Winter Weather

From: GetBkJoJo of Afton, Okla.

In the Photographer's Words: Grand Lake, Okla., taken Jan. 16. The resort area of Grand Lake, known as Woodland Shores, was hit hard by ice. Residents went without electricity for 4+ days.

From: Jdmacri

In the Photographer's Words: This is Alki Beach in Seattle, where we seldom see snow. The  young girl in the photo made these snow people. The tall one is the "daddy" and has seaweed for a hat.

From: MOCHOCLAT of Everett, Wash.

In the Photographer's Words: This was taken in my backyard on Jan. 3 after another storm ripped through the Pacific Northwest. This tree was rocked right out of the earth and onto our house. Fortunately, there was no major damage.

The uprooted tree makes me quiver in my books.  These guys were lucky as I have seen what a direct hit on a house can do.  I live in Florida - Hurricane season - Trees can quite literally "slice" through a house down to it's foundation.
