My Cockatiels

Well this past February, I got me a female cockatiel. We name her Crash, because when she tried to fly, she crashed in the floor. She is a sweet bird. She was almost two years when I first got her, at a pet store. Well, my husband liked her so much, that he went and got me a male cockatiel, for my birthday. I name him Sunshine, because of his yellow head. I found out that the male cockatiel is friendlier than the female though. Well, they get along great together. About a month ago, they had four babies, well, all of them died except one...so, I started handfeeding him, and he tumbled off of the counter top and broke his neck. I was in chat one day with Jub and Jan, and I got up to feed the baby, and when I went to get him out..he was dead. I felt so sad....I'm still disappointed over it. Well, these birds already started up again..so before too long, Crash will end up pregnant again...lol. If anyone has any questions about my birds...please feel free to ask.

What Education Means to Me

I am a person that believes in education. I went twelve years of school, plus 2 years of college, and I am also attending college at home right now, studying business management, I am in my third year right now. College is hard, but it takes alot of time and studying. I also have a kindergartener at home, and I help him every night with his writing and reading. I also have a little girl that is in headstart, and they teach them to write their names, so we are practicing on that. I also have two step-children that is in high school...9th and 10th grade. The one that is in the 9th grade had a poster to do last night, so I helped him with that, and tonight he is studying on the State Map with abbreviations...9 weeks test this week. So, just in my house hold their is alot of education going on.

I feel like everyone needs to get their education. That is what it takes these days to have a good job. I feel like everyone should go all the way through high school to get their diploma, and then go on to college, and get a degree in what they love doing. I understand that their are some people that does not take school very seriously...like my oldest stepson, he wanted to goof off and not pass or anything, so he failed 9th grade and then when he went back to school after the summer, he did the same thing...he got where he wouldn't come home or anything, because he knew that we was going to make him study, well after he had to spend some time in Juvenile and then had to go to Job Corp, just to keep him from having to go back to Juvenile. Well, now he tells me all the time that he wish that he would listend to me about studying and stuff..well he spent 9 months in Job Corp and he earned his GED, but he still wishes that he would have finished high school. He is doing good now, building houses, but their are better jobs out there..and believe me, I am working toward one of those jobs...lol. My husband wants me to finish my schooling and start making more money than he does right now, so he can get into woodwork all the time..because believe it or not...he makes more money doing woodwork than he does working 55 hours a week. Everybody needs an education....it get's tough, it get's hard...but you can survive it. I have...even by helping all of these kids here...they come first, and when they are all in bed...that is when I study..I would be now, if my other school books was in...I took my last test in my last class today..and made a 90 on it. I made an overall average of an 88 for that class..which is good, but I could have done better.

Well, that is enough on education righ now...lol. Let me say this one thing...DJ is also taking college at home..she is in Medical Transcriptionist. That is enough tonight..talk to you all later. Goodnite!

What The Holiday's Means To Me

Hello everyone! I am sorry, I have not wrote anything all weekend, but I have been busy. I finally got me a car Saturday and we went to Laurel Saturday Night. Yesterday it rained all day, which we needed it..so I am glad that it did rain.

Today I am going to talk about what the holiday's means to me. It is that time of the year again. Well, Halloween is just a few weeks away. Halloween is the enjoyment for kids. They love the scary noises, the witches, the ghosts..they love to dress up scary and most of all...THEY ENJOY THE CANDY! Even though these days you will have to check the candy, to make sure there is nothing in it to that will harm the child or adult. You got to be really careful.

Thanksgiving: Next month is November, can you all believe that? Thanksgiving is spending time with family and friend. Being thankful for what you have, and what you have accomplished this year.

Christmas: Well, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love being woke up in the mornings, by my kids telling me that it is time to open the presents. Telling me that they had been good that Santa brought them alot of gifts. Just watching them opening their presents will put a smile on your face. They also love to help decorate the tree, and rest of the house. We go all out on decorating our house for the holiday's. Our live tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving...every year.

Well, I guess that is it for the day. I have things that I need to do before it is time to go and pick up kids from school. Hope you all have a nice day.

