Feeling Silly

Marcos graduates from Pre-school

My daycare boy Marcos graduated from pre-school a couple of weeks ago. He attended St.Catherine's school and the graduation ceremony took place in the lower church. All three classes were doing the same. Each class took their turn getting up in front and singing a song they had learned for this special occasion. They all received a little diploma which was so adorable. We were allowed to take pictures in front of the statues and near the altar as well. As you can see the boys got a little shall we say, silly and just being boys, lol and when I went to take one of the photos they each decided to make a funny face. At first I was going to scold them but didn't have the heart and thought to myself, God would not mind them having a little fun even if it was in church. His teacher caught it and chuckled a little her self too. Marcos Mom and grandfather were there as we all were. My granddaughter Caitlin is also friends with Marcos sister and they were there for the occasion as well. The other little boy is a my friends grandson and I had taken him with me as I was watching him for her. When it was over we took both boys out for brunch and then back to my house.

P.S. the captions under these pics have nothing to do with them.  I had inadvertently downloaded them with other pics I had and never got around to changing the title. sorry bout that!

Feeling Excited

Vacation at Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Our vacation this year was spent at the Crest Motel in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I got up early right before sunrise to take a walk on the beach at low tide and tried to capture the sun rising from every angle it seems. The pier and their wooden pilings really got me excited when I saw them. I just couldn't stop taking pics of them as you can see, lol I did go over board with this but it felt so good walking and clicking. I now can see that I have alot to learn about different settings but for now I'm just happy using my new camera. The mirror images I think were provided from the sun shining down.Being on the beach with hardly no people on it was a peaceful and quiet experience although I did see more than a few people walking it along with a few other shutter bugs like myself as well. During the day I took pics of all the people enjoying themselves on the beach too while still trying to think about settings and I can see I still have alot to learn.lol I always seem to get back to those wooden pilings and now with the tide in I wanted to get the water rushing in beneath them. I got a good pic of my daughter Kelley and her boyfriend Mike on the beach too but should have gotten them a little closer in my frame. Another fopar with my settings. Guess I'll just have to keep practicing on that. Mike,Kelley and Mike's son were horsing around in the pool and so here I am again trying to get them.My hubby Kev stood still he said one time only for a quick one of him standing near the pool. On the fourth we went down on the beach to watch the fireworks and although I couldn't compare them to Boston's version, they were fun. I also tried some night photos again with different settings but I don't think I caught what I wanted to in them. The amount of people there was incredible. There was literally standing room only on most nights on the boardwalk too.We ate, drank and were all very happy campers and sad to go home but once home, were glad to be here too. Alls well that ends well as they say.

Feeling Grateful

VACATION

Well today we're packing for our yearly Fourth of July trip to Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I sure can use a few days at the ocean and away from day care kids, lol love them to pieces but need some time away from them. Our dog coty bear can't come this time as no dogs allowed in the motel we have this year. We waited to long to get a doggy room but he will be well cared for by one of my daycare mothers who will be staying here while we're away. He will get his air conditioning, food, water and walking and lots of love while we're gone. He's 14 years young now and seems to like being in the A/C more than outside now. Can't say I blame him at all! lol

Today I had to replace my 4 year old Modem as it just plain stopped working this morning. This wasn't something I wanted to mess with seeing I had packing on my mind but I didn't want to leave my house sitter without use of one here. I choose to purchase one rather than renting off my carrier, RCN. They charge I think like $5.00 per month and I purchased mine for $79 and a $20 rebate and when I calculate the cost of what I save over a 4 year period, I am very happy about that. RCN gets enough of my money, lol  and I installed it myself and all systems are go again.

I will be trying out my new Cannon digital camera this year there too. I can't wait to see how I do with it. Greg from Photo Trek and his tutorials that I print out, lol, are coming along for some much needed help in deciding what settings I should or should not use. I must remember to bring my tripod too as this is a must according to Greg for landscape shots. We shall see, lol , If nothing else I'll be having fun experimenting with everything.

Well, its time to get packin and start stackin!!

Later gators!!

AOL- photo- "Water"

This was taken last year when we were at Old Orchard Beach in Maine for a vacation. One of many I took under the board walk. I just loved those old wooden pilings and will now go back this year with my new cannon DLSR camera to see what I can do again with these old pilings

Feeling Happy

The Memorial Day Parade in our city

Sunday we walked up to Highland Ave with our chairs and found our nitches and waited patiently for the Memorial Day Parade to begin. Again with my wide angle lens, I started clicking away. No clarity at all in these pictures and I'm disappointed in the way they came out but for the sake of the holiday, I'm happy to have the day marked and all who participated respected as they all should be on this day!! Each and every group walked proud straight and tall in what ever it was they were doing. The flags were waving, the batons being flown in the air, the music coming from the floating bands as they drove slowly by was all so encompasing to all who were watching. The different drill each marching group did were wonderful and each different in their own special way. Sports groups with parents and children waved their hands as they passed by everyone and some were throwing candy out of baskets as they walked by for the children on the side lines. From the music wagons, came beaded necklaces to those who were in eye contact with anyone on the wagon and smiles were met when they caught one in the air. The Military groups of all wars were sincere, never wavering in their walk or manner and gave the uniforms they were wearing all the respect they deserved in unison marching forward with all the rhythm that was in each and every one of those men and women. My husband who is also a Viet-nam Vet stood and saluted each and every one of them as they passed along with most of the men in the area of where we were. It lasted for over two hours and when it was done, everyone standing around seemed a little dissapointed that it was over but felt good knowing that our military was honored that day and had made all feel good about that. I was proud of my city that day for having such enthusiam to put this together for us and our military never to be forgotten.

