Happy Howl-o-ween!!!!
I know... I know... I haven't written in ages. It was a busy summer. I got to stay with Blue and Gerdie when Lori & Ori went out of town. I got to go on hikes. I played in ponds. I acted like a dog!!!! I'm a dog I'm a dog!
So... Today I went with Blue, Gerdie, Andrew, & Lori to the Park City Howl-o-ween Dog Parade. Here are my pictures! Blue was dressed up as a pimp-- you've seen his picture before in my journal. Gerdie was dressed as a hula girl to show off her svelte figure! I was dressed as a sunflower. My costume was a tiny bit small so I didn't have to actually wear the hood but you can still see the flower pedals. If you notice there are lady bugs on my stem as well! Anyway, the parade was fun. We were all very excited on the car ride and Gerdie was barking up a storm at everyone! We kept trying to climb into the front seat with Andrew and Lori and they kept telling us no. This didn't make us happy so Blue and Gerdie whined and whined. Check out the pictures!

Strut Your Mutt
I had another great time at Strut Your Mutt this year. I was much more confident than last year and enjoyed meeting new people and new dogs! I was still hesitant... don't get me wrong... but it was still a lot of fun. I raised about $1700 and just sent out all my thank you notes today. So if you were kind enough to send me a donation know that your thank you is in the mail!
I think I was the top fundraiser again, but am happy to say I had more competition. Why does that make me happy? Because it means more people are raising more money and that's a good thing! I hope people start to pass me by and leave me in their fundraising dust.
I'm putting up some of my pictures from this year for you to check out. I hope you enjoy them. I enjoyed the sunny day and lots of treats!

Letters
I got this letter today:
Congratulations Ginger!
We are so proud of you for making the cover of the No More Homeless Pets newletter. Top donation giver; way to go! We too have already collected $1600.00 this year for our local humane societies. So I guess we are all big weiners.
Lots of Love,
Dooley and Bueller
Oh, and Mike and Laura too
Why? Because the same day I did Strut Your Mutt I got a letter in the mail. On the envelope was me! Ori and Lori were there too. Then inside was a little story about my fundraising efforts from last year. Lots of people we know have received this letter-- I know because I keep getting e-mails from people like the one above. So maybe if you know me and you donated to No More Homeless Pets in Utah at some point you'll get the letter too!
Who would have guessed it.
I'm happy to know I'm making a difference in the lives of so many dogs and cats by helping out.

Spring???
It is may and this morning I had snow snacks. Snow snacks, you ask? Yes... snow snacks! You know how much I love eating snow and when we woke up today there was an inch of snow on the ground. Yum! So even though it's may, and supposedly spring, I got to eat fresh snow. I'm hoping it doesn't rain or snow this Saturday during Strut Your Mutt but if it does we will be there anyway.
The weather has been rainy alot so I haven't been so interested in going out to practice my walking, but really I'm a pro at that so I'm not worried. Right now the weather says 71 degrees and isolated thunderstorms. Yikes! I hate the lightning and thunder! Hopefully if that happens it will be later in the day.
Blue and Gerdie are coming to stay with us on Friday night-- they'll just be here for one night this time. It should be an adventure since I recently stayed with them for 3 nights! I don't think Andrew knew what to do with three of us around. Don't worry-- we all wanted to get in that crate together. We had a party! If only I'd been able to bring some pita bread.... Oh well. Anyway, we'll have to pick up some of my toys because Blue is more of a chewer than I am and likes to pull out the inside of some of stuffed friends. But I am looking forward to a slumber party and keeping Ori and Lori up all night! I guess we should get some sleep since I have Strut Your Mutt the next day. I don't think we'll have enough hands for all of us to go (especially since Ori has to bring a TV camera) but I know Andrew is coming home Saturday morning so they shouldn't be too lonely.
Right now I should get off to bed and dream of more snow bears having pillow fights!

Spring is springing
I'm quite excited. Spring seems to have sprung! I am spending as much time as I can outside basking in the sun, but also running around getting exercise.
Yesterday a man from Fox 13 came and filmed me and Ori and Lori together romping and playing. It is for the Strut Your Mutt commercial for this year. I got to be in it because I was such a good fundraiser last year! Don't forget I'm trying to beat last year's fundraising total of $2000 and could really use your help. My goal this year is $3000 and so far I've only made it 1/10th of the way. You can help me out by donating on my donation page. All the money we raise will go to help end the euthanasia of healthy animals and help them find loving homes like mine! Please consider helping me out. Every dollar counts.
Spring also means my neighbor friend Colin is out and about and visiting me more. He's happy to have warmer weather also. He likes to ride his bike up and down the street. Sometimes he gives me treats!
Yeah! Spring! Sun basking! Romping! I love it.

