Feeling Happy
I met Linda, today!!
Linda and I spent a nice afternoon talking over an In-N-Out burger and a nice breeze.
I got to know alot more about who this beautiful lady is!! I also got to meet Bob and his daughter, very nice people, too. I have pics to share, but AOL is NOT being cooperative. I will try to post them later.... here, don't know how to do that on blogger yet.
The first thing I noticed about Linda is her friendly smile... she's very warm, and we talked comfortably about our lives, past and present.
I think I forgot to tell Linda how beautiful both hers and Bob's eyes were.... eyes are not usually among the first things I notice, but it's hard NOT to see that they both have very nice smiling blue eyes.
I look forward to meeting her again soon... maybe after her cruise.

Feeling Betrayed
I read it, but didn't want to believe it!!
J-land will be NO MORE!!!!
My first thought was to hurry up and copy each entry, one by one, into my computer documents to print and save.... I'll also save them in my computer.
Then I thought... wait, I have to say good-bye to everyone... I have to comment to everyone and tell them how much I'm going to miss them, and make sure they all know how much I love them, and how much meaning they've brought into my life.
I know this month is going to be a very emotional one here in j-land, but I'm certain that we will stay in touch, we're friends... no, we're FAMILY!!!
I do hope you all know how much you mean to me, and I hope that you WILL stay in touch. I WILL be a little busy copying two years of journaling into a file to keep, so if I'm not around much, know that I will stay in touch because you are all so important to me, and I will truly miss reading your blogs.... please link me if you open a new blog somewhere.
Love and Friendship Always,
Joann

Feeling Enlightened
An amazing kid
I went to the fair this past week and I found a booth that was selling luxurious 600 thread count, 100% Egytian cotton sheets for $20!! Great deal, so a bought a set for myself........ and one for Chris, one for my mom, one for my MIL, and one for Chris's dad (I know, but he asked for them, and he's paying me back....!! LOL!! ).
Anyway, I finally had time today to throw them in the washer in anticipation of putting them on my bed today..... they're the WRONG SIZE!!!! I'm SOOO BUMMED!!!!! They're big, but I'm putting them on anyway... but what a hassle, it'd be really nice to have them the RIGHT SIZE!!!! UGH!!!!
I am happy that I found a couple ways to cut my monthly spending.... I'm paying way too much for things I'm not even using, so I brought the prices down to size... on my cell phone bill and on my monthly video rental bill.... little things that will make a big difference.
I met a really great kid last night at a friend's house... Jeff* (*NOT HIS REAL NAME) is a 17 year old senior, who was left to die, by his mother, at birth. Someone had seen her leaving her newborn in some bushes immediately after birth, and called the police.... they got her and saved the baby.
He's had problems all his life... born a drug addicted, alcoholic baby.... but to know him NOW... WOW!!! He's an amazing testimony. I found myself just wanting to talk to him more, to learn more about him... I was so impressed with how far he's come and how happy he was to talk to anyone of any age, and was able to speak to everyone at their level. I guess it all amazed me because I didn't see any ANGER in him, although he's had a really rough life struggling so hard to just be a normal kid, he's one happy guy. I didn't even know anything about his background, until his foster aunt told me later.... but she said that what I saw is the REAL Jeff*, it wasn't a front... he IS happy with life. It was just refreshing to meet someone who has every right to be mean or miserable with the hand dealt him, yet he was so happy and pleasant.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Feeling Fabulous
5 Things
This is going around j-land right now... I thought it'd be fun... I found it at several journals (Brits blog, Lynne at TNT)
The 5 List
5 things you collect
lighthouses, decorative boxes, foreign (and now, old American) coins, wine, and seashells/fossils.
5 things about your hair
Long... brown... boring... straight... needs cut & style (BADLY).
5 things about your pets
Used to have a chow named LUCKY, who was not very lucky, he was stolen... had 2 white mice that died (out of our control), had a bearded dragon that also died (not sure why), and 2 red eared slider turtles that got so big we had to give them to someone who had a pond to keep them in.
5 things in your junk drawer
scotch tape, pens, chip clips, scissors, calculator
5 things you love to eat in summer
grilled hot dogs, cold salads, cold fruit, iced drinks, cold sandwiches.
Your turn!!

