Subject: Chihuly Bridge of Glass
Time: 4:07:00 PM EDT
Author:  photographybymon

I've been holding on to some photographs, just waiting for the "right" opportunity to share them.  Now that I have re-opened my photo journal I have the opportunity to share them and absolutely no reason is needed! :-)

The following photos were taken on the Chihuly Bridge of Glass that crosses over the interstate and connects downtown Tacoma with our waterfront.  There are three sections of glass displays on the bridge (a pedestrian bridge).  The photos I'm sharing today are from the south facing Venetian wall.  Due to it facing south it gets light all the time and at night it has lights that illuminate the vases.  I've yet to get there at night, it is on my to do list. :-)

Here at the Venetian wall you will find 109 glass sculptures created by the world famous Dale Chihuly who was born and raised right here in Tacoma, WA.  The wall is home to some of the largest blown glass works executed in the history of blown glass.

If you ever get to the Seattle area, I highly recommend taking a short drive to view this bridge.  Ask nicely I might even offer to give you a tour of the area! ;-)

"This will be the gateway that welcomes people to Tacoma.  We wanted something unique in the world, something that has a lot of color, a joyous experience, night or day"  -Chihuly

In a future entry I willshare some close up photos of some of the sculptures shown here.  What I did this time was take a series of photos each one shows a different area of the wall. This was done in attempt to show the size and the number of creations shared in this one location.
