Feeling Sad
Sad Goodbye to 05 Season
It was with sadness last night that I watched Tice decide not to go for it on 4th down with 8 minutes to go in the game. Baltimore was on a roll--and by not going for it we were just handing them the ball for another score--which is exactly what happened. That point I knew that the Vikings were destined - again - for another loss and the end of our season. In years past I was very angry at these moments. Now--after all the years as a frustrated fan I am just sad, and weary of the choking and the losses. Sure we won some this year, but not enough. Why could we not score for most of our games? Why did our defense look brilliant at times yet lay over and play dead just as many times? Why, why, why is what I always wonder at then end of every year. I do think Tice needs to be replaced. The team needs to get back to a form of excellence and if we keep our coach I do not see that happening. He will win some games--maybe have a winning record--but never enough to really be good. I am glad we have our new owner--and hope that we keep Brad Johnson and Sharper. The fact that Daunte has been rehabbing in Florida--instead of with his team is also very dissappointing for me. Daunte could use a good mentor---and Brad could have been just that for him. Daunte should also be the team leader.Instead he gets paid zillions of dollars to just go off to Florida? I used to be a huge Daunte fan---but he has lost some of that support now. I still think he is a stand up guy , but maybe we need to replace him at QB now too next year. Let's start with a fresh, fresh team with lots of new faces next year. The last game against the Bears next week--the game which should have had a lot of meaning --now means nothing.

Feeling Surprised
Any Team Can Win On Any Given Sunday...
and today's game was proof of that. On paper--we should not have won. Our offense could not get going, our offensive line seemed non existant for much of the game, and we missed two field goals. But...today we had nice surprises from special teams, Sharper (thank you Green Bay for giving him to us!), and our defense. Seeing Sharper get a hat trick today was beautiful. Just beautiful. I kept screaming and thanking God when we got our many turnovers today. And thank you Edinger for yet another game winning field goal! The missed ones are forgiven since you came through in the end. I am still concerned about our offense sputtering, and that offensive line. Next week against GB will be telling--and guess what? My family will be there in a box watching the game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling Surprised
Let's Hope This Is An Upward Trend Now--Not a Rollercoaster
We won!! I should not be surprised that Brad Johnson did well. He is a proven, experienced QB. But I am surprised. With this season full of jinxes for the team--I was expecting the worst. I was surprised to see Bennett do well also. Two very nice surprises. The defense did better with the 4-3 change up--I hope that will work against better teams too. At the rate we were scoring the first half this should have been a 48 - 14 blowout,,,,,,but I am very happy with a win here. We have to savor them when we get them.

Feeling Frustrated
The Misery Continues...
We had a great week last week. A great week. Deep inside we all hoped this was a turning point for this miserable team. Deep inside we also knew it probably was not a turning point--just a lucky day for us. Sadly the latter is true. Daunte is hurt----the defense didn't show up--the litany of problems continued. How much longer will the new owner keep Tice? they are not paying him much compared to all the other coaches in the league--so they really could afford to keep paying his contract and let him go. We need a real fresh start here. I hope Brad Johnson will get back to better form this week when he can practice more. One word can describe this season in general---painful.

Feeling Ecstatic
Finally, Miracles Do Happen!
What a shock this victory was today...what a shock. Immediately after the game Daunte was on his knee thanking God. So was I. I cannot remember the last time I saw our team rally from behind like that in the second half. I really cannot remember. Daunte was looking like the Daunte of old---confident, throwing deep, running. The Daunte we haven't seen much of this year. Then that kick that Edinger made--wow! Who would have seen that coming? Brad Johnson saved the kick by recovering the hold----wow. This team actually looked like a real team this second half. I would love to know what made the difference for them in the locker room--they were so apathetic the first half. Thank you God--thank you! Let's hope this is the beginning of a new season for this team. My family is flying to Green Bay in November to see their next match up----that should be awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling Frustrated
Fire Tice and several others--time for a clean slate
Ok --this is the lowest of the all the low points the Vikings have had. This is the most undiciplined team in football right now. That is why I say fire Tice. I have been supportive of him up to now--but he has shown that he is totally ineffective as a coach. Tice needs to go. We then need a new OC and a new DC. The fact is we should have the talent now to have a decent defense. Yet the stats prove otherwise. We have no offensive line, which contributes to the fact that the offense cannot score. When we are at the point that Daunte is either going to get sacked or throw an interception 20% of the time--that is a desperate point. Remember this is the same QB that was an offensive star is the whole league! Watching a game is pure misery as a fan now--pure misery. And to be honest--Tice doesn't look that bothered! I have seen him more upset for bad ref calls than he has been watching a team loaded with talent collapse on their faces. Next week we play the Packers--the team that has Favre and knows how to come back from adversity. We don't have a chance in hell next week--even playing at home. I wish I could win the lottery, and then buy the Vikings. The first thing I would do is fire all the coaches and all the players who were stupid enough to go on their infamous "cruise". If Daunte was there--as he may have been--he goes too! Time to start over --gees what does it take to figure that out??????????????????????????