Fashionista
What do you think of my new coat? Shall I move to New York? I'm such a fashionista, and I didn't even pick it!
My new jacket was a surprise gift from my new admirers, Nicole and Robert. They stayed with us for a few days at the end of skeleton season and then a couple of weeks ago I found a box in the mail! They found this beautiful new coat and a t-shirt that says "Love Me" and thought of me. So they sent them to me. And now I am the most fashionable dog in the neighborhood. (And very thankful for friends like them)
The jacket is reversible-- it is red nylon on one side with a plaid collar, and the plaid on the other with a white collar. I prefer the plaid side out because it's just so darn pretty. I know-- you're thinking "Dogs hate to wear clothes! Why are they making you do that?" WRONG! I love clothes. When I see a coat or shirt come out for me, I start doing a dance, jumping around, trying to jump straight into the garment. Don't feel bad for me. Like I said, I'm a fashionista! I love to wear clothes! Lori and Ori think it's silly too, but sometimes they let me just wear my clothes around the house since it makes me so happy.
So if you think you see a red-headed runway model walking down the streets of Park City it's probably just me. Ginger Hoffer. Resident Fashion Template.

I'm At It Again
Lori & Ori thought they wouldn't have to do it this year. They thought I'd forget, they could sleep in, and life would go on.
They're wrong!
Once again this year I am going to walk in Strut Your Mutt. Last year I was the top individual fundraiser raising $2000 (more than many teams!)- this year I want to beat that total and raise $3000. Won't you help?
Strut Your Mutt raises funds for No More Homeless Pets in Utah (www.utahpets.org) which works to end the euthanasia of healthy homeless dogs and cats. Sounds good, right? I think so since I was once a homeless dog myself but was lucky enough to be found by Utah Vizsla Rescue and then by Lori and Ori. I'm very grateful for the loving family I'm now part of and want to help other animals find loving homes of their own.
It's easy to donate to the cause. You can visit my fundraising website http://active.com/donate/strutyourmutt2005/GingerTheVizsla and do it all there! Checks are accepted too-- contact me for details.
If you enjoy reading my adventures please consider donating. It's one way I can give back and help support those who haven't been as lucky as me.
Thank you Thank you!!!

Thawing Out
Spring is in the air. I know this because I find myself constantly wanting to go outside and then wanting to come back in. There's not nearly so much snow in my yard for my snacking pleasure. The mulch is visible and relatively dry meaning I can lay in it and bask in the sun until I realize "Hey- it's still kind of cold out here." There are lots of holes showing up out in the preserve and I, along with Blue and Gerdie, am on the hunt for the things that live underground. There is still snow around but much of it has melted... for now. The thing is spring in Park City means we could easily have another snow storm or two. And really, that would be ok. The snow is fun to play in, yummy to eat, and helps us refill out scarce water supplies here in the mountain desert where we've been in multiple years of drought.
Of course, I'm most worried about just playing in it! But I'll be glad when it's warmed and I can spend more time basking in the sun as well. Ahhh... basking. One of my favorite activities. I can't wait.

Curses. Foiled again.
Well, I thought it was the perfect plan. I've gained their trust so well that they finally slipped up. Alas, my overall plan was foiled!
Food on the kitchen floor is for me! They drop things and I get to eat them. So this must be for me. Noone's around...
Hmmm... what's in here? Let's see... a box. That doesn't smell very good. Another box. What are Triscuits, anyway?
Ohhh... this looks good. It says "cocktail rye." Let me just pull this out. OH! And what's in the baggy? Pita bread! Whole wheat... mmm....
*Rip Tear Chomp Chomp Chomp* Mmmmm! This pita bread is good! I think I'll eat the whole bag! How nice of them to leave this for me. I love the kitchen!!! Yummy.... let me bring this to the living room where I can get comfy and eat some more. Mmmm... yummmm.... pita is my new best friend. Yummmmmmmm....... Ugggggg.... I'm a little thirsty and full. Better have some water.
*Lap lap lap lap lap* Hmmm... now I'm REALLY full. I better put this other bag of pita and rye away for later.
Let me see... this rye... where can I put it? No.. not there... nope... hmm... I know! Under the desk in the office! Noone will think to find it there.
And this other pita. Hmm... this is very tasty. I better hide it well. Here... no.... what about... that won't work...
I know! I'll put it in the back corner of my crate and then cover it with my blankets! Noone will look there, I can watch it carefully, and then next time Blue, Gerdie, Scout, Trooper, Summit, or my other friends come I can be a true hostess and offer up yummy pita! Yes... that's the plan. I will gently arrange my blankets on top of it in the corner so noone finds it. I'm a crafty girl.
Hi Lori! You're home! Oh... yes... I found the pita. Thank you. Notice I didn't eat the bag, just what was in it.
What are you looking for? Oh... I see you found the rye bread. Yes... I was saving that. What? It isn't for me?
What are you looking for now? Why are you looking under the bed? And under the chair? And in the closet? Maybe I can help you find what you want.
Oh... no... nothing is in my crate. Nothing but the pita you left me. Wait... why are you taking the pita? Wasn't that for me? Hmmm... I guess I'll have to go shopping for my pooch soiree afterall....
I'll never understand these people. Leaving me good food and then taking it back. How silly....
I hope I get more pita soon!
