Rules for Life

Quiet

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

2. Don't worry about what people think, they don't do it very often.

3. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car.

4. Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.

5. If you must choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before.

6. Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

7. A person, who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.

8. For every action, there is an equal and opposite government program.

9. If you look like your passport picture, you probably need the trip.

10. Bills travel through the mail at twice the speed of checks.

11. A conscience is what hurts when all of your other parts feel so good.

12. Eat well, stay fit, die anyway.

13. Men are from earth. Women are from earth. Deal with it.

14. No man has ever been shot while doing the dishes.

15. A balanced diet is a muffin in each hand.

16. Middle age is when broadness of the mind and narrowness of the waist change places.

17. Opportunities always look bigger going than coming.

18. Junk is something you've kept for years and throw away three weeks before you need it.

19. There is always one more imbecile than you counted on.

20. Experience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

21. By the time you can make ends meet, they move the ends.

22. Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.

23. Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world.

24. It ain't the jeans that make your bum look fat.

25. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

26. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them.

27. You should not confuse your career with your life.

28. Never lick a steak knife.

29. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

30. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

31. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you cansee an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

32. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that deep down inside we ALL believe we are above average drivers.

Getting to Know Your Friends

Happy | Kelly Clarkson~Grown up Christmas List

Welcome to the 2007 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know Your Friends!

You know the drill. Please Cut and Paste.

Don't be a Scrooge!!!

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate?

Egg Nog in small doses...and I love hot chocolate when it's cold outside with marshmellows.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?

The gig is up at our house and the kids have known for a while now that Jason and me are "Santa" and we both wrap them.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?

Colored lights

4. Do you hang mistletoe?

  Yes...I have one hanging now.

5. When do you put up your decorations?

It usually depends...this year I put them up the day after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?

We have so many good ones...it's hard to pick just one.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child:

The whole family (there is about 100 of us) all going to my grandparents house and having a feast and just be with each other. We do this just about every year.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?

When I was about 6 my dad had my uncle dress up in a Santa suit and he came in the house, but I regonized him right away. I did however let my parents think I didn't have a clue.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?

We usually let the kids open a small one on Christmas Eve and then the rest on Christams Day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree?

This year I did silver and burgandy ornaments with silver garland and a burgandy bow at the top.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it?

Never seen it! :(

12. Can you ice skate?

I attempted it at one point but couldn't stay on my feet long enough to do any skating.
13. Do you remember your favorite gift?

My Lite Brite...I loved that thing and would sit in the dark in my room and play with it.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?

Spending time with the ones I love.

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

My granny's pecan pie...mmmm!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Loading up in the car and driving around and looking at all the lights at different houses.

17. What tops your tree?

Big Burgandy Bow

18. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?

I love giving and seeing their faces...receiving isn't bad either Lol.
19. What is your favorite Christmas Song?

Silent Night

20. Candy Canes?

Yes

21. Do you feel Christmas is too commercialized? Or Is it still magical for you?

I do feel that over the years it has become too comercialized, but it's how you yourself feel about it and keep in mind the real reason we have Christmas. It's not all about Santa Clause and stockings...it's about Jesus' birth.

Kaylie's First Date

Happy | X-box

This Friday night Kaylie went on her first date ever. We had him and his parents over to our house for us all to meet before we decided on if she could date this boy. It went really well and he is a very good kid.Heis 17 and a senior in high school. They all attend church regulaly are really grounded people. So Friday night they went to see Fred Claus and then went and bowled. She was home by curfew and I was very proud of her. She needs to be able to do things without me at her side all the time. She is growing up and the other night while I was helping her get ready I realized that she's not a little girl anymore. Saturday night Kaylie went to his house to meet his parents and have dinner. She was really nervous about meeting them, but it went really well and she had fun.

School, Geckos and Doctors...Oh My!

Anxious | Tracy Lawrence~For the Love

The past couple weeks haven't been to eventful. It's pretty much the same thing everyday. The kids got their report cards last week. Bekah made honor roll and Jay made perfect attendance Kaylie is home schooled so she doesn't get hers yet. I am going in for a conference today with Jay's teacher to discuss his behavior in school. He hasn't been doing well this past week. He keeps telling me that kids are picking on him and he tells the teacher and she doesn't believe him because the kids picking on him are the "good students" in the class. I will definitely be having a talk about that with her though. I also am worried he may have ADD or some other learning disability. I work with him for 2 hours yesterday on one division worksheet. I went step by step with him on nine of the problems and then told him to do the next one on his own and he couldn't do it. It's like he hears what I'm telling him but it's just not sinking in or something. My husband said he had ADD when he was a kid so I don't know if it's genetic or not. I think I'm going to ask them to test him and see. I don't think it's ADHD because he's no more hyper than any other typical 10 year old boy. He just has trouble focusing and when you explain something to him he seems to be off in his own world. I try not to get frustrated with him, but it's not easy. Hopefully the school and I can figure out a solution because he's only going to continue to get further behind in his work.