Feeling Worried
We won--but it was a sloppy win
Ok--we won today. That alone is a big sigh of relief. But let's be honest and look at how we won. We won at home against a team who is homeless and road weary. We won by playing well the first half and then squeaking by the second half. The Saints were coming back in the second half--I was saying "Here we go again....." as we were giving up points to them and only scoring field goals ourselves. Can we play a complete game well? That means first and second half? It was good to see Daunte be able to throw a touchdown again. But some of our defense is hurt and it seems we don;t have much depth there.......We still have a long way to go before we can beat a good team--much less make it to the playoffs. Come on guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feeling Frustrated
The First Game Was Played In The Twight Zone
"When things could go bad, it went bad," Culpepper said. "It was almost like a bad episode of 'The Twilight Zone."'
Whether it was the play calling with new offensive coordinator Steve Loney, the nonexistent running game (16 carries for 26 yards) or steady pressure on Culpepper, the Vikings looked as lousy on offense as they had in some time.
------------------------
The above was taken driectly from the write up of today's game. Well spoken. Wiggins two touchdowns negated---The Twilight Zone. Daunte fumbling and throwing interceptions like a rookie--The Twilight Zone. The team waiting until the fourth quarter to replace an ineffective RG---The Twilight Zone. (And very stupid!). This new offensive co-ordinator--The Twilight Zone. How do you take a well rounded offense and make them look totally inept? The Twilight Zone.A vastly improved defense that still gives up 24 points and make Griese look like a good QB--The Twilight Zone.
As a fan--that same old sinking feeling came when we were down at half time. It is rare for us to win if we are behind at the half. (Sorry but true.) That sinking feeling only went away at the very end of the game when we truly had a shot. Only to see Daunte throw his last interecption with a minute left. The sinking feeling became frustration---that "here we go again" kind.
The only up side is this---they have to improve. They have to. And maybe losing the first game means we win most of the rest (versus our history of winning the first half of the season and choking the second half.) I don't know--I am trying to find an upside......Greta

Feeling Ecstatic
Agreeing with a fellow fan
This post is actually from a fellow Vikings fan. I want to post it here because I got so much flack before for being glad "the distraction" on our team is gone. Last night during the Patriots game I listened to Madden talk about how he didn't think we could do well without Moss. One person does not make a team. The Patriots, The Ice Bowl Packers and other great dynasties have proven that. Defense and attitude make winners. The Raiders will not win, or even get to a SB, just because they now have our former distraction. We do have a real shot of getting to the SB, and winning--just as we are! Here is the post:
I just got through watching the Faders-Patriots game and it reminded me of the 7 yrs Randy Moss was with the Vikings.Randy's stats as follows,( 5 rec for 130 yds, 1 big play for a TD,1 crucial dropped pass and 1 penalty.Randy Moss is going to put up good numbers with the faders, but he will also put out stupid penalties, drop a few balls, and give half hearted efforts when he feels like it.It wasn't Randy's fault that the Vikings never reached the Super Bowl in the 7 yrs he was with the team, and it won't be his fault when the faders fail to reach the Super Bowl while he is there either.Defense wins championships and the vikings used their second 1st round pick on a defensive lineman and their 1st on a replacement for Moss. The Vikings also got a starting linebacker for Moss that was much needded, plus a late round pick in 2006.I won't mention Moss again in any of my messages.I wish him all the best, he still has it, but I am glad he's gone and I am glad about what the Vikings got for trading him.Collins is no Culpepper and Moss will soon realize that he will NEVER win a ring with him.Daunte WILL win a ring however without Moss

Feeling Happy
Hearing Music? I am watching the Pats and Raiders!
The season is finally here!
That long drought between the too short fb seasons is over! Finally! I loved tonight's opening acts to the Pats-Raiders game--it really felt like football is here after that great show.
Now to this season. I do not want the Vikings to be picked to win anything more than the division. Whenever this has happened in the past---we have been jinxed. The more we are praised--the bigger the locker room heads get--and the freefall we have the last half of the season begins. I would love to see us quietly win, and stay under the radar. No media hogging interviews. We need to have a very focused, team oriented mentality. No more stupid comments or actions by players or our coach--let's just get to business. We need to follow the Patriots example--they are a real class act.
Technically there is no reason we should not have the best season in decades---literally. Daunte is seasoned, and really in charge now that distractions are gone. We have several great WR, several great RB, and let us not forget that versatile man---Kleinsasser. And for the first time in a very long time we should have a very good defense. What a joy that will be to see---real corners. Real LB. This should be a sight to behold!
If we do not have a great season---it will be due to mental meltdowns. Tice has got to really lead this year-that is all his responsiblity. Focus, focus, focus. The guys need that word tattooed on their brains. <g> Tampa Bay--Sunday---finally football for Vikings fans really begins!!!!!!!!!!!!!
