!Tick check tick check
While at the barber's waiting for my husband, I read "Field and Stream".
They have a lot of preventive medicine information.
This link has talks that discuss tick prevention.

If you don't want to read it, you might check the "radio" file here on tick prevention...under radio links go to "man vs. tick"...

It's funny, and in plain English-- as opposed to medicaleze that is used on too many medical sites.
They have a nice article on people who risk lives to save people stranded in the wilderness:

They also have an oyster recipe to welcome home hunters :
8 oysters
11/2 sticks margarine or butter
1 10-ounce package frozen chopped spinach, thawed
4 tablespoons minced onion
4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup minced celery
1/4 teaspoon dried tarragon leaves
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
2/3 cup toasted, fresh bread crumbs
3 tablespoons margarine or butter, melted
rock salt
Scrub the oysters with a stiff brush under cold running water. Shuck and drain them. Melt 12 tablespoons of margarine or butter in a small saucepan. Add the ingredients from spinach through Tabasco sauce. Simmer about 5 minutes. Spread a layer of rock salt in a baking pan. Place the deep halves of the oyster shells level on the salt. Place an oyster in each. Spread the spinach mixture over each oyster. Combine the bread crumbs and the remaining 3 tablespoons of margarine or butter. Sprinkle it over the tops. Bake at 450 degrees until the oysters are done, about 10 to 15 minutes. Serves 8.
Bon appetit !