Feeling Silly

One street,One Park in my city of Somerville, MA

Again, this past Saturday I decided to take my wide angle lens out with me into my city that I live. Not having the time to go anywhere I thought of a place in my city that I thought would give me that country feel and escape from the city. I went to a place known as "Powderhouse Park" located near Davis Square in Somerville. Although surrounded by a hustle and bustle Boston type city, in itself there is peace and tranquility to be had. I parked my SUV and walked up and just started thinking and looking and shooting to what I thought were some good sights to take pictures of. After the first few, lol, I got the feeling and probably a bit of a fantasy that I was on this shoot for a movie and taking pictures for location purposes, lol !! Hey, might as well have some fun too! lol  Any way the more I walked around the more angles I saw but didn't pay to much attention to the brightness and the weather was good but not sunny and once under the trees, I probably should have changed a setting but didn't know how and at that point I was just into shooting and not much else. lol The two pictures of the buildings were across the street from this park and I saw the clouds and thought I would take that as well. One picture here has one person other than myself in it. I happened on a man with a jacket over his face under a tree having  a snooze and first thought,is he ok, and so I looked for the movement in his chest area and when I saw him move , moved to leave him be. lol Well lots to be learned but I know I will have fun doing it along the way!

Kiddies at Conway Park again

Well since I've gotten my new Cannon Rebel XTI camera and three new lens to go with them, I've been using the wide angle lens and playing around with it. Mind you I'm so a novice here and as I look at the newly downloaded pics, here in these last few entries, I can see I need some lessons, lol! Everything on the camera is so new and so many decisions to make before taking the shot that I got so confused, lol.I'm looking into a photo course in the fall at our local high school at night. I also found a DVD I will purchase on the ritz camera site that will show me exactly what everything on the camera is for and where and how to get it,lol ! Right now its being treated like my other point and shoot, lol Back to school I go! I'll probably need to bring plenty of apples for this teacher!! lol

The kids said I was driving them crazy making them pose for me in all kinds of positions, lol, and I said you guys and girls are my models!! lol After pushing them as far as I could, I let them off the hook and run and play.

Belated Mother's Day Photos

Mother's Day here was wonderful!! My mom who has been sick and does not like to go out to restaraunts much anymore wants nothing other than all kinds of sea food. Sooooo that is exactly what she got along with the rest of us. I cooked all the favorites like Baked Lobster Tails,Baked Scallops, Scallops wrapped in Bacon, Shrimp Scampi, shrimp steamed for shrimp cocktail and Baked stuffed Haddock. Also there were the family members (hubby) who requested Veal saltimboca with eggplant parm and pasta with meatballs. Yes, I did do alot of cooking and on Mother's Day,lol!! I do love cooking and when my family is all together it makes me happy. The day started with Caitlin my granddaughter giving her Mother (my daughter) her surprising gift basket of all her favorite personal womanly things. She loved everything as you can see, lol. Next was my turn and I was really surprised and I got a basket full of cooking utensils, lol, and Ioved and wore them very nicely, lol. Yes thats me stuffing some of the them into my clothes. lol Last but not least was Catilin's great grandmother, (my mother) with a beautiful balloon and pink roses and said to her, did you think I could foget you? lol Well Mom cried happy tears and then I told them they must get out of my kitchen so I could finish my dinner, lol As you can see this was a womanfest and not a man was seen in any of the pics as all the men were down in the basement admiring the new and improved tool room my husband has been working on down there for the past month or more.lol Tim the tool man was very proud of his accomplishment with every single tool marked and in their places now. lol

Sorry no pics of the dinner or the table as the cook (thats me) was to busy, lol and to pooped by the time everything was done.

Suffice to say it was a great day had by all, especially my MOM!!

Feeling Silly

test subject here

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm285/Nancymdidit/HarvardSquarebuildingsandsquirre-17.jpg

Ok, thanks to Julie of "My photo journey" I created an acct. with photobucket today. It went from asking her how she edited a picture of hers to my downloading a picture of mine and playing with all the features they have there. I don't think the picture I chose was of any signifigance but more of just picking anything to get into the program and then playing around with all they have to choose from there. My only question now is--- Is the actual picture suppose to be showing or is this "link" suppose to be here to show the way to the edited picture? I'm so new at this stuff and want to learn but need a little help from my friends if they don't mind, hehehehe! This particular edit is of the category of "
cartoon" and I guess it just struck me and I went ahead and applied it to my picture. In the future I will think more about the kind of picture I have and more about what I want to do with it. In any case, it was so much fun and think I found a new toy. I also just bought myself a cannon digital xti camera kit. It came with a lens and I bought one and with the help from Greg I will be buying more. lol Can't wait to start using both and see what I can come up with. I guess you can also download videos on here to. wow, now that looks like fun too. But I must take baby steps first, lol, and learn new things before I can run as they say. lol Any critisism would be helpful and appreciated.

Thanks friends
