Thirty, Three-Oh, Three X Ten

Today is my 30th birthday! I'm not ready to be thirty! How did I get here so quick? My twenties...where did they go? F-A-S-T, wherever they went.

My youth, has been hijacked by aliens! But somewhere in my mind, there's a graveyard called YESTERDAY - where my youth lies...

Me, three months old

Nine - Eleven, 2001

Today, marking our 5th Anniversary of 9-11, I've rec'd numerous emails containing memorials to this date. As I'm sure many others have also.

One email contained this message:

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you,
Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Let's not forget either of them!
I'd like to list two people, in the family, who have served in Iraq. May God Bless!

Sgt. Herbert "Louie" Hall, Camp Bernstein, Iraq. Oct. 2003-Dec. 2005*

Major Judy Smith, Camp Anaconda, Iraq.
Nov. 2003-Sept. 2004*

I'm Back! Yippy-Kay-yay!

It's been a rough few weeks, I've been suffering NMS (No Monitor Syndrom) and it was worse than the Bird Flu. I borrowed a monitor and I have been online reading emails - just because I can! When I do sign off, I get a guilty feeling, as if I have just pulled the plug on a loved one. It's sad, I know.

My daughter, Corky, has been the teacher's pet for so many years that it's hard to believe that this year.....I believe her teacher may already have a pet and not need her. She's not the teacher's pet this year. Sounds like another kid, Nicole, has stolen Corky's spot. It's Nicole's duty to report Corky for every move or sound Corky makes...Nicole's the "monitor." Corky has gotten into trouble twice this week. I remember those days, it's hell to be a kid...

Unemployed Jester - Nobody's fool

Still looking for a job. Its amazing how it seems it takes me twice as long to look half as good - just for an interview. "The Lord giveth..." and time taketh some of it away. That's just how it is. I had a friend call from the local hospital about me filling out an application. Well did that - two weeks ago! Still waiting. Awww...I hate to wait! Hence, the reason I haven't posted many entries. I hate waiting on AOL.

Some interviews seem like a total waste of make-up. Like today, I don't even wanna try. I almost know word for word how it'll go. "...don't call us, we'll call you." (Yeah, well how 'bout I keep calling you until you hire me then I call in sick!)

The girls have been back to school since Thursday, the 10th and today is Corky's 10th birthday. Man, is she getting old. We had a pig out time, you know, spend $5 on pizza and $50 on junk food. She watched Grease 2 all day. over and over. Now the 'back-to-school,' 'cool rider' songs are stuck into my head.

I went to the store to pick up a sprite, but when I got home realized it was a ginger ale. F.Y.I.: its a drink that makes your stomach have the same sensation as when your hand or foot goes to sleep. I don't like it. Neither did the girls. I searched and cleaned the house for any spare change, and discovered my girls have nightgowns and pajamas. Don't ask me why they have both.

It amazes me how when I hear that alarm going off I'm dead tired, then I remember why it's going off (school) and I'm instantly energized. That's when that Capital One song pops into my head: FREEDOM!

My step-dad, Billy, will tell me I have 'Van Gogh's' ear for singing. I didn't know Billy knew Van Gogh & I surely didn't know he could use analogies.

Rec'd a few bills in the mail. Good thing I watched Dr. Phil Friday. Dr. Phils says to avoid unnecessary stress - so I refuse to open any bills. Dr's orders! I'll file them under W for waste and cross-reference them to B for basket.

A cute quote: "I suffer from amnesia and Deja' vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before." With that being said...I can't remember what I've forgotten to write....

For those asking: (or not) Billy is doing better. He is better than he was but not as good as before he got worse. I've learned the best time to talk to him and ask things - is when he's weak or about to have some precedure done. He's so giving during those times....

*depression is merely anger without enthusiasm! Remember that! If you are going to have anger - express it. Aim low. Avoid disappointments! LOL

Home Sweet Home

It's been a long, long time, or so it seems. Me and my girls went to Tennessee to spend a quiet and relaxing week away, but what we found out was that, "you must go away to learn there's no place like home." I was homesick at the SC/NC state line.

But the week wasn't all too bad, we went to the Cherokee Dam, Panther Creek and of course a trip to TN isn't complete without visiting Gatlinburg. Tennessee is noted for its excellent attractions, or so it says in the leaflet.

Hot & Hazy, Long & Lazy days are in Tennessee!

Pictures to be added later.

Happy Birthday Billy

My stepdad, Billy, had a surprise birthday party yesterday. I had the job of taking him off while everyone arrived. The reason I say it was a job, is because he never wants to go anywhere.

Upon arriving at the house, he spotted the balloon and asked what it was there for. As we got closer he seen it was a birthday balloon and then driving into the driveway he seen "all the people" and asked, "what have you all done gone and done?" He seen his brother-in-law first and he was so excited that he tried to get out of the car while still buckled up.

I believe he was very surprised, for once. It was hard to discuss how and when to do things, for he always seemed to be listening. He had a great time, I believe.

While his cake was not "perfect" we explained that we couldn't afford the letter "Y" therefore it said, "Happy Birthday Bill!"

And the candle, well no one thought to get 54 candles, so in order to do a birthday right, we grabbed a voltive candle for him to make a wish....

A Cute Joke

I ran across a cute joke and I thought it was funny. Seeing how we are to go to Tennessee next weekend to visit family I thought I'll post it and maybe then if I can't remember it I'll look it up for them to read it. LOL

Long, long ago a Native American chief was about to die, so he called for Killing Bear and Falling Rocks, the two bravest warriors in his tribe. The chief instructed each warrior to hunt buffalo. Whoever returned with the most buffalo skins would be chief.

About a month later Killing Bear came back with 100 pelts, but sadly Falling Rocks never returned.

Today as you drive through the Smokey Mountains, you can see evidence of the love and devotion the tribe had for this missing brave. At nearly every mile marker there are signs - Watch for Falling Rocks.

Happy 4th Ya'll!

Today is the 230th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a.k.a. the 4th of July. Without reading that somewhere I should have known that, I mean I was born 1976, the bi-centennial and DUH! I'm headed towards the big 3-0, thirty!

Just look at what my thirty years has seen: Desert Storm, 9-11, rising cost of gas and decrease in pay. Will there be anything left for other countries to envy in thirty years from now? I mean we are the envy of most countries, because of our freedoms, right? But I gaze around and I see, violence in our back yards, our values and morals slipping by and we don't even realize it. We do have cellular phones and computers that are better than even those of ten years ago. But what else? Another world war and America may be history. What can a bunch of chocoholic, computer wizards do in war? Except stay up all night and play games online?

I stayed home this 4th; mainly to keep the blue lights away from me. Those blue lights come in any type of car now-a-days, and one can never be too sure. This 4th has been the most miserable one yet, no fire works, no neighbors to watch shoot fire works, and I don't even have a bar of chocolate for comfort.

Actually, I'm trying to quit eating chocolate. In doing so, I've accidentally OD on candy corn, which has made me sick, probably because most people don't keep that stuff past October 31st. Yuck!

Here's some patriotic pictures of our humble American life:

I've Joined "AA"

I went to my first "AA" meeting, and I must add, I've joined. "AA" of course meaning, Adult Amnesia. As I was headed there, I was found on the steps - trying to remember if I was coming or going.

I'm a born loser. I lose everything: my phone, my keys, my purse, pens, even my mind. Just this week, I left a store, opposite side of when I went in, and lost my car. After finding the car, I realized I lost my keys. When I seen the keys in the car, I tried to call a locksmith only to discover I lost signal.

And you thought your bad day was worse than mine!
