Feeling Annoyed
Gay Festival in town...just disgusting....sheesh!!!!
Just letting off a little steam....tomorrow in downtown Lexington there will be a "Gay Festival"....you can figure out for yourself what a "gay festival" is????? seems Fayette County has some elected officials (who didn't comment on their life style until after the elections)....our vice mayor is gay....as is one of our city officials...sheesh...just makes me sick to my stomach....it is so very wrong...
and on the news a couple nights ago....we find our esteemed judges in Washington...the high and mighty judges....have deemed that it is unlawful...crime is not bad enough to render the death penalty....if someone rapes a child....????? duh????? well I have always said...if someone would do that to a child of mine...they wouldn't have to mess with the death penalty...I would do it for them LOLOL...
well thanks for letting me ramble...I do get a bit upset at times with our world and the way things are going....I try to sit back and look at the whole picture....but it keeps coming back....we have forgotten the one important person in our lives....our Lord....
but let something terrible happen...and who do we call??? hugs to all....God Bless

Feeling Happy
just this and that....
Just wanted to check in....we have had awesome weather here for the past few days...windy....a little rain...sunshine...and 70's temps....wonderful weather....
hubby and I decided it was time to clean the garage....it had become a real mess as that is where all the materials for the renovation of the bathroom/laundry room...were stored...now just a jumble of stuff....we backed the trailer up to the garage door...and the first bunch went to goodwill....the second bunch went to the landfill....the third bunch is put away...or packed away...separated into containers marked...sure looks nice now...we even pulled the side by side fridge out and cleaned it out...along with the upright freezer....nice to be able to find things now...and from the looks of it all I won't have to buy much in the way of veggies or meat...and the upright will be ready for some frozen veggies....will taste good this winter...right????
grand dau has had volleyball camp and conditioning this week....grandson has had baseball camp....both had physicals...nice to get that stuff out of the way...the pool is getting a work out every day...and I try to squeeze in a time or two for myself LOL...usually later in the evening...LOL..
my topsy turvy tomato plants are doing nicely...got lotsa blooms...looking for tomatoes soon....I put cherry tomatoes in one and big boy in the other....everyone has a comment to say abut them...but we did have to move them from to much sun to under the tree where they get shaded sun all day...
<IMG id=4300pLLiv2slpsR3pK0UU-hgCaEFlfiL3pPkv4xQp5Fd3Ig= title="topsy turvy" style="opacity: 1" onclick=PicturePicker.insertImage(this) alt="topsy turvy" src="http://shutter11.pictures.aol.com/data/pictures/24/00A/59/7D/5D/20/PjiVAwpTA2KVcB1AZ4pRBQ+x5ftC2Ep00180.jpg" onload=this.style.opacity=1; well....? doing are s>

I have about five clematis vines in myyard...one on the mailbox out front...one covering an old plow that was given to me long ago...and one that is about five years old in the patio flower bed...and two small ones...(which haven't bloomed as yet)....I really love to watch them...they do attract butterflies and hummingbirds...(but I have to much activity going on in my yard all day for the hummingbirds to be hanging around)...but every once in a while I spot one...they are so sweet....

well guess this is enough for today....think of you all lately...many have family illness...many have illness of their own...and my prayers are for you each one always....hugs...Ora

