You're Invited! Please Join Us!
HI, Everyone!
The next LONA meeting will be held on Monday, September 10th, at the Lyell Branch Library (956 Lyell Avenue). You are encouraged to attend!
The meeting will begin at 6pm (instead of 7), as we will meet for an hour with Deputy Chief of Police Sheppard, to go over security camera info, as well as discuss ideas that were brainstormed at the last LONA special topic emergency meeting regarding the prostitution problems in our area.
Please plan to attend, as we need your input and value your ideas!
Also, please let the LONA President, Mike Visconte, (B380@aol.com) know if you'd like to be the Kids' Story Teller for this meeting, as we currently don't have any child care, and we understand how this can impede one's ability to attend our meetings. We are hoping that we can find a caring resident to volunteer to do this, so more folks can become involved.
Also, check out www.lyell-otis.com for a link to our LONA website and more information.
See you Monday night at 6pm!!!!

National Night Out Against Crime - Sector 3 Style!
Sector 3, of which LONA is a member (and the Cameron Street Block Club is in partnership under LONA), will be holding it's National Night Out Against Crime event TONIGHT, Monday, August 6th - ALL ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!
We meet at 5PM at Edison High School on Colfax Street to prepare for the neighborhood car parade.
We will reconvene at Edgerton Community Recreation Center around 6PM, and enjoy some light refreshments, nice conversations, as well as face painting for the kids!
It's sure to be a fun time! We hope you will choose to participate!
Tuesday, August 7th is the Official National Night Out Against Crime, and we ask for you to participate by leaving your front/porch light on. This is a great evening to meet your neighbors, and to let the "bad" element in the area know that they are not welcome here, as we are a nice little bedroom community that does not tolerate illegal activities in our area! (So there! Ptthhww! LOL)

Survey Update
Hi, Everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
20 surveys and meeting invitations have been returned to me as "undeliverable as addressed", since the home owners do not live on our wonderful street. (I had originally gathered the names and addresses by using the Haines 2006 Criss-Cross Directory.)
I just sent them back out last week, this time, using the city's tax rolls to get more accurate addresses. I was surprised to find that I was sending mail as far as Louisville, Kentucky! Has this person even stepped foot onto his property? Does he care who is living in his building, and how their actions might be bringing the quality of life down for those of us who actually live on this beautiful street?
I re-sent many pieces of mail to Penfield, Pittsford, Brighton, Holley, Gates, Greece, Kendall, and Chili. I also noted that other properties were owned by people in Irondequoit, and in Elmhurst, Illinois! (I haven't received those original pieces of mail back yet, but I have a feeling that I will.)
It was funny to see that some of the owners of Cameron Street property live on some streets (like Little Acorn Circle and Beckwith Terrace) that I have looked at when visiting available real estate in the Monroe County area. (I am especially partial to the eastside suburbs - the "P's" like Pittsford, Penfield and Perinton, as I have a 2 year old daughter and am looking into the school districts and comparing their state test scores.)
I have only received one completed survey since my original mailing of early October. I am very disappointed in this response rate, and wonder what my next step should be, in order to entice more neighbor involvement in our beautification and renewal activities.
Please, let me know what I need to do, as an artist/mommy, that can bring everyone together to make our street better, and eventually, turn our whole neighborhood around!
I welcome positive comments, and even negative ones, as I really don't know what I am doing wrong! I am a novice, and can benefit from learning from other's experiences.
I envision the type of street where new neighbors are welcomed to the neighborhood with gift baskets and handshakes, and people help others whenever they can. If this is the type of street you believe Cameron Street can be, please help me to realize this vision!
I look forward to hearing from you all!!!!
Peace, Pam
