Feeling Grateful

First off I want to wish everyone a very happy and safe 4th of July!!!  We are staying home and will enjoy the festivities a little later on this evening here on base. 

Things have been way too quiet around here for me....lol.   My oldest son Braydon called last night and he wants to come back home.   He misses his friends and when he is here he has the freedom to walk to the pool or to the teen center.  So there is just so much more for him to do here than at his dad's.   Im sure his dad is disappointed but said he wasnt gonna force him to stay.  So now I will be the only female in a house full of boys!!!   Lord help me......lol 

              

We signed Jordyn up to play soccer earlier in the week.  My husband is so excited...he went out and bought him a soccer ball and they have been outside the last few evenings kicking around the soccer ball.  Although I dont think Jordyn needs much teaching since he has been watching soccer since the day he was born.  His big brother Braydon was playing competitive soccer and from the time he could walk was starting to kick around a soccer ball.  It will be so much fun to actually see him play!!!

              

Tomorrow we are gonna take a drive up to the mountains where our adoptive parents have their motorhome.  They have invited us up there for a BBQ.  They miss Jordyn too.  They had him up there for about 4 days and Jordyn loved it!!!  Now when he gets mad at his dad or I he says "Im gonna go to my grandma's".....lol.  He just cracks me up.

Well,  I better get going ........have fun!!!!

Feeling Fabulous

Wow....two entries in one day!!!   I just had to share the wonderful news.  I think I mentioned a few entries ago that my oldest daughter Jennifer and her boyfriend are moving out on their own.  They had put a deposit down to hold the place and were waiting for Bobby to finish the academy and Jennifer had to find a new job.  Everything worked out just perfect!!!!

Jennifer was hired on the spot at her interview today at her new job.  It is just around the corner from her house and she will be making more money than before.  I am so excited for her.

And Bobby graduated from the Riverside Sheriff's Academy on Monday.  I am so proud of them both.  I am so glad to see them getting good jobs and being able to handle things on their own. 

 

On another note my baby boy is also gone again.  He left today to go camping with his other adoptive grandparents.  They bought him a sleeping bag and everything he was so excited.  So you know what that means....

NO KIDS!!!! 

My husband and I can run through the house naked and not have to worry about a thing...lol.  Ok I know too much information....lol

Alright well I am off to go cuddle with my husband on the couch.....have a great night!!!

Feeling Happy

HELLO....WE'RE BACK!!!  WOW....WHERE DO I BEGIN??? 

WE LEFT FOR OUR VACATION LAST THURSDAY MAKING OUR FIRST STOP IN POMONA TO DROP THE KIDS OFF AT GRANDMA'S.   SOMEWHERE ALONG THE WAY WE DECIDED WE WANTED TO PICK UP A FEW EXTRA THINGS FOR THE TRIP SO WE MADE A STOP AT THE BREA MALL DID A LITTLE SHOPPING AND HAD LUNCH.  WE DROVE THROUGH LONG BEACH WHERE I USE TO LIVE, I EVEN DROVE DOWN MY OLD STREET WHERE I LIVED FOR OVER 16 YEARS.  THE HOUSE STILL LOOKED THE SAME!!!!  WE TOOK THE FREEWAY TO DOWNTOWN LONG BEACH AND THEN OVER THE VINCENT ST. THOMAS BRIDGE INTO SAN PEDRO.  WE STOPPED AT PORTS O CALL VILLAGE TO WALK AND STRETCH OUR LEGS AFTER ABOUT A 3 1/2 HOUR DRIVE FROM THE DESERT.   WE  CHECKED INTO OUR HOTEL AND THEN HEADED A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD TO CABRILLO BEACH AND ENJOYED A NICE WALK ON THE BEACH AND PLAYED IN THE SAND AND WATCHED THE WINDSURFERS FOR AWHILE.  THEN IT WAS BACK TO THE HOTEL TO GET SOME SLEEP.

FRIDAY MORNING WE HAD SOME TIME TO KILL SO WE DECIDED TO GO TO THE MARITIME MUSEUM TO KEEP OURSELVES BUSY UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO BOARD THE SHIP.   WE FINALLY WERE ABLE TO BOARD AROUND 1 PM.   TO MY SURPRISE OUR STATEROOM HAD BEEN UPGRADED FROM AN OCEANVIEW ROOM WITH A PORTHOLE TO A JUNIOR SUITE WITH A PRIVATE BALCONY!!!  WHILE WAITING FOR OUR LUGGAGE TO ARRIVE WE HEADED STRAIGHT TO THE POOL DECK WHERE THE PARTY HAD ALREADY STARTED.  WE DID GET TO SPEND A LITTLE TIME AT THE POOL BEFORE OUR MANDATORY EMERGENCY DRILL.   AFTERWARDS WE JUST DECIDED TO SHOWER AND GET READY FOR A NIGHT OF DINNER AND DANCING, I THINK WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK TO OUR ROOM ABOUT 2 AM.

