Hearing Never Knew Love -- Stephanie Mills

As you can see, I still haven't got around to calling AOL...I guess I'm just trying to put it off as long as I can.  I hate calling places to tell them you have no job, no money, etc.  I've been getting the warnings from AOL, but I'm just bypassing them.  I know it's just a matter of time before they shut it off...I don't want them to.  I know if they do, I'll lose my journals...and I don't want that to happen. 

I've been writing in my other journal as of recently...that way I can update on what's going on, as well as writing about the same stuff I do here.  I also see that people actually read my journal--that kind of came as a shock.  I know some people are getting the alerts for it...you know who you are...=D  You can get an alert for it--all you have to do is ask.  I can still link it to other journals, since I still have a AIM screen name...good thing I kept it.

Don't worry...I will be back.  I like the features in AOL J-Land.  That and the community.

Hearing the voices in my head!

Well, I finally got my drug screening done...Nicky took me up earlier this afternoon, after I got Alexis from school.  I know that went okay...now I have another hurdle to jump!  Not too long after I got home, the phone rang.  It was some company working for Verizon.  They were verifying information I provided on my application, and they were having some trouble with one of my past employers.  Dana, the woman on the phone, told me that Domino's couldn't verify all the info, just the fact that I was a driver and my start date.  When Dana asked if they had records for me on file, they said they had them in an off-site location.  So Dana asked me to call, thinking I would get something...even a verbal verification.  When I called, I got the same thing she got.  So I called Dana back with what I got, and since I got nowhere, I asked her if a verbal verification was ok.  She said yup, all I have to do is have the owner call her, or give her his number.  OKAY!  Cool!  Unfortunately, by the time I got off the phone with her, the Domino's office closed, so now I have to wait until tomorrow to call.  I know I'm rambling, but I had to get this off my chest.  I feel better now.

Hearing Wherever You Will Go -- The Calling

Figures....I have a chance to get a good job, and I get screwed!!!  The thing is, I got the job at Verizon, but there's a catch.  I have to go and get a drug screening...and I have no way of getting there!  The car is sitting in front of the house with a flat tire and expired inspection sticker.  I mean, I can drive it around town because we know the cops.  But where I have to go for the test is out of the city limits...and the police there are really strict.  So I'm not going to take the risk of getting pulled over.

My landlord went to the hospital for carpal tunnel surgery this morning, so asking him for a ride is out of the question.  I asked my friend, but she's busy with her daughter...she's not feeling too good.  My last ditch effort is asking my brother-in-law, but the last thing I want is something else he thinks he can hold over my head when he needs something.  I dunno what else to do.

And to think, I'm not the only one in this boat...Joey's having a similar problem.  His new job is not within walking distance, and with the car acting up, it's just not looking good.  Wish us luck...we're gonna need as much as we can get.

Hearing Eternal Flame -- The Bangles

Within the next week, I'm going to suspend my AOL service...because right now I can't pay for it, since I don't have a job.  It's only temporary, and I don't want to lose my account.  I hate changing screen names.  Don't worry...I do have a back-up plan to keep you updated!!  I've had time to think about this, so I know what I'm doing.  Here's the link for it...HERE.  If you want, either leave a comment here, or on the other journal with your e-mail, and I'll add you to my list, and it'll send you an alert for new entries...just like AOL does!  I'll let you know when for sure....when I decide to call AOL...sometime this week.

Hearing Hungry Eyes -- Eric Carmen

Here's my answers to this week's questions:

1. You know company is coming:  do you panic and immediately begin cleaning house or do you sit back and relax because your place is already clean?

Panic!  That actually happened about a week ago...people were coming to look at our house, and we cleaned.  It took us the better part of three days to get it up to par...usually it's not that bad.  For those of you who don't usually read my journal, our landlord is selling the house we live in.

2. Which was a bigger surprise for you:  
a) Robert Blake was acquitted
b) Martha Stewart did jail time
c) Scott Peterson was sentenced to death
d) The Michael Jackson trial began at all

I would have to say "d", since the last time this happened, they settled out of court.

3. What was in the last package you received in the mail?

That would have to be the Goldberg action figure we bought online for our son, Joey.  We had to get it that way--no one around here had it, and that was the number one thing he asked Santa to bring.  We got it on Christmas Eve, 2003.

4. What commercial annoys you the most at the moment?

Oh wow...there's sooooo many!  I would have to say the Safe Auto spots.  Also, the ones about Blind Justice on ABC...they just never stop playing them!  Especially when NYPD Blue had their final episode--they just had to make sure you knew what was going to be in that time slot after Blue was finished.  To tell you the truth, I don't watch it...I change the channel and watch SVU--I haven't seen it, so the reruns are new to me.

5. What charity was the last one to call you to solicit a donation?  Did you give them money?  Why or why not?

The Fraternal Order of Police.  No, because at the time, we didn't have it to give.

6. What common household product do you hate to run out of the most?

Toilet paper!  I shouldn't have to tell you why.

Hearing Just A Girl -- No Doubt

Like I wrote last week, we went to New York City to see a show.  I hadn't been there in about 10 years, so I was definitely looking forward to this.  We left here about 4pm, and of course hit traffic when we got to the Lincoln Tunnel...that sucked.  We finally got into Manhattan around 7:45.  The show started at 8:00, so we had to hurry to get to the show.  Actually, we saw a preview of the show...it opens March 24th.  It was really good--I would recommend seeing it. 

After the show, we walked around for a little while, took some pictures, then we went into Toys R Us.  That place is huge.  Unfortunately, we got there as they were closing for the night.  Wow, for a city that never sleeps, it closes up shop pretty early--for a Friday night.  We were in there long enough to get some pictures, as you can see.  After that, we decided to get something to eat before heading home.  We ended up going to Planet Hollywood, since the place we were originally going to was too crowded.  The food was awesome, and the memoribilia was cool too.

Joey wanted to see the WTC site, so we drove down there...I'm glad I don't live there--I wouldn't be able to drive!  I was getting nervous...and I wasn't the one behind the wheel.  When we got down to site, you couldn't really see anything--it's all blocked off.  I got one pic, but it's not that good, especially since it was dark.  Oh well...one of these days, we're going to go during the day.

We didn't get home until 4am.  I slept most of the way home, since I had a headache from taking it all in...I don't think my brain could take any more stimulation.  I can't wait to do it again!

Hearing Rosanna -- Toto

This is cool...Alexis got an honorable mention certificate and ribbon for her entry in the PTA Reflections contest at school tonight.  The theme was "A Different Kind Of Hero".  Actually, I didn't even know she entered.  She drew it while she was in school, she didn't even tell us about it.  We had no clue...that is, until there was a note sent home by the PTA.  So, of course we went to the meeting and saw everyone's work...that's what is behind her in the pic--the work from everyone in her class who participated.  After the ceremony, we went home...the actual PTA meeting looked boring, and I think everyone else thought the same thing. 

Below is the certificate, ribbon, and entry.  When I first saw it, I almost cried...her hero was ME!  I'm SuperMom!  I fight off bad guys and make them go SPLAT (she forgot the "l").  Cool.
