and I call myself a massage therapist?
So, as you all know, I have my license for massage and I started to work at a local salon. My work there needs tweaking...I love the owner, I love the people I work with, I love the people I work on....but I am really not working.
I am just starting out and do not have a following....Two weeks ago, I had 2 massages ( one was for 30 minutes, the other was too but then when I had 5 minutes left in the massage client decided to bump up to 60 minutes)....last week nothing...this week nothing.
Today, I have a meeting with the owner....I have a few concerns....
1. I do not have any business cards for the salon...so when people ask me for one, I cannot give it.
2. the salon is on a busy road and there is nothing to indicate there is a massage therapist working there....the sign just says HAIR....
3. I feel that in order to get the people in to the salon, we need to be running some promotions....and if need be, I will eat the cost of the promotion so that the owner doesn't have to worry about losing money. If we can't get the people in, we can't make money....
4. I am not sure the receptionist is asking the few clients I have worked on if they want to schedule another massage....
5. I need to call the clients after the massage and see how they are doing.
6. We need to advertise and I have absolutley no money at all for that! I need to find cheap ways to get the word out there that I am here!!!
I need work!!!

We'll work on your free ad over at the Littlespot. Also, do you need your own cards, or the cards printed by the salon?

I hope work picks up for you...
If we lived in the same town I would be glad
to be a client and get a massage...I would be in heaven!
I stay tense it seems..ugh!

Yes definitely make your own sign and put it up in the window. :-)

A few thoughts for your consideration. 1) Email everyone you know and give them discount rates on your services. 2) Start an email list of your clients (and your bosses clients) to alert them to "future specials and sales". Make your own sign and put it in the window. 4) Call a few card companies and get prices. A lot of places sell cards cheaply. You could possibly even barter the price of the cards in exchange for a massage (pick an old person).
Good luck !