Yesterday evening I sent Jay to go get his shower as I do everyday around 5pm. I have a schedule that I like to stick to. Homework when you come home, snack, play and then bath time at 5:00, dinner at 6:30 and bed time is @ 8:00. Anyway he goes in to get his shower and he was looking in the mirror and came busting out of the bathroom yelling about something that was pink and striped on the wall. I was like this bot is messing with me(he can be quite the little jokester) so I took the bait and went to go see. There was a Gecko on the wall and it was pink and striped, very pretty I thought. Still didn't want to touch it or it to touch me, but pretty nonetheless...Lol. He won't go back in the bathroom to get his shower and I can't say that I blame him because I wouldn't have either so Kaylie and I grab up some stuff to catch the thing. I have a broom in one hand a pot holder on my other hand and Kaylie has a shoe box fitted with holes. I gently poke the little guy to try and coax him down and you can imagine how that went. He jumps onto the floor me and Kaylie go to screaming and it run and hides under the bath mat. I pull back the bath mat and pick it up with the pot holder(which wasn't easy) and put him in the shoe box and close it. He was safely in the box and scared to death I'm sure. We left him in there until Jason got home so he could see it and then let him loose in the flower bed. I don't know if he was someone's escaped pet or if it was wild. I had never seen one other than in a pet store and on the Geico commercials. Which the kids had fun with saying the Geico stuff all night. It was the highlight of the day and a first for me.

Last Tuesday I went to my doctor appointment to discuss my surgery. It was scheduled for Dec. 13 and they said they would call me to set up the pre-op appointment. Well today was they called. So I go for my pre-op on Dec.12th and then the surgery the next day. I have to be at the hospital by 11am and she told me that it's inpatient and I will stay in the hospital for 2-3 days. That I'm a little stressed about. I have three kids that have to be looked after and cared for and my husband works constantly. My mom said she would help as much as she could with picking the kids up and Kaylie will help get them off to school for me. Jason has to leave for work way before they have to be at school, so he can't take them. Jason was talking about taking his vacation early so he could be there to do all the stuff I normally do. I really don't want himto have to use his vacation for that. We had planned to go see Renea (my bff for 17 yrs) and her new husband David in Georgia where they live :(  in January, but if he takes his vacation in Dec then he won't get another one for 6 months. And I really wanted to see my friend and I know she wanted to see me. I haven't told her this yet so hopefully I can tell her before she reads this. So of course I'm stressing over this whole thing and wondering if it's just too much of a hassle for everyone and I shouldn't even do it and just forget it. I just hate putting other people out for me, it bugs me for some reason. So that's my news for today. I hope ya'll are all having a good week.

Halloween Pix

Happy

Here are the pictures from the other night. The kids made out like bandits. Brenda aka Xomywayox came over with Victoria and we all went together. We had a blast and then went to Micky D's afterwards and got some food. After we got home the kids were tuckered out and went to bed. It was a good night. I hope everyone had a good Halloween! Have a great weekend!

Sweet 16 and Halloween

Chillin'

Another weekend has come and gone. The first time in a long time that I was glad to see Monday. Saturday was Kaylie's Sweet 16 party.  I was a little apprehensive about how it would go but it went really well. Everyone got along and had a blast. Kaylie was happy and that's what was important. We had cake,  a pinata and pin the tail on the donkey(intended more for the little ones) and horses. Sunday we went to church and lunch then came home washed the cars and watched the football game. It was a busy exhausting weekend for all of us.

Today when the kids got home from school we went shopping...for Halloween costumes. Yeah I'm the queen of procrastination and if it were a job I'd be rich. The kids could not make up their minds for love nor money. I now know how my husband feels when he shops with me. I will never put him through that torture again. They would pick a costume then see something else that caught their eye and want to change it. Finally I said pick something or we will go home I'll put a sheet on your heads and you can be ghost. Needless to say they made up their minds real fast...Lol. So 70 bucks and 2 hours later Bekah is going as a cheerleader, Jay a army guy, and Kaylie just a painted up face and funky hat. I'll post pictures later in the week.

