Crushed

When I clean the house really good, like dust and sweep, you'd think someone would notice, and since there is only one other inhabitant here...notsomuch.  When I've gone shopping and I'm sporting something new, you'd think someone would pay me some mind.  Um, no.  I got my haircut on Monday, at the salon at work, so I looked different in the evening when I got home, than I did in the morning when I left, and it had been 8 weeks since my last cut, so I was pretty shaggy.

Me: I'm crushed.  I got a haircut and you didn't even notice.

Glen: When did you get it cut? (hoping I would say today, and he would't be in over his head in hot water)

Me: Yesterday

Glen: Oh

I wanted to wait a week before I told him, but then he'd probably say, "looks the same to me".  I'd have been doubly crushed!

Although to his credit, I did my nails in a crimson color, and he said, "I don't like dark colors".  Go figure...

Talk soon...

Men have to be taught to say, "I see you got your hair cut." Or, "Is that a new outfit?" Generally, they neither notice nor care. I have learned to accept that and don't expect a response when I get my hair done. It makes life easier for me not to even think about anyone commenting. Sometimes they notice, they just don't think it's a Big Deal. Do you say something to him every time he gets his hair cut?

Do I sound defensive, lol? I don't mean to be! He would love you if you shaved your head. He might even notice, but he might be afraid to comment :P

Men need to wake up and take notice. We are not just the gofer when you get those pangs of hunger, or need a certain shirt washed.....I never thought we resembled wall flowers, did you? (Hugs) Indigo

I always used to have my oldest girl remind me when my wife went to the hair salon. I was quick to learn that it was always better for my health to respond positively to the new look.

    LOL

    MEN

    PHOOEY.

i can GUARANTEE you that the females you work with noticed, even if they did not say anything. Women always notice other women and when they change something.
    LOVE you

    Hi Myra,
Well, I can understand how you'd want these things to be noticed but -- at the same time -- no reason to feel crushed just because Glen doesn't always comment on them.  I don't know if Glen reads your blog, but maybe you could start a new system:  Incorporate "hints" into your blog postings such as "What a great day today, I dusted and swept up a storm ... I'm sure Glen is bound to be thrilled."  Then, you don't have to say anything at all.  Glen can just read the blog and tell you how thrilled he is ... After a while, it might even seem spontaneous!
    Best,
    Marty
