Feeling Surprised

We were Wrong

We went to the free dinner but not before listening to the seminar speaker. It wasn't about health insurance or vitimins and minerals but about magnetic therapy. The man was selling matresses with magnets in them and they are suppose to be good for everything but someone with a pacemaker and one other thing which I don't remember. He was a good fast speaker and no high pressure. The meal was a very large chicken fried steak, baked potato, salad and iced tea. Now we know.

Pete and I used to go to those come look at our property things to get the free prizes.  A couple of them worked like they were supposed to.  We got  a free ceiling fan!  A couple of others gave certificates to mail for your prize, then they'd expect you to pay shipping.  BAD. Anyway, we gave up that pursuit.  A couple of years later, these companies had been sued for false advertising and I suppose they used a list of everyone who had visited because we got a check in the mail and never lifted a finger!!!!!  Mail fraud I think it was.  Wasn't a lifechanging size check, but worth much more than any of the old prizes.  That was in our young earlly before children years of marriage. -  Barbara

I guess in that situation you could have eaten quickly, said: Sorry, we both have pacemakers.  And left. ~Mary

Oh well, the meal sounds good anyway.  Did he get any takers?

I have some of those things with magnets built in that you strap on...legs, arms, back or whatever. Have had them so long I forgot about them. Maybe I should drag them out when this sciatic nerve acts up. Got a feeling that won't be long as it doesn't take much to make that happen. Hope the meal was good:)........alice

I do know a man who swears by his little magnetic things he adorns himself with but I've never heard of a magnetic mattress.  At least you got a (hopefully good) meal and weren't pressured to buy one.