I guess that's it for now. I'm off to go cook dinner, the natives are getting restless. Be safe tomorrow night. Happy Halloween!

Life and All that Comes with It

Frustrated | No music today

Well the weekend has come and gone, it always flys by. We all went to church Sunday morning and afterwards came home and changed and headed to the park to see Kaylie's bio-mom and brother and the rest. Well her brother from her dad's(they have diff. moms but same dad) side also came and his wife. The ones she spent the night off with on Friday night. Well we were all there talking and  her bio-mom and brother(they have the same mom but diff dads)gave her her gifts for her upcoming birthday. We all stayed for about 2 hours and all went our ways. Everyone had a good visit with each other, so we thought. Kaylie gets a message from her bio-mom last night saying that she hurt her and her brothers feelings because she wasn't paying them as much attention as she thought she should have been.

Well I have went over the day in my mind and Kaylie was just as talkative to them as anyone else that was there. It's all over jealousy because they are jealous of Kaylie's brother(from her dads side)because she has gotten to spend some time with them lately. And by spend time I mean one sleep over. The reason why she has is because he has been looking for her for 10 years and just found her so they are trying to get to know each other and connect like a brother and sister should. It's all a mess and Kaylie is having a party on Saturday and they were all invited before this whole ordeal happened and so now we both are on edge wondering what to expect from them, if they even show up. So that's my situation on this lovely Tuesday. I know it might be a little confusing as to who everyone is but I even get confused about it sometimes Lol.  I just don't think her bio-mom and brother need to be jealous and put this on a 16 year olds shoulders. They should be more mature about it. Maybe I'm wrong , but it's how I feel.

Okay on to a happier note. Besides the other I mentioned everything else is good. Jason and the kids are doing great. I'm doing ok myself. I received a call from my doctor today. They want me to come in  Nov. 6 and have a talk with them about the hysterectomy. It hasn't been scheduled yet. For those that don't know I have what they call uterine prolapse, so therefore I have to have the hysterectomy. Just the uterus and cervix not the rest. I'm 29 but had my tubes tied at 24 so I'm not having anymore children and this surgery would help me out alot. It isn't the best feeling in the world let me tell ya. They also gave me a prescription for Detrol that I have to take once a day for my bladder issue. I'm just anxious to get the surgery done and over with so I can get back to normal, though I'm not sure what  normal feels like anymore.

I'm off here for now. I have the repair man coming to look at my leaking fridge and the kids will be home soon. Hope everyone's having a good week so far. Bye for now!

Catching Up...

Quiet | Colbie Caillat ~ Bubbly

Well it's been almost a year since I last wrote and quite a bit has happened since then. We are still in the same house though and Jason still works for the same company, they just transferred him yet again back in January, but that's another entry for another day. My little sister has been living with us for a month now and that's going really good. She will be  16 in eight days. I think she has adjusted well and is happier and more relaxed. I don't know how long that will last though, she is a teenager hehe. And this is my first rodeo with a, so I may need some advice in the future from ya'll that have teenagers. She has started talking a little more with her biological family under mine and Jason's supervision of course. I still have some reservations about some of them, but not all. Either way I'm happy she is where she is.

What else...Jay was in little league earlier this year. The season ended in June and he had a blast. Jason and I had just as much if not more fun watching him play than he did playing. Not being biased or anything but for this being his first year he was good. He was pitcher and catcher and he does good at both. We plan on signing him up again next season as long as his grades stay good. I have pics I will put up...I just got to through another site or something. Aol journals has changed a little since I was last here.

We have a new (not new to us) dog. She is a German Shepard named Bella Grace and is 10 months old on Monday. She was one from my brother's dog's litter of nine. She was born a few days before Christmas last year. I was there and helped deliver some of them. It was quite exciting!

The house is quiet now. Jason is at work and Jay is off at his Nana's for the night. Kaylie is staying off for the night, so it's just me and mini me here. We are having a meeting at the parkon Sunday after church with Kaylie's uncle, brother and bio-mom. I am a little nervous and anxious about it, but hopefully it will go okay. It's been a little while since she has seen them.

Well I guess that's all for now. I'm going to try to keep writing and not be gone so long. Things can get crazy busy around here sometimes. I hope ya'll have a good weekend!
