The death toll for the Christmas Tsunami is now over 140,000! Amazon.com has now collected almost $13 million, all of which goes to the American Red Cross for Tsumani relief. Others are donating at World Vision On-Line.
140,000 souls dead in one day is a horrible happening, yet consider the other deaths in 2004, estimated by the Red Cross. The number of human beings who died of HIV - AIDS in southern Africa was about two million. The number of people world-wide who died from drinking contaminated water, or from the effects of inadequate sanitation was more than two million. How many were aware of those figures?
Here are nine BBC pictures of the ruins from satellite: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_pictures/4142425.stm (158)
