~ Got Him ~

Jay has been in the woods behind my yard forever. I hear him all the time. The noise they make is distinct. I know he's been in my yard, but rarely did I see him. If I did he was gone before I could grab my camera. Since the feeder has been out I'd seen him more often. He would come for a quick bite, and off he'd go again. I would think to myself this isn't fast food, nor is it a drive thru! He didn't care. I've caught part of him as he flew away, or he'd turn so all I had was his back end and not even a good shot of that!
Today I went out to do errands. As I was out the temps started to drop, the sun disappeared, and the wind picked up. It wasn't long before the rain blew in. You could smell it coming. I could hear the thunder and off in the distance I'd see lightening. I hurried with my running so I could get home. All my windows were open and the rain was coming down almost sideways. GRRRR The rain will help get the greens to come out, but I had hoped I would be home before hit. It didn't last long, just enough to get my kitchen floor wet.
As I mopped up the puddle, I heard the cries. When I looked out the window, there was Jay and his friends. In the tree, on the feeder, and on the ground below the feeder. I'm not sure if they were pushing it over the ledge or if the wind tilted the feeder enough to spill some, but there was seed in the grass. Didn't matter. I went and got my camera and headed to the window. I peeked out and got all ready to shoot when a big black bird came in. Swwwwwwwwwoooosh. Jay was gone. Damn it!! It was then I was on a mission. I made noise to scare the other birds away and waited patiently for him to come back. I watched as he headed out of the woods. Stopping here and there. Then there he was. On the branch in clear site. Snap snap. Wuuuu huuuuuuuuuu The colors amaze me. Tail feathers and wing tips almost look like sequence. What a pretty bird, and I got him!
The rest of the day was a typical Saturday. Household chores and laundry. Oh the joy! I'm hoping to get out tomorrow to take a few pictures. I wanted to do that on Friday when I left work early but I had a headache brought on by stress. I just didn't have the umph to go so I just came home and relaxed. Let's hope the weather is half way decent tomorrow........
I am off to bed. I hope everyone had a great day.. and I wish you a peaceful Sunday.
Hugs
~d
