Pudge Rodriguez had his day cut short by home plate umpire Ted Barrett for arguing balls and strikes in the fourth inning. It was just before Nate Robertson served up the pitch that lead to the Grand Slam in the fourth inning which gave the A's the lead 4-3.

Rodriguez was very upset getting into the chest of Barrett during the discussion and he actually bumped into the ump and I am sure when Barrett turns in his report there will be disciplinary action taken I am sure.

Well, Pudge didn't stop with on the field yelling he decided that he was going to toss equipment from the dugout onto the field. Tiger Manager Alan Trammell thinks that he may get fined because he tossed the equipment on the field. He may be right, but I think he will get suspended for bumping into Barrett during their discussion.

The Tigers eventually lost the game 9-5 and it has a lot to do with the Grand Slam in the fourth inning that was also part of the arguing that Rodriguez was doing with Barrett.

Tigers 6-4 win over the Rockies

The Tiger's ended a 4 game slide that pulled them four games under the .500 mark that they struggled hard to reach. They have one more game with one of the worst teams in MLB and hopefully they can finish off the Rockies.

Jeremy Bonderman locked up his 7th win of the season against 4 losses with a solid six inning performance. Troy Percival sealed the deal for his 4th save and hopefully he will rebound from his shaky start to the season.

The Detroit Tiger's have been flirting with .500 for quite a while now and they finally put it altogether. The surprising thing to me was that it was against the Baltimore Orioles and not the last palce team.

I really was starting to believe that it wouldn't happen this season, but low and behold they got the pitching and hitting they needed to put together a streak they needed to reach the .500 mark.

The Tiger's pulled out another come from behind victory just as lit looked like the Ranger's were going to run away with it. Jeremy Bonderman had a little shaky outing but Trammel showed he had faith in our ace that he left him in and finished up with Urbina for his 9th save.

The Tiger relievers are not blowing save opportunities like they were in the beginning of the season. They are lead Urbina who seems to have fully recovered from the personal tragedy when his mother was kidnapped and held for ransome.

With this victory the Tiger's again move back to within 2 games of .500 and still more than halft the season to go.

The Tigers are about to embark on a home series with the Texas Rangers that could in fact put us over the .500 mark when it is over. We come into the series 23-25 and had just completed a sweep of the potent Baltimore Orioles.

If our pitching can hold together and our bats continue to breakout of their mini slump just maybe we can sweep the Rangers and climb above the .500 mark. I really would like to see Ivan Rodriguez get his average back above .300 where it should be and couple of out power hitters need to slug a few more homeruns in this series with the Rangers.

The Detroit Tiger's pulled off the sweep of the Orioles and improved to 23-25 on the season. Early in the game it looked like Baltimore would keep us from the sweep, but thanks to a big 7th inning we took the lead 8-6 and that is how it finished.

Demitri Young was the big bat for the Tiger's going 4-3 including a solo homerun in the 6th and knocking in a total of 3 runs and scoring three runs himself. Monroe had the big hit (3 run homerun) in the 6 run 7th inning.

Spurling recorded his first win in relief and Urbina recorded his 8th save of the season after a very slow start to the year.

The Tiger's are back to their winning ways and if they can pull off the series sweep of the Baltimore Orioles tomorrow they will find themselve back within striking distance of .500 again.

Today's 5-3 win was a combination of solid pitching and timely hitting; Jason Johnson had a solid outing almost making a complete game and Omar Infante sealed the deal with a homerun in the 8th inning with Pudge Rodriguez on third.

The Detroit Tiger's were on a roll and looking to gain more steam on Saturday, but the White Sox didn't want to cooperate. Our pitching staff just couldn't hold the lead they were given and eventually the White Sox took the lead and won the game.

I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, we lost most of the one run games this year. The relievers that we have in our bullpin just can't get the job done. Maybe we need to ask our starters to pitch complete games and not have to rely on the relivers.

Our batters continue to hit the ball and score runs, but I guess not enough to over come the runs given up by the pitchers.

Losing 4-3 when you have been winning 3-1 for most of the game is a bit disheartening but I have grown used to this with the Tiger's. We have several hitters with batting averages over .300 and even one over .400 (Nook Logan) but we need to reduce the numbers of players left on base and in scoring position.

After a very rocky start the second week ended much better with two very convincing wins and two great pitching performances. Jeremy Bonderman showed why he is our ace of the staff with a very commanding performance on Saturday and Maroth bounced back from a very difficult first start and won on Sunday.

The week started with Minnesota Twins and we didn't fair so well. The Tigers got swept by the Twins in first meeting of the two teams.

Minnesota 5, Detroit 4

Minnesota 8, Detroit 4

Minnesota 10, Detroit 4

Kansas City 6, Detroit 5

Detroit 7, Kansas City 1

Detroit 6, Kansas City 1

Hopefully the Tigers will settle down and build off these two wins after digging themselves a deep hole.

The Tiger's finished the first week of the season on a down note, but they still ended up with a 3 - 3 record. It seems that our pitching was a bit shakey and our hitting was not as consistant as we needed.

Results from the first week

Game #1 Tigers won 11-2 over the KC Royals

Game #2 Tigers lost 7-2 to the KC Royals

Game #3 Tigers won 7-3 over the KC Royals

Game #4 Tigers lost 4-3 to the Cleveland Indians

Game #5 Tigers won 11-1 over the Cleveland Indians

Game #6 Tigers lost 7-6 to the Cleveland Indians

Individual Leaders

Batting Ave. .455 C. Guillen

As you can tell by the stats Dimitri Young was definitely the top batter for the Tigers for his offensive performance.

Jeremy Bonderman was the star pitcher for the first week even though he didn't have a spectacular game today. But he is going to have a solid season.
