Shelled Pecans : Shelled Pecan prices are starting high and will continue to hold there price and go up. The shortage of pecans are a tell tale sign so why are custom pecan harvesters being offered so little? 2006 pecan paper shell wholesale price are bringing 1.50 - 1.75 and native pecans expect to bring starting .55 - .75 way to low is my opinion. Shoot for a dollar guys. Whats your opinion and news and views, lets blog. http://www.papepecan.com/buy_pecans.htm John

Shelled Pecans and Inshell Pecans are pouring in from the new season crop of 2006 pecans. Are you ready for the Holiday Seasons? Good food and good times with family and friends are the way I like to spend Holidays with Thanksgiving and Christmas full of joy and good eats to include pecans. Shelled Pecans are some peoples favorite foods for Holiday Seasons and some eat shelled pecans all year round. The shelled nuts are used in baking and other cooked foods but also delicious just raw over ice cream or salads. This is the time of year to buy shelled pecans for the fresh new crop, although they keep in the freezer up to two years. For good news to our website we have included a Buy It Now Store for Inshell Pecans and Shelled Pecans. Buy Pecans and Take a look Happy Holidays.

Pecan News in Seguin is that the anual Pecan Festival that was always in Novenber is now being postponed until April next year. At first I thought it was going to be put off all together and that would of been terrible news for Guadalupe County. I voiced my two cents worth to at least two people that have some say in the matter and feel better that at least they plan next April to have it. To the Seguin Chamber Of Commerce and the Guadalupe Pecan Growers Association please get it together and if I can help in anyway please ask. Thanks, John Pape

2006 is here, and now I have seen the Pecan Festival in Seguin Texas advertised at least two times for April 7-8, 2006. I am constructing a new website www.nutbiz.com and I could use anyones input and help to promote pecans and please post your message to keep our pecan blog going. Thank you, John

The Seguin Texas Guadalupe County Pecan Festival was held for one day only and not planed along with other activities as in the past. Vendors and people attending missed out on the chilli cookoff and judging the chilli and then the bikes riders were just lost without all the events planed together. There was not a drink vendor and everyone just missed out on lot of stuff. The market day vendors were not to happy because there were vendors from the pecan festival were they set up selling there fruit and vegetables. Hopefully next year it will be more organized or some people mentioned they may not attend. Personally I had fun, sold what I brought but please? The chamber and people organizing the event lets move everything back together at the county property or maybe the city park. Sincerely, John Pape

Here in South Central Texas it's about time to start Pecan Harvesting. It never fails about the time you need to start pecan picking here comes bad weather. Down south pecan harvest has been well on the way with the nuts going to market. The story I here native pecans are going to bring over a dollar a pound because of the shortage everywhere but if they stay that high I might be a mokey's uncle. Here on the Pecan Blog is a picture of Savage Equipment's new Portable Eleavator model 1518. I am not showing the super sack attachment but thats what complements this machine. I have one in stock and hopefully some precleaners coming. If interested and need help with your equipment or pecan harvest call me. 888-688-7273 John Pape Equipment Link

Well into September and pecans have started to be harvested. In the Pecan Blog news the sad story I hear is Georgia's crop was damaged from the hurricane and another one on its way there. Lets all pray for them. Maybe this year the shellers will need all they can get into the cold storage and price will be good. Here on the Pecan Blog is a Meyers Jr. Sheller for someone that would want a could deal. The price is right at $2,400.00 for the pecan sheller. Other news at the pecan blog is that Pape Pecan Company is opening there store on the internet to buy pecans. There is a lot of competion out here but customers keep asking to be able to buy pecans over the internet. The flip side to this idea is not only to sell pecans we want to buy pecans also. So before you market your pecan crop go to our website www.papepecan.com and get the toll free number and call to find out how much your pecans are worth. One subject I would like to cover or would love to have someones help with us is pecan grades. To post the quality of different grades to identify the pecan. More news is that Guadalupe Pecan Growers are having there meeting on Sept. 22nd at the old Agriculture building at 2:00 pm. Hope we see everyone and it always good to meet new pecan growers or anyone interested in pecan culture. Lend a hand and post your views, news or message to the blog.
Pecan Equipment is really moving fast and the pecan season is near. The pecan price is going to be high so every pound harvested will be worth while. In stock at our store Pape Pecan House we have the new Savage pecan harvesters on display as well as pecan cleaners, pecan rakes, pecan shakers and other new and used pecan tree equipment. I make note to the equipment moving fast because of availabilty. You will see it on Pape Pecan Co. web site one day and the next its SOLD I mark the pecan equipment sold as soon as I can but it's better to call first. The number is toll free: 888-688-7273. Recently we brought in used FMC tree shakers for sale and there is also a good used FMC catch frame for planted pecan orchards for sale. Also in stock are used Lockwood pecan harvester, Nut Hustler pecan harvester, and pecan cleaning equipment. Post your message to the Pecan Blog! John Pape

Into July with pecan season coming! Do you have your equipment ready for the new harvest? Now is the time to start fixing or if you plan to buy, now is the time. You might ask why now? A couple of good reasons is not to wait until the last day when you need to harvest, and the harvester hasn't even been hooked to the tractor yet this year. Or if you take your shaker or whatever machine needs work on to the repair shop the mechanics have half a dozen jobs in front. So many times this has happened to all of us. Now if you plan to buy a good used machine or maybe even a new one buy it early, now, not in September or October, you stand a chance to lose your crop if the machine is not ready, and for the best reason you can save money. The dealers will sell at least 10% less before the season starts and afterwards it's supply and demand which brings the equipment sales top dollar. Metal price went up into this year 2004 so I can be safe to say we will all pay more for equipment and parts, about 6 to 7% because of cost of material and manufacturing. You can sell or buy equipment here or if you have questions or news and views, Post your message on the blog! John Pape