Feeling Confident
Hearing Pro Golf Match on tv...
Father's Day 2008
Yesterday was "Father's Day" ... but you all knew that...right??? Hope it was a happy day for each of you in your own way....
This is a pic of my hubby...second from left as you look at picture...that is our son Gary...big and tall....with grandson Justin next to his Dad...and grandson Cole next to Pappaw...that is Ginger the dog in front LOL....three generations of my men...all together...kinda nice....this was taken this past Spring!!!
We adopted our son Gary....one day old he was...fresh from the womb you might say....the only thing I missed in his life was the actual birth...but I was the first to hold him...after the nurses of course...and he was beautiful...had red hair he did...curly....LOL...but now is blond with lotsa gray in it...he is proud of his gray hair...he says..."Mom...I earned it" LOL..he has two boys of his own now...so I guess he has!!!
I didn't have any prior notice that I would be a footloose, fancy free wife one day....and a sleepy eyed...weary Mother later that week LOL...but oh the joy and memories....
well enough about me and Gary....want to talk about hubby and son Gary....they were close...Gary would watch at the window when he was about two....for his Daddy to come home...and how he would squeal when that beige Volkswagen would pull into the driveway....they were a pair...some evenings hubby would take him for a walk...Gary on Dad's shoulders...surveying his world from up on high....they made a picture around the neighborhood...sometimes tho the walk didn't go very far if they found someone to stop and talk too!!!!! which was often!!!
Gary had a good relationship with his Dad...but there were other outside influences that gave him emotional upheavel especially during his pre teen years....his Dad and I really didn't know this...but according to others..(did you catch the sarcasm?..I hope it came thru nicely).."preachers sons are supposed to have higher standards than other ordinary boys...and these "higher standards" were sometimes hard for a ten year old to handle....thus started the years of "I don't know you".... and I don't want to be out with you"... and we all were hurting....BUT....we persevered....we as parents...Gary as a growing boy...trying to please Dad and wanting to be a part of the "world"....with much prayer, tears, and dark days and nights.....we all became stronger in ourselves....
Gary was a tolerable student in school...suffice to say...he did what he wanted...and just as much as needed to get by...a favorite of his teachers....they all seemed to care for him...a boy with long curly hair....who had to shave before many middle schoolers did....but that was ok....he was clean in himself and mannerly....and that was good.....
He graduated....was happy....went out the following week to find a job....cannot let Dad give him gas money ....spending money...as he was a "man" now???!!!! Came home...had a job...and was wondering if he could borrow twenty dollars??? I gave it to him....he left....I figured to celebrate with friends.....but lo and behold....he came home...."sheared"....no hair.....just enough to tell he was a "man"....seems the folks who hired him...requested shorter hair if he wanted the job LOLOLOL....sheesh...I tried to get him to cut it for five years LOLOL....guess being "graduated" was the difference.....
Gary married a sweet girl....in Florida....Jill....and they had two boys....have a beautiful home on a lake...two dogs, Ginger...and Shaaa....two cats....Tink and ??? (I forget) LOL...good jobs...both of them...making their way...Justin the oldest grandson has joined the Marine Reserves....he will graduate basic come July....he also has his Electrician license...he will be working on helicopters....hopefully only here in the USA and not elsewhere!!!! Cole is 15....he is his Dad's boy....has his Dad's adolecent outlook on life...not doing well in school....thinks his way is best....Gary talks to him....but well...Gary didn't listen to well....so Cole?????
Hubby got the phone call..on Father's Day....talked for sometime...Mixon strolled around the yard while talking to Gary....not sure what Gary did...all I got out of the conversation was "your son says to tell you he love you!!!" so guess it was a manly talk....on Father's Day....and that's ok....I am sure they have lots to say to one another....both from the past....the now...and the future....!!!!!
Father's Day....a good day to reflect....on the good things in life.....
hugs to all....Ora

Feeling Quiet
boy did it rain.....and.....
thunder and lightening....sure stirred up the trees and bushes....flapping all over the place...I just knew our pool was gone...but it stayed in place thank goodness....flowers did ok also...as did our veggie garden....beat the plants down a bit...but the sunshine today brought them back upright...and perky lookin!!! the wind was the worst I do believe...we spent the early morning picking up small twigs and branches that came down...and moving deck chairs and tables back into place....and some house plants I have outside here and there had to be up righted and nursed a bit....just told them it was ok...and sorry things got so rough...gotta talk to our plants...let them know we love'm LOL...my mother always talked to her plants when she worked in the flower beds or in garden area....and her hens....how she chattered with them....and they talked back too...LOL...she said "they understand what you are saying"....and I said one day...well how come they don't listen to me??? they peck my feet??? she just smiled like she knew a secret and wasn't gonna tell me LOLOL. Funny how little memories like that keep cropping up in your mind huh???
Otherwise it was a beautiful day here...not quite so very hot...a nice cool breeze also...but I didn't get out much....had laundry to do...seems it never gets fully done....but today it did...but I am weary tonight...but nice to know that tomorrow I can relax...maybe get to Walmart????? LOL
Tomorrow is grandson Cameron's 9th birthday...we had his party last Saturday...a bowling party...it was fun....but he knows my present will be here for him tomorrow....he has baseball camp in the morning...so that will give me time to set it all up for when he gets home LOL...love to surprise the little feller...!!!!
just stopping in to say hello to everyone...and passing along a big hug to all......Ora
ps...just a few pics of the party boy!!!

