Hello Robins

For our next Round Robin Challenge, Becky, author of the journal "Where Life Takes You," has chosen "Super Model" as the topic. Oh the glamour! :) Have you always wanted to be a top fashion model? Have you always wanted to be a top fashion & style photographer? Care to take a spin on the catwalk? Are you too sexy for your shirt? Too sexy for your hat? Whatcha think about that!? Time for our next challenge...

Coy, author of the journal, "Dancing in the Rain," has chosen for our next Round Robin Photo Challenge: Wabi-Sabi. Wabi-Sabi is based on the ancient Japanese art form of appreciating the beauty of things imperfect, impermanent or incomplete. It can also be objects or places that are modest or unconventional. Material characteristics of Wabi-Sabi include: Suggestions of natural process, irregular, intimate, unpretentious, earthy, simple. One striking example of Wabi-Sabi would be a Japanese tea ceremony, where the principals of Zen Buddhism are practiced. A ceremony which is rooted in harmony, tranquility and purity. I like the idea of celebrating the beauty of the ordinary, I always tend to look for the imperfect in art and style, I like seeing beyond the face...straight to the soul of the matter. How about you? Hello Robins :) This challenge is now closed!

Our next Round Robin Challenge celebrates my most favorite and what I think is the most bestest holiday of all...Halloween. The challenge was chosen this time around by none other then my hubby Alan, who also thinks kindly of the bestest holiday ever...Halloween. Alan is the author of the journal, "F-Stop" and he assures me that he has a nifty picture that will be just perfect for this challenge. So how about all of you? Have a picture sitting around of a real live ghost? Happen to catch a witch riding a broom lately? Any spooky happenings in your neighborhoods? Did you answer when ET phoned home? Do you have headless horseman delivering your pizzas? Are your Halloween decorations extra spooky this year? If so, take a photo of it, and come back here to join in the fun. The date of the next challenge will be Wedneday, October 26th, between the midnights. So go out there and be photographers!

We have an intriguing subject for our next Round Robin Challenge, it has been chosen by Patrick, author of the journal "A Stop At Willoughby," and it will be..."Secrets." Fun huh? The challenge date is Wednesday, September 28th. There's a lot of ways to interpret that challenge. Maybe you have a secret place you keep your special mementoes, maybe you have a secret crush on someone, or maybe you have a very special place you like to visit that you haven't shared, because it is your very own special secret. Hello Robins...            

Our next Round Robin Challenge will take place on Wednesday, September 14th, and the subject, as chosen by our friend Monica, author of the journal Mamarazzi, will be "Heroes" We all have them don't we. They may be the Teachers who devote a little extra time to their students, or our local Firefighters, EMTs and Police Officers who keep us safe, maybe they are the dedicated volunteers of Neighborhood Watches or those who help us feel more secure in our own homes. A hero could be the Mentors who give of their free time to help a young person achieve their potential. There are so many different kinds of heroes in the world, and because what a hero is means a little something different to each of us, I am really looking forward to seeing all your interpretations of this challenge. Monica wrote to me in an email that the inspiration for this subject came from watching the devestation of hurricane Katrina,"maybe we should do a challenge that would pay tribute to the heroes in our lives."

Remember the date for this challenge is Wednesday, September 14th, between the midnights. If you have never joined us before, please read the "Welcome Entry and Rules of Play" Please DO NOT post your entry before that date. My reasoning for this is simple...it isn't fair to the Robin whose turn it is to choose the subject, plus if we all post on the same date there is a better chance of having your entry be seen. I really must insist that everyone follow this rule. From this challenge on, I will remove any link left to an entry posted early! If for some reason you have to post early, I will gladly work with you. Drop me an email explaining your circumstances and we will work together, or you can opt to post your entry late, up to one week, and I will make sure the other Robins know to visit youon a specific day to see your entry. :)

Our friend Robbie, author of the journal, "Robbie's Ruminations" has chosen "Labor" as the subject for our next Round Robin Challenge in honor of the upcoming Labor Day holiday. This challenge will be taking place on Wednesday, August 31st...as usual between the midnights. :) Will you post a photo of a Labor Day party from a past year? How about a photo of you on the job, or maybe someone else at work. Maybe a photo of the youngster who mows your lawn...the possibilities are endless! So, lets go out there and soak up some sun and comeback with terrific interpretations of this wonderful subject. Feeling Happy

Hello Robins                  

We have a wonderful new photo challenge in store for us. It is Dawn's turn to choose the subject for this new round, and I have to say...I find this one especially intriguing. Dawn has chosen..."Who I Am In Black & White." I love black and white photography, but for some unknown reason I haven't done nearly as many photographs in black and white as I would have liked to. I am also becoming more interested in doing self-portraits. I find them kinda fun. Searching for the best lighting, and the right items for in the background...even trying to decide if I want to use a prop from my photo software to make the picture more interesting! The possibilities are endless, and so if the enjoyment of feeling creative. Dawn is the author of the journal "Dawn's Drivel," and she is an amazingly creative photographer. Thank-you Dawn for the neat idea for the challenge. So, mark the date on the calendar for Wednesday, August 17th, between the midnights, as the date for our next Round Robin Challenge. Please read the reminders below about how to play along, or if you are new to the Round Robin Challenges, see the "Welcome" entry.

* Please leave your first name and the full URL or your journal in the comments below.

* Please do not post your entry early. I want everyone to have the best chance to have their entries be seen...so please post your entry on the day of the challenge or up to one week after.

* If you are using a non-digital camera to play along, and black and white film is unavailable to you, you can take a color photograph and then edit it using the AOL picture editor. If you have any questions about this, drop me an email and I will be happy to help you with it. :)

*Please try to sign-up nolater then the day before each challenge, by 6:00 PM Pacific time. In this case it will be, Tuesday August 16th. Some time before midnight on Tuesday, I will send a linking email to all the Robins who play along so they can link back to your entry. If you do come in late, I will send one updated linking list to the other Robins, late in the day of the challenge. I will also keep this journal updated as new Robins come along for the fun.
