Feeling Quiet
Hearing Josh Groban

Loyalty to the People, not to the Party

Julian Carroll complained that Lt. Governor Steve Pence should step down because he was disloyal to Governor Fletcher.  He seems to forget that as the second in command in the Commonwealth his loyalty is to the people of Kentucky, not to the Governor or to the political party for which he stands.

Governor Fletcher came into office claiming he was going to clean up the corruption that had tainted the office.  Instead he just brought in his own corruption and saw fit to pardon his administration for their crimes.

Steve Pence stood up and said what the voters know; that Governor Fletcher is a liability to both the citizens of this Commonwealth as well as his party.  He spoke the truth even though the truth wasn't pleasant and was likely to cause him flack.  He did it not because it was the easy thing to do, but because it was the right thing to do.

Julian Carroll asked him to show some character.  Thing is, Steve Pence already had.  It's just sad that Julian Carroll no longer seems to be able to recognize it.