THE NEXT MORNING WE WERE IN ENSENADA, MEXICO.  WE TOOK A TOUR INTO LA BUFADORA WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO DO A LITTLE SHOPPING, HAD LUNCH AT THE HABANA BANANA WHICH WAS SO MUCH FUN.  THE SCENERY WAS AMAZING AS WELL AS THE GEYSER WHICH WAS THE MAIN ATTRACTION.  WHEN WE GOT BACK TO SHIP WE HAD TO GET READY FOR FORMAL NIGHT WHICH WAS ALSO OUR ANNIVERSARY.  WHILE AT DINNER OUR WAITERS SANG HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US.  WE THEN WENT TO A RECEPTION WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO MEET OUR CAPTAIN.  SHE IS THE FIRST FEMALE CAPTAIN OF A CRUISE SHIP.  GO KARIN!!!!   WE SPENT THE REST OF THE EVENING GOING TO THE THEATRE AND THEN STOPPING IN AT THE CASINO WHERE WE LOST A FEW DOLLARS.....LOL.

OUR NEXT DAY WAS A FULL DAY ON SHIP WHERE WE WERE ABLE TO TRY TO DO AS MUCH AS WE COULD.  WE AWOKE TO A BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE VIEW , AFTER BREAKFAST LOUNGED BY THE POOL FOR AWHILE BEFORE SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES STARTED THEN IT WAS ROCK CLIMBING AND DODGEBALL FOR MY HUSBAND.  TANNING POOLSIDE AND A GAME OF BINGO FOR ME.  WE WATCHED COOKING DEMONSTRATIONS AND ICE SCULPTING.  LISTENED TO LIVE ENTERTAINERS ....THERE WAS SO MUCH TO DO AND SEE....I HAD NO IDEA.  I DONT THINK I HAVE HAD SO MUCH FUN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.   WE SPENT ANOTHER NIGHT AT THE THEATRE AFTER DINNER AND THEN DECIDED TO GO IN EARLY SINCE WE HAD TO GET UP EARLY.

WE ARRIVED BACK IN L.A. AT ABOUT 5:30 AM AND WERE ABLE TO START DEPARTING AT 6:30....WOW WAS THAT AN EXPERIENCE.....LOL.  ANYWAY WE FINALLY MADE IT BACK HOME AROUND 1 IN THE AFTERNOON ON MONDAY.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A CRUISE BEFORE YOU HAVE TO GO!!!  WE HAVE ALREADY DECIDED WE ARE GOING TO GO AGAIN.  WE TOOK OVER 100 PICTURES BUT I TRIED TO NARROW IT DOWN A BIT AND TRIED TO PICK A FEW OF MY FAVORITES TO SHARE WITH YOU.  I HOPE YOU ENJOY AND IF IT GIVES YOU THE FEVER JUST GO TO ROYALCARIBBEAN.COM........LOL

Feeling Giddy

Good morning all.....well as you can tell from the title of my entry, I am now on vacation for a week!!! 

This past fall when my husband was on deployment he decided to surprise me by booking us on a cruise for our 5th wedding anniversary!!!  We never got a "real" honeymoon due to the fact that he was tranferring duty stations at the time and we had to move and it just didnt fit into our time schedule.  So here we are 5 years later finally getting our honeymoon....lol.

We are going on a 3 day cruise to Ensenada, Mexico.  Neither of us have ever been on a cruise before.  Unless you count his West Pac tours.....lol.  I keep hearing all kinds of things from different people some good ....some bad.  I guess the biggest concern is if I get sea sick or not????  So I have decided to just take something as a precaution.   My sister went on a cruise and she got sick.  I just dont want to waste any time not feeling well,  I want to enjoy every moment!!!

So today we are just gonna be packing up our things.  Grandma is gonna watch the kids for us.  Her house is on the way so it works out great.  I have an appointment later on to go get a pedicure....I had to start my vacation off right....lol.  We have a couple of errands to run to pick up our drycleaning and a few extra items for the trip.  My husband decided to rent a tux for the formal night instead of wearing his dress blues.  He kept asking me and I was undecided. But since this in non military we decided we just wanted to fit in and not stand out in any way. 

