9-11  Brian T Cummins  WTC

remembering

September 11, 2001 was a beautiful fall day.  The sky didn't have any clouds and the weather was just beautiful.

I imagine that Brian got up early - as was normal for week days -- and got ready to go to his job at Cantor Fitzgerald (which was on the 104th floor of World Trade Center #1).

As he was leaving his home in NJ and on his comute to NYC what was he thinking?  That it was a beautiful day?  A great day to be alive.  Was he thinking about work?  Or maybe about his family, his parents, brothers and their families?

As he got to work and settled in to doing his job on the trading floor it must have seemed like a thousand other work days.  Then at 8:45 AM his world started crashing in around him.

There is no way of knowing if Brian and his co-workers really knew what was happening. Ifknew what was happening. What they were thinking, how frightened they must have been.

There was no way for Brian to know (or to begin to understand) that terrorist from thousands of miles away had decided that this was the day they were going to kill thousands of Americans.

(to read more about Brian's life click here --->> Brian Cummins)

I know exactly were I was and what I was doing when I heard the news of the attacks.  I bet you do.  The attacks have affected each of us in different ways.  Watching the news at the time was almost impossible.  It hurt seeing all the destruction that was happening in NYC, Washington DC, and in PA.

September 11, 2001 slowly came to have a face.  Itwas the face of terrorist.  The face of Bin Laden.  But I urge you today not think of his face, or of the terrorist.  No, don't let them have that place in your thoughts and in your memories of that day.

Picture instead the picture above of Brian.  A 38 year old man that didnothing but go to work one day.  And that caused him his life.  Take the time to go here -->>2,996 ยป List of Participants
and click on each of 3173 names that are listed there.  Go read the tributes in honor of those that died that day.  Look at the faces.  Remember them.  Remember to think of them and their families on each and every September 11th that comes around.  Don't give the terriorst any space in your head.  They don't deserve it.