Good Morning Everyone

Good Morning everyone. It is 8:10am here this morning, and I have been sitting at this computer since 7am. Usually I am sleeping at this time, because I always go back to bed, once I get get kids off to school. So, I am not all here right now..lol.

Anyway, since this is the month of Halloween, I am going to write about some of my Halloween's while I was at a kid.

Really the only time that I could celebrate Halloween is when I was with my mom or my aunt and uncle. There was sometimes, that we would just pass out candy. But most of the time I would end up going with my cousin Tammy. We would go to the nursing home, and it always made me feel good, because all of the patiets there was always smiling and very happy to be passing out candy. After we would leave there, we would go to the subdivision and walk around, look at the scary decorations and get candy...lol. Well, now we take our kids to the same places, and nothing has changed...lol. I enjoy taking them, the only thing is now....we have to check the candy real good, before the kids even get to enjoy it. There is so much going on now....that people puts things in Halloween Candy...that is so awful.

Well, I guess I will go for now. Ask me questions..I am running out of things to write about...lol.

Have a nice day!

My baby cockatiel

Today is a sad day for me. I went to feed the  baby bird a few minutes ago, and he was dead. My heart sunked. The baby bird was 3 weeks old. After all of the other baby birds died, I started handfeeding this one, which I did for two weeks. Now, he is gone. I have grew so attached to the baby bird, by just getting it and handfeeding it. He seemed so happy...I talked to him, he sat on my desk alot of times, while I was on the computer, which that is what I was going to do today during chat...but instead I had to take him outside and buried him. Well, you know what kind of day I am having now.

Talk later!

Hobby Club Meeting

Hello again! Well today was the hobby club meeting that we have the first Tuesday of every month. We got together ate a salad for lunch and worked on our crafting. Jan brought me a software to put on my computer, so she showed me the basic steps in that and then we got on doing our crafting. Jan sorted through pictures to put in her scrapbook, Joanna did her painting, Shay did her embroidering, and I worked some on a picture frame that I will put together as soon as I get done on the computer. We really had a great time..which we always do. While they was here, I got a phone call from a guy about a car, and hopefully we will have the money for a down payment Thursday or Friday. I just emailed my uncle to see if he would loan me some money and I promised to pay him back, but I don't know if he will or not. I hope he does, and if so, my husband has informed me that I will have to get a job...lol. Which it doesn't matter to me, because we could use the extra money.

Well that is about all that is going on right now. If I think of something else I will put it in another journal entry.

I appreciate everyone reading my journal..if you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Cathy

My Hobbies

I am not feeling to good today, so I might have some several misspelled words today. If I do, I am sorry.

Anyway, when I was about 8 or 9 years old, my grandmother and  my mom got me hooked on xx-stitch. For a while, I did the stamp kind, and then I eventually got into learning the counted kind. Until this day, I still do some xx-stitching. Not as much as I use to, before I had kids, but I still do a little bit. Shay, I haven't forgotten to do that one thing for you, I just haven't got the stuff yet to do it in. I will get to it eventually!

My grandmother use to paint ceramics also, so I got involved in doing that too. I have not done it in a long time though.

I love to paint by numbers and frame what I have done. I have not done that in a while, but maybe one day I will start back up.

I love to play games. I am on the computer playing pogo all the time, because I have no one here at home to play games with me. They are all involved doing their own things.

When I was about 21 years old. I had a real good friend that lived in Memphis, when I was living there. She still lives there, but in West Memphis now. Anyway, she was working on a "Merry Christmas" Banner and I really liked it, so she gave me some canvas and showed me how to cut it out and then she showed me how to do the stitching and all of that. Til this day...that is one thing that I am still at. I just finished a baby tissue holder last Thursday, I believe it was. I am also getting ready to put a shadow box picture frame together. I have not gotten any batteries for my camera, but I will try to find some today or tell my hubby to bring some home with him. Anyway my christmas tree is always decorated in my homemade ornaments that I do. I have alot of plastic canvas ornaments and several of the xx-stitch ornaments. The only thing that is not homemade is the lights and the garland. I will definetly take some pics of my tree after Thanksgiving.