We will be leaving tomorrow even though our cruise doesnt leave until Friday we have rented a hotel room for the night.  We are gonna just take in some sights and enjoy our alone time.  So we will be gone for a total of 5 days.....I cannot honestly tell you the last time I was away from home for that long....probably when I went to cheer camp in high school......lol.  Needless to say I am so ready!!!!!  I am so glad I am at the point in my life where I can go somewhere without the kids and not have to worry too much, now that they are getting older things are much easier!!!

Well,  time to go jump in the shower and start my vacation!!!!  I think my husband was gonna try to take our laptop but I am not gonna let him.  So I will have to update you all when I return.  And of course I will have a ton of pictures to share!!!

Feeling Excited

                     

 

Well we have officially made it through another school year.  My daughter Danyelle made the honor roll,  I am so very proud of her hard work!!!!

I am counting down the days......this time next week my husband and I will  be on a cruise ship celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary....I am so excited I cant wait!!! Then as soon as we get back we will have the house all to ourselves for about a week or so.  Jordyn has been invited to go camping with his adoptive grandparents.  I don't think my husband and I have ever spent more than a day without at least one of the kids with us. This is going to be a new experience for us. I hope I can make it.....lol.  Jordyn is my baby although already 4 1/2 not much of a baby any more really but as a mom its very hard to let go of the last one.  I am very much in need of a break after being a single mom for 7 months and we know that is why they have offered to give us this time as husband and wife, they know how important it is for us to have this time for ourselves!!!

Well,  I am going to go finish taking advantage of my free time.  I have one of those rare moments where I have the house all to myself.  My husband is enjoying a day out with his son they went to go see the Incredible Hulk and go to lunch.  He loves spending time with his little man.  Then when they get back and it cools down a little we will go hang out at the pool for awhile. I love summer ....its the best!!!!

Feeling Hopeful

Good morning,

Wow.....this week just flew by!!!!   I dont' know about everyone else but these gas prices are really kickin my a**!!!!!  We have really had to sit back and decide when we are going to take trips and go places and when we aren't.  Not like before where we could just get up and go on a whim.  I have noticed more and more people walking places and riding bikes to get from place to place.  The thing that gets me is this is what we should of been doing all along.  People dont start to change until they are forced to.  All of us want the convenience of modern life.  And then when a shortage or prices go sky high.....only then do we start to change our ways or complain.  Its really sad that it has to get to that point before people realize it. 

Well we had a good time last weekend celebrating birthdays for our girls.  As I mentioned we didnt really do much for the oldest Jennifer.  But the exciting news is she will officially be moving out at the end of the month.  That is if her new job comes through. (Keeping my fingers crossed).  Her and her boyfriend went and put their deposit down.  She couldnt wait to show me she was so excited!!!  So of course we had to go shopping to buy her some new things.  We had so much fun!!!!

Danyelle had a little get together at her dad's house. We had lunch and cake and ice cream.  Her grandparents drove out and joined us.  It was really nice. 

School is almost out!!!!  Just a couple more days........Braydon and Danyelle will be spending the summer at their dad's house.  So I will only have one at home all summer.  I say every year I cant wait and then a couple of weeks go by and I want them all back home....lol.  It's going to be hard to keep Jordyn entertained.  He is so use to having his big brother and sisters around all the time.  But he has a few little kids that live right here on our street that he plays with all the time.  We have encouraged him to play with kids his own age rather than always tagging behind his older siblings.  Besides they dont want him around anyway......lol.

So this weekend we will just be hanging out around home.  I am trying to convince my husband to take the kids to the movies or something.  I have some serious housework to catch up on.  I usually do it on my day off but my husband is on leave this month and Wednesday we spent the day together and I didnt get much done.  I wanted to get it done early so we could maybe go hang out at the pool later on.  Well, I guess I better get started or I will never make it.....lol.

