee Daniel was not mentioned in Sampson Lee's will, it might be assumed that she died before her father wrote his will in 1828. In addition, since no other children of Eden and Susan (Lee) Dudley were mentioned in Sampson Lee's will, one might postulate that Susan died in childbirth with Nancy or sometime thereafter, but before bearing any additional children. This paragraph documents the fact that Elam Dudley was Sampson's son-in-law, and that there was another Lee daughter in addition to Temperance and Susan. Also, since no children of Elam Dudley and the unknown Lee daughter were listed as heirs in Sampson Lee's will, one might deduce that this couple never had any children or their children did not survive until 1828 when Sampson Lee wrote his will. From the will of Sampson Lee: "I give & bequeathe unto my son in law Elam Dudley one dollar in cash to him & his heirs forever...." This paragraph documents the fact that Elam Dudley was Sampson's son-in-law, and that there was another Lee daughter in addition to Temperance and Susan. Also, since no children of Elam Dudley and the unknown Lee daughter were listed as heirs in Sampson Lee's will, one might deduce that this couple never had any children or their children did not survive until 1828 when Sampson Lee wrote his will.