Feeling Hopeful
I have returned...did you miss me???
Well I have returned to the land of "journaling"...this is the first step...and hopefully I can stick with it...after my "deleting" of earlier journal I was stymied as to what to say or how to start again....sometimes you just have to push that first step out...and hope that the other foot follows!!! I am back...one way or the other LOL...
School is out....we have lots going on with the two grands...volleyball camps for Chancey....All Star baseball for Cam...and many youngster here in late afternoon for swimming...the pool has paid for itself in pleasures, laughter, and good times.
We have finished the bathroom renovations...that is another story to tell....hubby has himself a nice garden going...tomatoes, squash, zucchini, green beans, onions, lettuce...(onions and lettuce we are already eating....lovely salads they do enhance)...and our topsy turvy tomatoes are blooming....and doing well...a fun thing to have....
The heat has arrived...burning brightly...temps high nineties...some breeze....but to be truthful we stay in during the afternoon...mornings and evenings are nice tho. Seems the price of gas is rising as fast as the temps????? $3.99 plus another 9 makes $4.00 a gallon...but to be honest...the price of gas has not altered our way of living...oh sure we cut out the "just to get out" drives...make others count...but we don't let it manage us...we still manage it. I think the thing that bothers me most is the prices of food, veggies, etc...outrageous is all I can say...$4.69 for a bag of small apples...you can be sure...they are all used....LOL...I even boiled the peelings...used it to add to apple cobbler!!!
Well I have rambled enough for the time being...gonna add a couple pics of the "sunsetting" in our back yard last night...was really very very pretty...actually the pictures do NOT do it justice...but I tried!!!
hugs all around....Ora

Feeling Silly
what does my name mean and/or say???
|
Enter Your First Name: Male Female
Ora
The name of Ora gives you a clever, quick, analytical mind, but you suffer with a great deal of self-consciousness, lack of confidence, and much aloneness because of misunderstandings. Your idealistic and sensitive nature gives you a deep appreciation for the finer things of life and a strong desire to be of service to humanity. There are times when you experience inner turbulence at your inability to say what you mean. It is far easier for you to express your deeper thoughts and feelings through writing than verbally. You find pleasure in literature, in poetry, and in your ideals and will turn to them when you feel you have been misunderstood. You are deeply moved by the beauties of life, especially nature. Because your feelings run deep, you must guard against the ups and downs, being very inspired one minute, then moody, reserved, and depressed the next. Your reactions to people vary according to how you feel. You tend to be secretive and noncommittal about private matters, yet at times you will talk effusively in order to hide your self-consciousness or to lead others away from personal subjects. You are inspired by encouragement from others, yet suspicious of their intent. You crave affection but seldom find anyone who understands your nature. Physical weaknesses would show in your heart, lungs, or bronchial organs
This pretty much tells about me....except for the physical weaknesses...got good heart...good lungs...and good Bronchial organs...now some other things are not so good LOL!!!!! |

Feeling Silly
Hearing to early in morning for music!!! or any noise!!
Do you remember? the clothes line??? I do!!
The Clothes Line
The clothes line....a dead give away. Do the kids today even know what a clothes line is? I am sure a lot of you are too young to remember the clothes line, but for all of us who are older, this will bring back the memories. . . .
THE BASIC RULES
1. You had to wash the clothes line before hanging any clothes. Walk the length of each line with a damp cloth around the line. 2. You had to hang the clothes in a certain order and always hung whites with whites and hang them first. 3. You never hung a shirt by the shoulders, always by the tail. What would the neighbors think? 4. Wash day on a Monday...........never hang clothes on the weekend or Sunday for heaven's sake! 5. Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your 'unmentionables' in the middle. 6. It didn't matter if it was sub zero weather.............clothes would 'freeze dry.' 7. Always gather the clothes pins when taking down dry clothes. Clothes pins left on the line was 'tacky'. 8. If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothes pins with the next washed item. 9. Clothes off of the line before dinnertime, neatly folded in the clothes basket and ready to be ironed. 10. IRONED?????????? Well, that's a whole other subject. A POEM A clothes line was a news forecast To neighbors passing by. There were no secrets you could keep When clothes were hung to dry. It also was a friendly link For neighbors always knew If company had stopped on by To spend a night or two. For then you'd see the 'fancy sheets' And towels upon the line; You'd see the 'company table cloths' With intricate design. The line announced a baby's birth To folks who lived inside As brand new infant clothes were hung So carefully with pride. The ages of the children could So readily be known By watching how the sizes changed You'd know how much they'd grown. It also told when illness struck, As extra sheets were hung; Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too, Haphazardly were strung. It said, 'Gone on vacation now' When lines hung limp and bare. It told, 'We're back!' when full lines sagged With not an inch to spare. New folks in town were scorned upon If wash was dingy gray, As neighbors carefully raised their brows, And looked the other way.. But clotheslines now are of the past For dryers make work less. Now what goes on inside a home Is anybody's guess. I really miss that way of life. It was a friendly sign When neighbors knew each other best By what hung on the line!