Feeling Fabulous   YES IT'S TRUE....MY DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY'S ARE 10 YEARS AND 1 DAY APART.....HOW DID I GET SO LUCKY......LOL.  I REMEMBER JENNIFER CRYING BECAUSE I HAD TO POSTPONE HER 10TH BIRTHDAY PARTY.  I HAD PROMISED HER A POOL PARTY.  I REMEMBER HER TALENT SHOW BEING ON THE 3RD OF JUNE AT SCHOOL.  SHE DID NOT WANT TO SHARE HER BIRTHDAY WITH THE NEW BABY....LOL   I REMEMBER FEELING CONTRACTIONS AND JUST PRAYED...... I TRIED TO SIT AND DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.  FINALLY A LITTLE AFTER MIDNIGHT WHEN MY HUSBAND THEN GOT HOME I SAID WE GOTTA GO!!!  I NEVER SAID ANYTHING TO ANYONE.  DANYELLE WAS BORN THE NEXT MORNING JUNE 1ST!!!!   I WAS SO GLAD I WAS ABLE TO HOLD OFF A FEW HOURS....LOL   THE DAY AFTER I CAME HOME I FORCED MYSELF TO THE SCHOOL TO SIT ON THOSE TERRIBLY UNCOMFORTABLE METAL FOLD OUT CHAIRS TO WATCH JENNIFER DANCE IN THE TALENT SHOW AT SCHOOL.  LEAVING MY 2 DAY OLD BABY HOME WITH HER DADDY FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS.    THEN ABOUT A WEEK LATER WE HAD JENNIFER'S POOL PARTY AS PROMISED.  IT WAS CRAZY BUT ONE THING I HAVE LEARNED AS A PARENT DONT MAKE PROMISES TO YOUR CHILDREN THAT YOU DONT INTEND TO KEEP BECAUSE THEY REMEMBER!!!!   THINGS HAVE BEEN MUCH EASIER SINCE THEN WITH HAVING BIRTHDAY PARTIES.  EVERY YEAR I DID THEM SEPARATE SO THEY DIDNT HAVE TO SHARE THEIR SPECIAL DAYS TOGETHER.  ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY ARE 10 YEARS APART.    AND TODAY IS MUCH EASIER SINCE ONE DAUGHTER IS GROWN AND MOM DOESNT HAVE TO THROW HER A BIRTHDAY PARTY ANY MORE.  WE DID SPEND A FEW HOURS TOGHETHER YESTERDAY AND SHE WILL BE JOINING US LATER ON TODAY TO CELEBRATE DANYELLE'S BIRTHDAY AT HER DAD'S HOUSE.   DANYELLE IS MY TOMBOY DOESNT LIKE TO WEAR DRESSES OR ANYTHING.  SHE LIKES TO WEAR LONG BERMUDA TYPE SHORTS NOT THE LITTLE ONES AND PREFERS TO HAVE HER HAIR PULLED BACK IN A PONY TAIL.  I KNOW SOMEDAY THAT WILL ALL CHANGE.  I DID MANAGE TO GET HER TO AGREE TO A CUTE PAIR OF BERMUDA SHORTS AND A PINK SHIRT TO WEAR TODAY.  AND IM HOPING SHE LETS ME STRAIGHTEN HER HAIR AND WILL WEAR IT DOWN EVEN IF JUST FOR A LITTLE WHILE SO WE CAN GET SOME PICTURES.   SHE IS MY TOUGH ONE... HER DAD'S (REAL AND STEP) BOTH SAY SHE IS JUST LIKE ME...LOL.  EVEN THOUGH I HAVE TWO BOYS SHE IS THE ONE I HAVE HAD IN THE ER FOR STITCHES....TWICE!!!  THE FIRST TIME SHE CUT HER FINGER ON A KNIFE AND GOT 3 STITCHES.  AND EARLIER THIS YEAR CUT HER HAND ON A FENCE AND GOT 7!!!!  SHE IS ALWAYS COMING HOME WITH BRUISES AND SCRAPPED KNEES AND ELBOWS...LOL   WELL....I TRIED TO GET UP EARLY SO I COULD HAVE A LITTLE QUIET TIME BUT THE KIDS ARE UP ALREAY....LOL  TIME TO GO!!!         ~~LIZ~~

Feeling Happy

I just wanted to make a quick entry to wish my oldest daughter Jennifer a very happy 20th birthday!!!!

I dont get to see her much these days and soon Im sure it will be even less since she finally got her own car she is now on to bigger and better things in life which is what every parent wishes for their child.

She will probably be moving at the end of June back down to the lower desert just because there are more jobs and a better oppourtunity for school down there.  Her boyfriend will be graduating from the Sherriff's academy in a few weeks. 

It is such a different world being a parent of an adult.  You really have to learn not to over step your boundries and offer advice as needed and try to let them know that you will always be here for them.

Looking back into the teen years you always wonder how you both will ever make it out alive.....lol.  Then when they finally blossom and set goals and start to fulfill them it is just such a wonderful feeling to know that all your words didnt go in one ear and out the other.  Something must have registered somewhere it just got buried for awhile....lol.

Its fun when we sit down and reminiscence about some of the things she did.  It sure the heck wasnt funny back then.  But now we can sit down and laugh about it.  I really cant say enough how proud I am of her and her accomplishments so far.  I am so anxious to see what comes next!!!!

Well I need to go get ready....I was fortunate enough for her to fit me in her busy schedule this morning.....lol....so we are gonna go spend some mother/daughter time together!!!
