Since the launch of AOL 9.0 in 2004, images and links received from unknown senders have been disabled. In May 2007, our web mail service was enhanced to disable images from unknown senders. Last week, our newest web mail product, Goa, was released. This WebSuite release completes the process by disabling links from unknown senders. Our aim is to provide our members with consistent safety features across all AOL applications.

Ditto on the last error - "This message could not be displayed. If possible, please ask the sender to resend. If the problem persists, please contact customer support."
Anyone have any ideas why this would happen? The same email worked fine on yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc...? -
We received the following error message on emails sent on 4/22 and 4/24 via AOL Web Mail only. "This message could not be displayed. If possible, please ask the sender to resend. If the problem persists, please contact customer support." Lots of AOL customers called us about the problem, but now we can't replicate so we don't know if it is a problem with our HTML code or if it was a problem at AOL.
Has anyone seen this error message? We need to know the cause so that we can fix the problem.
Thanks

One commenter wanted to know how to enable links and images by default. If you are using the AOL client, instructions on changing the default can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/6mp8bo. If you are using AOL Webmail, log into your account, and at the top right is a link for "settings". The links and images controls are under "General Settings".
It has also been communicated to me that my usage of "unknown sender" was unclear. In the context of the above post, an unknown sender is a sender who is unknown to the recipient of the email: the sender is not in the recipient's address book.

The automatic disabling of links is an absolute disaster for any serious user. The number of clicks I need to repeat because of you and Vista, has now gone up by an order of magnitude. This costs me time and money. Every time I click on the enable link reminds me why I need to get off aol.

I have antivirus and antispam controls running in the background all the time, so the feature is pointless.
If the feature was added to "protect" children, then AOL has joined the parade of businesses that, in the hysterical climate that prevails in this country, have dumbed-down all sorts of products.