Feeling Crushed
Farewell to Yankee Stadium!!

1923 ~ 2008
Info. gathered and copied from NY Yankees Stadium History website where you can read much more on the history of the stadium.
On February 6, 1921, the Yankees issued a press release to announce the purchase of 10 acres of property in the west Bronx. The land, purchased from the estate of William Waldorf Astor for $675,000, sat directly across the Harlem River from the Yankees' current Manhattan home, the Polo Grounds, which they shared unhappily with the landlord Giants of the National League since 1913.
The relationship between the Giants and their tenant crumbled after the 1920 season when Yankee attendance boosted by their new slugging sensation doubled to 1,289,422. That was over 100,000 more than the Giants, who, in 1921, notified the Yankees to vacate the Polo Grounds as soon as possible. With their departure from the Polo Grounds now inevitable, Yankee co-owners Jacob Ruppert and Tillinghast l'Hommedieu Huston set out to build a spectacular ballpark of their own, Baseball's first triple-decked structure. With an advertised capacity of 70,000, it would also be the first to be labeled a "stadium."
In only 284 working days, Yankee Stadium was ready for its inaugural game on April 18, 1923 vs. the Boston Red Sox.
Officially, 74,200 fans packed Yankee Stadium for their first glimpse of Baseball's grandest facility while thousands more milled around outside after the fire department finally ordered the gates closed.
A building filled with memories, Yankee Stadium has been the site of countless memorable moments and players who left their mark on the sport's history.
Pitcher Mariano Rivera said "I always thank God for the opportunity to be able to play in the same place as Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Whitey Ford -- all those names. It's great. The history about it. Yankee Stadium. It's... 'Wow.'"
As the countdown to the final game at Yankee Stadium comes to an end Sunday, and the Bombers take the field for the last time in baseball's Cathedral, fans can relive some of the classic games that took place in the historic ballpark.
BaseballChannel.TV will air 18 consecutive hours of classic Yankee Stadium contests and footage as a tribute to the Stadium and the impact it's had. Programming begins at 12:01 a.m. ET on Sunday and runs through 6 p.m. that day.
The NEW Yankee Stadium will be located across the street from the current stadium and will be ready for opening day April 2009.

Feeling Happy
Once a Sailor......
Today, my nephew (who turns 26 today) started his journey to Kuwait... with a short stay in Georgia for procedure briefing, then on to Kuwait to get his assignment (either Kuwait, Afghanistan, or Iraq). He signed up for a one year contract, to work as a civilian in his profession as an aircraft mechanic for the military.
Although, the actual reason he signed up is for the excellent salary, I'm as proud of him, now, as I was when he was active in the Navy!! He'll be pretty safe wherever he's assigned, because he'll be staying on base... but, still, if you could remember to keep him in your prayers, I'd really appreciate it.
I haven't posted anything lately, just because I haven't really had anything to say for awhile.... LOL!!! I'm not doing well with exercise right now, but hope to get back on track very soon.... my eating's still ok, but I really NEED the exercise.
We went to the fair on Sunday.... THAT wasn't good for me... LOL!! I ate a sausage that HAD to be like 2 feet long... LOL!! JK, it was about a foot... and I ate it all, not the bread though, just the sausage and green peppers and onions (sorry, Linda). I also had a MINI (about 2") cupcake (vs. the large muffin size one I COULD HAVE had), and lots of ice tea and water.... OH, and I did try a deep fried twinkie.... we split it between four of us, just out of curiosity of the taste..... it wasn't that great... not even worth the calories, but I've wanted to try one for years... so I'm glad I did. I am going back next week to take my mom.
Well, hope you are all having a great week, OH, not sure if I told you I got a new director at work.... she's WONDERFUL, I love her!!! It always makes your job so much more enjoyable when you like your boss.... = )
