Feeling Happy
Re: Weight Loss
I was just a Sherry's Journal, and thought I'd copy my comment to her, here. She's an inspiration to me, and I wanted to write a little about my efforts here, because after all, this is SUPPOSED to be a weight loss journal.
She was asking who's tried different diets, and how they worked for you.
I have been on Weight Watchers off and on for years, and although I firmly believe it's a GREAT program, I needed to try something else for awhile.
I'm on South Beach now, (which I THINK is basically the same as Atkins)!! I love South Beach, but I'm not following it COMPLETELY. I have cut out a ton of carbs from my daily diet, and keeping them out. I never did phase 1 of the diet, which restricts you completely for 2 weeks from ANY CARBS or sugar. I have one SMALL carb serving a day, not EVERY day, sometimes I'll go a day without ANY carbs... I love when I can do that, but I know I would be setting myself up for failure if I completely restricted myself from ALL CARBS.... I KNOW ME!!!
Anyway, I'm doing very well with that, it's only been a week (or 2?) since I got BACK on track with this after the holidays, and I can definitely tell a difference... in my clothes, in the mirror, and how I feel. I have NOT been exercising but I do understand the importance... and will start planning that too!!!
South Beach is a plan that I think has been easier for me to adapt to, because I don't have to count anything, I'm tired of doing that for now.
The girls at work are also on South Beach, so I have plenty of accountability during the day... and nights here aren't even that hard. I have sugarless snacks for the rough patches. But I think this one is good for me.
I DID go out on Monday night for dinner, normally, I can find something on the menu that I can have.... HOWEVER, we went out for mexican!!! But it's ok, I allowed it and I've forgiven myself... LOL!!!
Well, I hope everyone is finding something that will help them get healthier this year!!!

I think South Beach is a great plan, I know a couple of girls on it who have done really well .....as long as it suits you and makes you feel good about staying on plan, GOOD FOR YOU!!!
Going out and eating Mexican is fine since you planned for it.....I'm quite proud of you my dear :)

I've been over to Sherry's as well. I think as the saying goes different strokes for different folks...I think as long as you have found something that works for you, that's all that really matters in the end. After all it has to begin with faith and a positive attitude. If you go into something believing it's not going to work for you, it probably won't. I've found if you eat spicy hot foods, you usually will eat less. (Hugs) Indigo

I love Sherry. She has alot of info and a great inspiration. That's wonderful you've forgiven yourself. I used to have a big problem with that but I'm getting used to forgiving myself and moving on.
Hugs,
