What to do with Islamic radicals
THREE CHEERS FOR AMERICA
I will admit I 'transcribed' this...'translated' it..from an email sent by a hawk friend. I simply rewrote it and applied it to today's America. From one perspective it might be called scandalous, intolerant, un-American. Fom another point of view it might even be called plagiarism. Read it. Think about it and then comment. Like it or not, it responds to many of our country's problems...
I wish the leaders of our country would take a stand. Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia laws should leave the country.
Some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they do not accept that America is a secular state and its laws manmade. "If these are not your values, if you want a country which lives by Sharia law or a theocratic state, then....America...is not for you," Peter Costello said this. I just changed Australia to America.
I rephrased some of this: ... if you are teaching that there are two laws governing people in America, one American and another Islamic, that is simply not true. If you can't agree with our laws, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and you have a chance to go to another country then perhaps that is the best option
Immigrants, not Americans, must adapt. Be not against immigration, or hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming legally to America, however there are a few things those who recently came to this country...and, unfortunately, some born here and I am speaking to the Amerian religious right...need to understand. Yes, we are a multicultural community and proud of it but we do not allow that to dilute our sovereignity or our national identity. As Americans we have a fantastic culture, society. A tradition of tolerance for other thoughts, ideas, and beliefs worth dying for. Our own language and lifestyle and culture...be it Hollywood or TV evangalism...developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak mainly English, it is our native tongue. We think you should, too. Therefor, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language.
Sane, intelligent, reasoning, rational Americans believe in Freedom of Religion. This is not some left wing nonsense but a fact because Americans, on principles of religious freedom, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. Please acquaint yourself with our Constitution and the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights.
It is certainly appropriate to display the bill of Rights on the walls of our schools. If these Freedoms offend you then I suggest you consider another part of the world to live in, because these Freedoms are a very important part of our culture.
We accept your beliefs and will not question why, all we ask is that you accept ours and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us, If you cannot then I suggest you go elsewhere. We are happy with our cluture, our society, and know there is plenty of room for improvement. We don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means keep your culture but do not force it down our throats. This goes for the American religious radicals, too.
This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we are happy to share it. We have a Flag, a Pledge...say under God or don't say under God, that's your right...and the right to believe or not believe. We accept all newcomers, welcome them, we were all newcomers once upon a time, but you must get along with us, not we with you. It's all pretty easy, when you think about it. and it applies to all of us who live in this great country.
Peace and Love Bettejo

I am confused...all the comments seem to lambast the Democrats -- with good reason....not your theme of "If you came here because you wanted the life style of AMerica....why do you want it to be just like home? I once, long ago, went on a very inexpensive trip to France, Belgium and Italy...people who complained that it wasn't like HOME....my question was....THEN STAY HOME...it's a lot cheaper. "... Many good people worked hard for the Bill of RIghts...it's for everyone who wants too call this country home...don't leave your home base if you want it to be just the same, but a little more money. Personally, I LOVE THIS COUNTRY, THE FLAG AND THE ANTHEM. There are improvements to be made, but that's a start, not a place to walk backwards. African Americans, Latinos, Asians....all have a right - and that's not the conservative, backward right of the President and others who want to save the country for their own profit.

I don't believe the democrats will win anything. They will be lucky if they don't lose any ground. The republicans know how to win elections. I am a democrat, and I vote as a democrat, but I feel like a weary democrat. The party is devoid of ideas. They cannot win elections unless they give people a reason to vote for them. They have not done that. I don't even know where they stand on the Iraq war fiasco. They have jumped all over the place on that. They are disorganized. They are divided. The republicans are closing in on them now. They can get their diehards to turn out. If the democrats don't win one house of congress, I give up on the party.

I don't think the democrats will do well in the mid-term elections. The democrats should win in a landslide, but the party is to weak. It is the democrats own doing, and they can blame themselves and nobody else. The democrats haven't given people one sustantial reason to vote for them. I think the democrats will be lucky if they regain the House of Representatives by a small margin, but I wouldn't be surprised if the republicans kept control of both houses of congress. The democrats need to come with an agenda that appeals to the people and act on it. The party is relying on people rejecting the republicans. The democrats haven't given me a reason to vote for them. The party is seriously in danger of becoming a minority party. The republicans appeal to their base very well, and they have stolen all the democrats issues. The democrats let them do it, but the democrats haven't done anything that has made even a dent in the problems facing this country, especially on domestic issues. The democrats are supposed to be the party of the people, but they are very republican on many issues. I won't vote for the republicans, but if I am busy on election day, I will skip it. The democrats gave me no reason at all to go to the polls enthusiastically. The republicans keep cleaning the democrats clock, and I am sure they will do it again this time and in 2008.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Bush knew about 9/11. Everyone I know is sure he and his circle knew about it. As for throwing some oats at the goats, that is true also. That is probably why voter turnout is so low. In non-presidential election years, usually most people don't vote. In presidential years, a substantial minority of the people still don't vote. The media call it voter apathy. I have another idea. People who don't vote feel it won't make any differnence who gets elected. They are voting in a different way. We who do cast a vote are voting for crooks. The same problems come up every four years because nothing is done to solve them. The politicians want it that way. If people really thought it would make a difference so many people wouldn't sit out our elections. People who are homebound can still get a ballot and have someone mail it for them, but most don't do it. The non-voters are saying that things will stay the same. They aren't all that wrong. I am thinking of sitting out the mid-term elections. I won't vote for the republicans, but the democrats have not given me a reason to be bothered. The democrats are completely devoid of any ideas at all that would change our society for the better. They are just as tied to business as the republicans. That is who the government works for, and it is the same at the state and local levels. As for 9/11, anyone who thinks the government wasn't behind that is an ass. They not only knew about it, but as Margelovesusa said, the government probably did it. The government will kill us if need be. There are a lot of dorks in this society who do not see that the government is capable of all kinds of atrocities.
