It's almost over...
.....it's almost over.....it's almost over.....
What's the date today again? Only 3 more games you say? I can do it - really I can!
Last night was cheerleading practice. Once a week. On Monday. From 5:30-7. We arrived at 5:25 and only a few people were there. I couldn't BELIEVE how many mother's just dropped their daughter's off. There was not a coach in sight. But, that's not unusual....because, you know, coach doesn't get there 'til 5:35. Still, Princess is one of the oldest on the squad and she's 10 and these mother's just dropped their kids off. And we practice in the grass, so the building's not even open to get to a phone should something go wrong. I waited. And waited. 5:45 and still no coach. One of the mom's (you know, one who had also volunteered to coach because she had cheered all the way through high school) started warming the girls up. I did that a few times last year and this year I just wasn't in a nice enough mood last night. At 5:45 I told Princess it was time to leave (although let's face it - with somebody else running practice it probably would have been better!!). I talked to one of the other mom's today and coach rolled in at 6:00 just when she was getting tired of waiting and was getting her daughter into the car. No apology for being late and it sounds like she didn't even talk to any of the mother's that were there. Guess I'll hear at the game tonight......But really, what about those girls who just got dropped off? What if something would have happened! I guess those other mother's were nicer than me 'cause there was NO way I was going to hang around!
Game tonight. I think I'll have a beer or two with dinner and maybe the steam won't be coming out of my ears by the time I get to the field!

I sure hope that there was at least someone else there to watch the kids. If not then that wasn't very responsible of those parents. When I was in the sixth grade I had to walk from my house to Number 16 school which was pretty far away. Number 19 school wasn't that far from my house, but it was near the end of the school year so I couldn't transfer back. My mom never gave me a ride there, and the school never tried to get me on a bus. Now that I think about it, I was lucky that nothing ever happened to me.