I also do latch hooking. I have done several things in latch hooks, but I have basically gave most of them away for presents. I have not done any of that in a while. If I findone around here I will post it also.

I love movies. We got movies rented right now, that we picked up Saturday night..it is Walking Tall and Mean Girls. The last movies that we seen was Man on Fire...Gosh I forgot the other two...lol. I will think about it and let you know.

Also, my hubby and I have gotten into fish. There are 8 freshwater aquariums in this trailer. We have 4 in the living room, two in our room, one in Terany's room and one in Zack's room. We also have a 55 gallon saltwater aquarium. Unfortuantely though, our neigbor next door was working on our tank last night and it killed the starfish, cleaner shrimp and our blue damsel. But he told my hubby to do a test on the tank when he get's home and if everything looked good, then he was going to bring us some fish home...free of charge to us. Our neighbor owns a pet store, and he has alot of fish at his house also.

Birds....I have two cockatiels. They had four babies all together. Unfortunately 3 died and one is still living. I am handfeeding it right now. It is about 3 weeks old. It can not be still...lol. He is always moving.

Well, I think I have said enough today...I am going to let you all go. If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free to ask.

Cathy

My Busy Week

Sorry I haven't wrote lately, but this past week has been really busy for me. I went to Hattiesburg with my aunt 3 days this week. They are having their kitchen, dining room and hallway floors redone, and their kitchen cabinets redone, so I have been going with her to pick out their counter tops, flooring and the paint color. She also ended up getting her a dishwasher and a new sink. I wish I could get both of them...lol, especially the dishwasher. Rest of the time, I was trying to get caught up answering emails, going to school meetings and handfeeding my baby cockatiel. He is sitting on my desk right now....lol. Anway, I was suppose to went to a babyshower yesterday for my cousin, which I did not get to, because I didn't have a way. Last night my husband and I went to the auction, came back by walmart and then we got home around 1:30 this morning. Today I have a sick headache, so I am just going to take it easy today. I hope I didn't bore anyone to bad. Chat with you all later.

One of my Favorite Birthday Parties

Well, I had a couple of favorite birthday party, but this is the one that hangs on in my thoughts. Well, anyway, we was in a fellowship meeting, in Brookhaven, MS. Me and a great friend of mine shared a birthday in the same month, and two days apart. Well, this happened to be on my birthday night, so after church that night, we all went to Shoney's like we usually did. Well, everything was going so well, well all of a sudden, Amanda and I started hearing clapping and they was coming to our table. I had worked at Shoney's during the summer, so I knew what was up..but it was really embarrasing to both us, we was both shocked....the free hot fudge cake was good though...lol. By the way, that was my 18th birthday party. There was about five different church groups there that night...and it was just so embarrasing. BTW Shay..I am talking about Amanda Graves. We was great friends when we was going to church together.

Hope you all have a great day. Talk to you all later.

Benefit for my uncle

Good morning everyone. I didn't get the chance to write in my journal yesterday, so here I am to write about my day yesterday.

Well 4 weeks ago from this past Friday, my Uncle Larry had to have a liver transplant. The procedure went very well and he was doing so good that they let him come home 2 weeks earlier than planned. He has to go back Friday Oct. 1, 2004 for his first checkup since he left there.

Yesterday was my first time seeing him since the procedure, but he is doing really well, his color is back (His skin was turning a yellowish color before he had the surgery). He said, that he was still sore, but that was to be expected.

Anyway yesterday, they had a benefit for him at the Multi-Purpose Center here in Collins. They had an auction, they were selling plate lunches, and was suppose to had a band, but since the crowd was really slim, they didn't go through all of that. But it was really a nice cause.

Get this, there was a Steve McNair Football that was sold for $310.00. All of the proceeds went to Larry for his medical expenses. I am not sure how much was raised yesterday, but I know it was pretty good. I will post it later, if I find out.

Well, I will talk to everyone later. Have a nice Day.

Cathy
