With the wedding photography, I strive to capture the emotion of the day. That I can do! With landscapes, I struggle to capture the essence, especially in black and white. Despite the difficulty of this challenge for me, I decided to try. Here is my attempt at landscapes in black and white in the for fun category.

When I think of black and white landscapes I think Ansel Adams. When I look at his work, I'm inspired and yes, I'll admit to being intimidated. His photographs are always moving and stir the soul within.
I was about to pass on this weeks AOL Photo Challenge: Landscapes in Black and White.

Monica, both of your images are real accomplishments, but the first one blows me away! Great job.

I had to laugh when I read this, I feel exactly as you do on this. I also almost passed up this challenge -- been super busy with no time to play with photos or go on new shoots. Ansel Adams is the frist I think of too for this one and he's the one who made me realize photography is much more than snapshots. Intimidated is a good choice of words here when we're thinking in Ansel's terms!! I threw one in last minute just for fun for the challenge. I decided not to stress over it and just take the first photo I had on file that I came to that I thought would be good in black and white. You did a wonderful job here with your photos Monica! Martha :-)
