Knock, knock

Anybody here?

I haven't updated in five weeks, so I thought I'd drop by and share.

I lost 3 pounds this week for a total of 49 pounds in 21 weeks.  Only one more pound and I'll be at 50!  Woo Hoo!  My husband has lost 57 pounds.

Hope you're all doing well.

Perhaps a helpful weight loss tool.......

Well, I don't feel so bad...it looks as if no one has stopped by here for awhile.  I did want to share something I saw on Martha Stewart's show last week.  They were talking about weight loss, etc and provided the viewers with a neat chart to figure out how many calories you had to eliminate to loose weight.  I'm providing two links...I hope they work for you.  I printed out their instructions and the chart & I need to cut 387 (rounded off to 400) calories a day to start loosing.  I'm still working on that.  I have however cut way down on my consumption of Pepsi and/or Dr. Pepper.  I don't drink the diet stuff because of all the bad chemicals & the stuff gives me a head ache and usually a gut ache too.  Anyway, I hope these links work. It's helpful to print this information out so you can figure how much you need to cut back to help in weight loss.  Here goes; http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/web/pdfs/2008Q1/tvs_3120_022108_weightloss_1.pdf

And then here's the chart;

http://images.marthastewart.com/images/content/web/pdfs/2008Q1/tvs_3120_022108_calories_used.pdf

I've still not gone back to Curves...my knee is still bad and I just don't want to make it worse...or am I just making excuses ?  I continue to be as active as possible here at home but also am spending way too much time sitting & playing on the computer. However some of that time, I'm listing lots of stuff on eBay & Craig's List......trying to de-clutter around here. So that's what I call "almost like work!"

Hope this finds everyone well & happy.......... Linda

Back Again! :)  Where is Everybody??

Hello ~

Had another weigh-in today.  I lost another 3.5 pounds for a grand total of 39.5 pounds in 16 weeks.  Still, lots of poundage to go!  LOL

Hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!  And remember...macaroni salad, potato salad, and deviled eggs are all pretty high in points!  Substitute a fruit salad, perhaps?  :)

Boy, I'm Slipping

I forgot to update last week!  I hadn't even realized.

So last week, I lost 2 pounds, which put me at a 33.5 lb. loss.

This week, I lost another 2.5 pounds which puts my grand total at 36 pounds in 15 weeks.

I ordered some new clothes too.  :)

It's been a long time~

I'm still here...kind of been "lurking" because I'm not really in the exercise mode since I'm still waiting to see the Orthopedic Surgeon regarding my "wounded knee" next Tuesday.

I feel really bad because I'm unable to join all you gals in your exercise routines.  But I am keeping as active around the house here as I can.   I've even mowed the lawn a few times~but paid for it the next day with a really sore knee.  I just can't stand lounging around the house like a slug.

I did stop by Curves yesterday because I got a call that I needed to come in and watch a video about a new feature at Curves.  It's like an electronic personal trainer at each machine.  So I watched the video explaining the new feature and signed up it.  Those who pay their own membership have to pay a little extra each month but mine is paid for by my Medicare supplement so it won't cost me anything.  YA~HOO !!!

I just hope the doctor has good news for me (i.e. no surgery) next week and that I can get back on track.

Meanwhile, I have been reading your entries and envying you all from the sidelines.  You're all doing great.

Keep up the good work....Linda  http://journals.aol.com/lsfp1960/LindasWorld/

Addendum to Previous Post

My poll is already starting to garner results.  So far "squats" and "other" are tied.  At Curves we do a pretty good all-around workout, so I hadn't been neglecting any one part of my body.  A couple of the commenters have suggested something for my upper body, since women tend to overlook that.  I think that's a good idea, but so are the squats.  I carry extra weight around my abdomen, breasts, and back.  My legs are still really good, just not as toned as I'd like, although with the walking I've been doing, they're getting there!  But, as I said, the Curves work-out hits on upper body, abs, and legs.  So this month I'll concentrate on whatever the poll shows as the general consensus, and next month perhaps I'll concentrate on something else.  But I'll still do crunches, too.  I'd hate to lose the momentum there!

Thanks to everyone for participating.

Exercising For Comments -- Update

Last weekend I did not do any crunches because of the intestinal thing I had.  But I resumed them on Monday.  I have still not done 50 on any one day; the most I've done was 40.  And one day last week -- I can't believe I didn't mark it down on my calendar!! -- Thomas looked at me and said, "You must be doing something right, because you're looking really good!"  And I do feel like my clothes are fitting more loosely.  Yeah me!

This month I'd like to try something different.  I think I'll alternate crunches with something else, but I don't know what.  I am going to Curves two or three times a week, and I am still walking almost every day.  I think I should ask for suggestions from the J-Land community, don't you?  What should I do?  Jumping Jacks?  (At my age and after two kids -- do you think I should?)  Push ups?  I have some dumbbells -- perhaps I should do something with them?  (Something exercise-related, I mean.  Using them as paperweights isn't an option here.)

How about a poll!  We all love polls!!  If you think I should do something not on the poll, then feel free to start a write-in campaign.

*Note:  I'm copying this post from an entry on Dusty Pages, and I will combine the votes from both journals.

Frustration Mode

Well, I have now jumped on the Bandwagon.

I have committed to eating better, to looking ahead at a healthy lifestyle, and now I get to experience what a lot of other people have experienced on their own quest...

I actually GAINED three pounds!

I know why.  I lost weight rapidly because I couldn't eat.  And I threw up all the time.  Now that I can eat, keep food down, and my new man takes great pleasure in cooking for me and watching me enjoy his efforts (I guess that giant jar of "Red Vines" is not helping the situation, any, either), my body is freaking out!  Transitioning from "starvation mode" to "nourished mode" is a lot of freaking work, you know.

So...

Next step is to get my fat butt outside and moving.  Work has settled down, so all the lab wrestling has ended for a while!  Can't rely on "free exercise" for a while!  LOL!

I did purchase a DVD entitled, "Tank Top Arms, Bikini Belly, Boy shorts bottom".

Hey, one can dream!!!

And it certainly can't hurt, right?

Onward...
